Thinking of selling my Minix U1 & Himedia Q5 Pro and getting the Nvidia Shield TV 2017.
I like the U1 due to Kodi (using add-ons & playback from NAS), usability is top notch. Bought a used Q5 Pro recently just to test it out and I think the picture quality is noticeably good compared to U1, must be due to HDR and maybe also the Hisilicon chip. But its interface with the wrapper sucks and it doesn't feel as easy to use as the U1.
Don't really like switching between both boxes and would rather just get 1 good box but I'm not sure whether the cost is really justified.
Would appreciate some comments both for and against getting the shield.
Think it's best you get the Nvidia, sell that Q5 Pro to me cheap2
I had a T95M which my friend had hijacked running on Android 5. I recently helped him redo everything especially upgrade to Krypton. This device is fast and trouble free. I'm still amazed at the speed although it is with s905 quad core compared to others I've tried like Mini M8S or GT1

Nope... Krypton runs from Android V5.x (Lollipop) and above. That's is minimum OS requirement.
I have ordered a Tanix TX3 mini from Lazada. Seems to have good reviews on the internet. But being a low price device, it may have limitations. Hope it works. Can I connect my fibre optic cable to the Ethernet LAN port or must I use the normal 10/100M cable connection?
i am not using beelink now. my box pass to my bro already...haha
Lol! If you are buying then you'd know what to expect based on previous experience....

If it shares similar internals, manufacturer and different exterior.. Then it's probably just that.. Same device, different shell. So expect similar performance.
Hi guys. Been doing some reading and I have finally narrowed down my choices to one of these two: Minix U9-H and Himedia Q10 Pro. I'm buying for my parents in Kampung, dad is bored with the free mytv channels lol. so I reckon I need something with easier navigation / user friendly interface (more like uncle-friendly interface) haha. Appreciate your help. Thanks
TBH, both are really good boxes with stable firmware, you'll just need to have good add-on and setup
Hi! I have read the first page but can i double confirm. If i buy the new mi box 3s which support Android 6.0. Do I still able to install hypp tv anywhere and Astro on the go apk? The apk i found is for android 4.4.2. Please guys need your advice.
For xiomi you'll need to go to their dedicated thread for support
If this box gonna be your daily driver meaning your only gateway to media entertaining for the whole family, the Himedia will be able to meet the expectation bcos I'm using one for the last few years.
But if it's not, then a cheaper box would your alternative...
Here are the best boxes for under USD$40 for FY17 according to Chigz
Think none of us actually bought any of it....
I actually had the Z69 2/16 gb for fun bought early this year until i sold off to my neighbor aunty last month cos her box screwed up. Bought for less than USD40 in fact and sold off at $190.
Overall its a good box as well with ok UI, snappy though its only S905X and remote feels cheap but functional . Firmware was stable with no crashing incident, great picture quality for 1080 cos i dont have 4k tv. Did bought a G3s controller which is still sitting somewhere in the house untouch
In comparison with a same spec of another box (Mini MXiii II) bought for a friend sometime end last year who just called me again as the box crashed for dunno 6th or 7th time within a span of 1 year which requires Wipe Data/Factory Reset, this is by far much better personally
Good for beginner's entry box b4 moving up.
