I wasn't sure about your driving style, but going 2k rpm to 2.5k rpm sounds like a bit heavy foot to me.. you may try slower and smoother acceleration by slowly paddling down..

That's what I don't like about automatic transmission especially CVT, it keep giving you the urge to floor down more to feel the rev while actually if you maintain your foot is actually accelerating the car, but we just like to hear the engine roar more to actually believe its accelerating. Especially for this Persona, its really good in masking the speed and push to back feel compared to other car, the acceleration is there, just that we don't often feel it...

But since you came from Lancer which is also CVT, you should be more familiar on this than me  hmm.gif

Your Persona mileage how much?
*
My mileage just 4k
Yes. I am quite familiar with CVT and actually cvt not that bad.
Just can't stand the fc but I see most of the bros here get very decent fc so I start to think it's my driving style or really the car is really that thirsty ...

I noticed how to get the best FC through the Eco indicator and I am gonna be testing it,
The rough guidelines are as below,
1) Eco Mode only starts from 30KM/H, from standstill light gas to @1500RPM reaching 30KM/H, than release gas and maintains @1250rpm Eco will turn on.
2) 40-60KM/H light gas @1500-1750rpm.... never try to reach @2000rpm or else the Eco Indicator will off
3) 70-80KM/H @2000rpm
....and so on....am starting to get the feel of the Eco drive!...and I can say... the thrill of acceleration is gone!! Totally!....because my previous car was a 2001 Wira Manual...and it's dam fun to drive and accelerate and speed around corners.... guess this car be like for "comfort ride" smile.gif
*
but if purposely drive like this to get the FC, there's no more fun in the drive d...
I think a good engine should be efficient in fuel and if driving spiritly then makan minyak that one can understand
I'm just driving like 60 - 80 and i still can't get a good FC is really disturbing.
Don't tell me i need to drive 40-60 just to get a normal FC ... biggrin.gif

Same, full city drive, I pump RM75 can only go 280km!
...but when I drive high way, half tank can reach 300KM!!... full tank probably can go 600-700KM!!
*
bro, I'm not sure about you but for me, really unacceptable. Even more thirsty than a 2.0 car... somemore driving normally, not very fast that kind...

I don't think the key to save fuel is the speed.. its more about how you accelerate.

Like drsmallkid said, to save fuel you have to keep the eco indicator on most of the time. The eco indicator will lit after about 25km/h if u drive economically, the rest is a course of how to drive the car gently and plan your journey like not accelerating unreasonably when there's a stop in front and overtaking aggressively.

Yes it will definitely kill the fun, this is no award winning engine, its just an engine that does better than its previous engine.
If you have time to keep a watch on Nissan Almera thread, despite having VVT on both the intake and exhaust and being lighter than Persona, the fuel consumption is no where better than this Persona.

Previous generation Persona AT I only manage to stretch 350km from full tank till low fuel indicator lit, in my opinion this VVT is also doing better than the previous gen Persona.
*
thanks for your explanation bro. Surprise me that the old campro engine was that fuel thirsty.

QUOTE(cktang @ Mar 10 2017, 11:08 AM)
Old persona are almost the same fc but u need to pay for the extra 10liter fuel. My std cvt best can go around 380km only 80% city driving from full tank to fuel light up. Average 7.3l/100km. Here are some tips i like to share maybe can help fellow cvt owner for better saving:

- Pump the front tyre 220 psi back 200 psi (70kg driver and 60kg front passenger). If back got passengers or luggage then back add 10~20 psi. Check tyre pressure every 2 weeks.

- Off the aircond when starting the car cold, jalan first and on the aircond when temperature indicator got 2 bar. Lower or off the aircond if not that hot.

- After release the brake from a full stop, let the car move a bit first before accelerate gradually. The key of cvt to save fuel are u need to control the gas pedal well at slow driving. If u press hard the gas pedal at wrong timing, u will tend to bring up the rpm  unnecessarily instead of moving the car faster.

Best fuel brand i tested is petronas 95 as it's give better power at low torque.

good tips. thanks bro

Iriz is also like that, nobody had any prob so far. Dont worry much about it  icon_rolleyes.gif

me too. this is already discussed in v1.
If I can remember clearly, SC said the temp gauge will show realtime info whereas compared to other car models, they tend to delay the information.
So this means although in other cars, it's showing 3 bars, actually it is programmed to delay it.

But i don't buy such saying... If you tell me the gauge have smaller ratios so compare to other car makes, it's more "sensitive" then i believe.

Those digital fuel range/fuel consumption estimator will never be 100% correct but the discrepancies wont be very obvious. In my opinion 7.7L/100km for city driving isnt that bad because every car will makan minyak during jam and i think 2000-2500 is abit heavy footed for me. Try and just hold the revs below 2k and let the car climb and i think its just that the fuel tank in the persona is really small with only 40L of fuel that makes it feel that the car makan minyak. Take the benz E200 2014 facelift for example and i know its like comparing between apples and oranges but just bear with me on this, the car can achieve 5.8l/100 km if driven at around 80kmh ish but when its super jam it can also go up to crazy 14L/100km. But the fuel tank is around 80L and highway driving itself the car is capable of doing 1k km of range. My point here is that 7.7L/100km for traffic jam/ city driving is not that bad and the fuel tank is just too small. Just my 2 cents  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif
*
If I can really get 7.7L/100km I will be very happy lo.
I know the meter cluster is showing 7.7 but it's contradicting with my actually spending. In reality is like 12L/100km

But these few days I have tried driving below 2000rpm and it really helps to squeeze another 50km out from the fuel tank.
I guess this is something that need you accept

cheeshong drsmallkid and those who got less than 280km for 1 tank

Care to share your Average speed and total driving time for that fuel up?

