QUOTE(19 Degree South @ Jan 31 2018, 02:03 PM) I switched from shell to petronas after 20 years of driving! I felt petronas fuel,is cleaner and more power than shell! Shell v power has got no effect on my car! Waste money! Fuels are 99% same.By cleaner, did you test with a boroscope or an engine tear down? More power, do share dyno charts? I think everyone benefits from real data |

QUOTE(steevan1000 @ Feb 7 2018, 01:52 PM) Highly unlikely. based on the gradual increment of global crude pricesDont worry, US consumers will grumble louder should there be a sharp increase. For fuel prices to go up by almost 30% is not impossible but not practical |

QUOTE(6UE5T @ May 16 2018, 04:41 PM) Subsidy purely based on car's engine size is just too simplistic and unfair, just like the road tax regulation. Yes. But I am also unsure what is the best mechanism..Subsidizing based on MyKad, will slow down the transaction, and may cause abuse. Taking my son's MyKad to purchase among others. Subsidizing based on fuel type seems more balance, an introduction of Ron 91, pricing it at RM1.50 while Ron 95 and ron 97 to be daily float (which would mean around 2.40 to 2.60). Since, most higher tech cars require Ron95. Unless, they provide BRIM in the form of petrol vouchers, then it fixes the issue. Anyone who wants to get cheap fuel, apply and submit salary slips. Thinking out loud here. |

My personal opinion is that fuel subsidy should be via vouchers ala BRIM. If you earn less, you get fuel vouchers, with a cap. Cap meaning, if you earn RM1500, you get RM250 yearly voucher (since you may be riding a bike). RM2000, you get RM400 yearly fuel (since, you most likely drive a small car). RM3k, you get RM450 yearly voucher. After that, no more subsidy
All fuel prices should follow market prices. Means the Ron 95 would be around RM2.60 And Ron 97 around RM2.80 Why I think it will be good? First, cut down on unnecessary idling. Malaysians love to idle their cars. Switch off your engines! Second, cut down on unnecessary driving. Walk! or take public transportation, where applicable Third, cut down on fuel subsidy. We have a lot of debt as of today. So, not subsidizing fuel would actually be good. Fuel subsidy costs, ~RM29 billion yearly (2013). Then maybe, the car prices can come down. |

QUOTE(SleeplessEyes @ Jun 2 2018, 12:28 AM) I feel you. I was anticipating for RM 2.47 - 6% = Rm 2.32 unfortunately i learned the hard way and discovered it didn't changed. I guess Mahathir's thinking is right on track ; if you can afford Ron 97 or Ron 100 you can afford to pay for higher floating prices. without GST version of RON 97 is higher than the current 2.47/litre. Based on calculation by ISR25RON97 is slightly subsidized now. |

QUOTE(isr25 @ Nov 29 2018, 08:42 AM) Final update for the petrol price this month - looks like we are subsidizing the government for the past 3 weeks: Thanks a lot for your hardwork.RON95 estimate average weekly price for the past few weeks is: 12-16: RM2.17 19-23: RM2.11 26-28: RM1.95 RON95 estimated average price for the upcoming December is RM2.16 (average price for November 1-28) and RON97 is estimated to be RM2.30 (an average difference of 14 sen from RON95). If it's higher than this prices for December 1, it means that the government is taxing its citizens more. Fuel up on Saturday onward people. ![]() |

QUOTE(isr25 @ Dec 20 2018, 08:56 AM) I can update la, but of course not confirmed... Hate on new gov because of fuel price? However, as I informed end of last month, we are now effectively paying tax/subsidizing the government, instead of them subsidizing us... As of 19 December, the estimated average price of RON95 is supposed to be RM1.94 and RON97 is RM2.08. So basically every liter of RON95 you're filling up, you're effectively paying 26 sen more to the government, and even worse for RON97, you're paying 42 sen more... I'm starting to hate this new government more and more. ![]() Surely there are other considerations for a government |

It is best to solve an issue with an adult discussion with all parties.
I think the delay is not the worst solution, to bulldoze a change in pricing will impact players. At least there is a targeted end date, which is end of the week. To hate on a new government for 1 week delay in price reduction is absurd. Give them time, its like supporting a new manager for a football club, give them time to implement their vision and their policies. If after one full term, and they are not up to par, change. I hope a cleaner government will give our country a better future. So, give them time. Rome wasnt built in one day and Kennedy's wife once said, "Change, it takes time" |

QUOTE(isr25 @ Jan 1 2019, 03:02 PM) I don’t mind if they delayed the weekly petrol pricing implementation. What I do mind is that they delayed the reduction in price for the sake of 3700 petrol dealers rather than for the benefit of the Malaysian citizens. They have always announced the new pricing every 1st of the month anyway, why delay now? Can’t they just announce it as a monthly petrol price change (which has a significant price reduction) and delay the implementation for weekly. They can take 2-3 weeks for all I care... I am truly disappointed with the delay of EURO4M too. But I would imagine that they have deployment delays in which was not tracked closely by the previous gov. They have set a new date, if they miss this next one, everyone should be upset. Even worse, the delay in EURO4M implementation for RON95 to the year 2020 is also a sticking point for me. Every single decision has been good to petrol dealers and petrol companies - except for the previous subsidy of course New bosses and revised timelines are normal occurrences in business / politics. I agree, I would love to have cheap petrol too but, a targeted delay is better than no date. ah well. |
