the dashboard rattling sound really getting more and more serious, especially at the front passenger side. Anyone goes back to SC to get it fix? And does SC really fix it?
As i know need to put a few days in the SC to let them dissemble the dashboard.

i installed the rubber seal a month ago. It did help at first but after some time driving, notice the noise did not disappear so conclusion is the noise does not comes from there. The sound doesn't comes from the dashboard hitting the windscreen. Moreover, the rubber seal will block the air duct blowing cool air to the windscreen. Just found out after installing it but i still keep it there though. The rattling noise comes from the space between the pillar and the dashboard. It's like the plastic constantly geser-geser with the dashboard. I believe the only solution for this is to dissemble the dashboard and put some sound insulation material between the dashboard and the frame but i rather not putting my car to SC... I rather spend some money outside with an accessories shop that i trust or i will just live with it.

It's a shame proton did not fix this even they know the problem from iriz. Such a good car with this rattling it's just so turn off the comfort.

Will it void the warranty?

no it's just a piece of rubber that can be taken out anytime.

Yo sifus out there..would you recommend to buy this car as I am trying to compile a list of issues to decide or buy and hence help people to do a checklist prior to car acceptance?

First issue:
1 - Rattling dashboard
*
actually this is still a good car, to be honest. I use my car a lot for uber. Even passengers (local and foreign) also praise this car for its comfort and nice design. Not kidding. They even surprised when i told them the price. It's just the best value of car that you can buy in the market.

did anyone here compare head to head with Iriz?most people said they look the same and the only different is the hatchback...lol
*
handling is better for hatchback. The persona is too much on the height. So travelling high speed above 140km/h actually can feel that car a bit floaty but anyway, this car is not designed for that speed so if you want a fast car, this is not your choice.

Guys, i just done my first service.. (i opted for the 5 years free service during April), and the service center girl told me the engine oil they provided is semi synthetic which can only until 5k mileage.. and as for the free voucher for the 5 years free service are cover for each 10k mileage only, the girl asked me to come for service on next 5k mileage and i need to pay myself on the service..

As a first time own a proton, i didn't know that actually the semi synthetic oil actually can run until 10k (which the HQ CS claimed so), and i buta2 asked for upgraded to the full synthetic oil to be 10k mileage and paid more than 100, which i don't want to pay for the next each 5k mileage service.. after service only i checked with Proton HQ regarding this, and they said actually the semi engine oil is able to use till 10k mileage.. vmad.gif vmad.gif

Really disappointed with the service center didn't explain clearly, and what they just want is to earn more money from the customer.. mad.gif

For the first owner of proton, please check clearly first before you do your first service, check with HQ before agreed on anything.. dont be like me... bangwall.gif  cry.gif

Technically, semi syn oil best change at 5k- 7k.
Why Proton let you go back at 10k interval because the computer is already fixed to reset at 10,000km, cannot set to 5,000km So no matter what oil you use, is 10000km. Some service centre will do this: if they see you use semi syn they will give you another sticker to stick on your windscreen and ask you to come back at 5k. Actually they are good because semi-syn is really not designed to last long mileage. And if you tested the semi and fully in Persona, you will know the difference. Car is heavier in semi.

After my first service with fully syn, it was quite ok, then i decided to use my preferred oil on the second service. So on the second service, i ask for semi syn (since the counter told me it's 10,000km anyway because they can only set 10k in the computer regardless semi/fully) . I drove about 1000km on the semi syn and I already start complaining. I drove to a service centre outside, ask them to suck the oil out without touching the oil filter, then i change to my preferred oil. Drive becomes so smooth after that. No complaints now.

I wasted the RM100 semi syn oil but i don't care. I use my car everyday and i don't want to complaint about it. biggrin.gif

Finally I fixed the rattling dashboard sound.
Using the excessed rubber seal, managed to stuck the rubber into the space between the dashboard and the small side window.
Now cabin is silent

Can tell where did u buy this?
*
At lazada, search for :
rubber seal dashboard

Quite cheap

But first you need to identify your source of the rattling sound.
Mine maybe different from yours

Additional UR Bar added - complete set now.
ARB only 16mm, should have gotten the 19mm instead.😔
Remark :
Money worth spending.
Handling of the car improved a lot and no more floating experience like a boat hitting waves😁

From my 20 years experience, I would recommend to stay away from these 2 brands,
Silverstone - sidewall crack easily
Goodyear - expensive but wear out very fast
*
My experience with goodyear is quite ok. Used their UHP tyres (Asym 2), very satisfied.
Silverstone always not my choice.
Used Michelin PS3, performance slightly lower than goodyear assymetric 2 but price a lot cheaper than goodyear, but still provide excellent grip.

When i choose tyres, i don't choose those treadwear over 320. To me, a tyre wear out faster = grip the road better, safer.
This goodyear tyre has a treadwear of 320, not very high.