For my last fuel up I get around average of 45km/h and somewhere 12 hours drive time, most of other fuel up, I got similar reading as well.

It manage to travel around 460km and still have 2 bars left... the fuel up got me around 31 litre of fuel. total time involved in bumper to bumper traffic is around 2 hours for this fuel up... the rest is mix highway and city drive 50 50
*
You mean get this info from the meter cluster?
But anyhow my cvt won't be close to your FC.
Last few days I have been driving super eco ly. And gosh it's really boring. I used to drive 80-110kmh easily on highway but now I just can only take the middle lane and sometimes the slow lane, at 60kmh or max 80kmh. FC improved with additional 50km for half tank. If drive like this still not good FC then the engine really can throw d...I not yet pump petrol so will try again this time with full tank.

Just now I use my obd2 to read the data from ecu, I am using torque lite Android app with my Bluetooth obd2. The only thing closest to the engine temperature that I can see from the app is "engine coolant temperature" . Others are not relevant. Maybe if use the paid version can get more info. But anyway, this is what I saw

60c to 74c = our 2 bars
75c onwards is 3 bars.

Driving from usj to puchong, I keep an eye on the app, the whole journey, the temperature is between 75-78c

Not sure this helps

Ya, from the meter cluster... I always reset at each full fuel up.

But however, I would suggest to drive the car the way you like, you don't have to follow our ah pek style driving to get good FC since I believe the motive you got this car is not just for the FC or you would have go for Bezza instead.

If it makes u to be another person that you don't feel comfortable with, just drive the way you like would make u a happier man  flex.gif

Another worth mentioning torture for fuel save is not to hit down the accelerator too much when going uphill, best if you can just maintain the throttle. But this will be Super unsatisfying watching your speed drop, cars at your back is getting closer to you but still not doing anything to it  laugh.gif
*
You hit My point bro. It's really unsatisfying to have to force my self to drive like this but if I don't drive like this and follow my own driving style, it will be drinking fuel like nobody business. Fc is worse than my old car. Still trying to accept this fact tbh

Too bad this Persona can't have both FC and Power at once...

It actually applies to other car also... I read somewhere that the Inspira 1.8MT has FC worse than Iswara 1.5 AT because he always floor to metal on both car. Not sure he's joking or for real  sweat.gif

I think Inspirian should know who i'm talking about in case they are reading this  whistling.gif
*
Doesn't happen to all cars but yes, some. In my opinion, a car should be reasonable fc when driving normally within the speed range that we normally use, for example below 100kmh then the engine has a balance of fc and power. Not necessary must be very powerful but the keyword is balance. If a car need to drive like this like that only can save fc then the engine is not friendly to the driver. I still think all these can be programmed in the ecu. Really no one attempted reflash the iriz?

Thanks for the info man.  So which means even the bar drop to 2 during your driving from usj to puchong is around 75-78c reading?
*
No.
It's constantly on 3 bars. Not a lot of highways.
If drop to 74c then it will go 2 bars but I don't think it matters.

This might help..Radio Data System
*
good info. Copy and Paste here for others' easy referencing

AF (alternative frequencies)
This allows a receiver to re-tune to a different frequency providing the same station when the first signal becomes too weak (e.g., when moving out of range). This is often used in car stereo systems.

TA, TP (traffic announcement, traffic programme)
The receiver can often be set to pay special attention to this flag and, for example, stop the tape/pause the CD or retune to receive a traffic bulletin. The TP flag is used to allow the user to find only those stations that regularly broadcast traffic bulletins whereas the TA flag is used to signal an actual traffic bulletin in progress, with radio units perhaps performing other actions such as stopping a cassette tape (so the radio can be heard) or raising the volume during the traffic bulletin.

REG (regional)
This is mainly used in countries where national broadcasters run "region-specific" programming such as regional opt-outs on some of their transmitters. This functionality allows the user to "lock-down" the set to their current region or let the radio tune into other region-specific programming as they move into the other region.

hi sigh,
just bought graphite grey persona premium, 1 month old already, do u all experience proton infotainment hang randomly especially after fail to connect to phone via bluetooth?? and the bluetooth also quite shitty ler... when my infotainment player mood is good then it will connect to my phone, when its mood not good, then it won't connect at all... sometime straight away hang... no matter what i do(off engine also can't resolve the hang problem), it will just hang....

today went to kota bahru service center to reset(waiting time 3 hours just to check player only), well for a while then problem recur again...

really annoy me ler.... do u have any issue with this?? or any solution?? really scare to bring back to service center wait 3 hour just for player problem...
*
when you turn off the car engine (pressing the engine off button), notice there is a small light at the disc insertion place of the player. Wait for it to turn off. I usually take 1-2 min. When the light goes off, turn on the engine, and start the player like you normally do. This is because the power didn't just cut off when the engine is turn off. You need to wait.

i never use any pin to reset everytime it hangs. You can try this out.

First service is 1 month or 1000km, whichever comes first. So it's correct
