Just asking around , because if there is a tvbox that can insert a sim slot for data would be good if to subscribe a plan without using poor strmyx connection.Everytime need to do tethering and there is a limit on certain telco for tethering.
No phone now adays have hdmi out.
Now I am considering a Tv box or a Raspberry PI 4.Waiting for the review on raspberry pi 4 Cortex-A72 emulate on android.
As for remote , maybe a simple bluetooth air mouse will do.

Maybe on both too.

why not just use the Wifi/USB broadband modem? at least its better modem

need some advice from all sifu here.
recently study about this tv box thing, only that i know there are so many brand and plah plah plah in de market ...

so i come to have 3 or 4 option in my mind.

1. EVPAD - 2GB ram , have own server they say

2. mecool - 4GB ram , have many good review, chip inside also good (cheaper than EVPAD)

3. H96 - 4GB ram , also have many good review, chip inside also good (cheaper than EVPAD)

4. Linkin - 8GB ram, i think is kinda new to market , use MTK chip

Since the box and everything is Android base, i think the higher Ram the better ..
But evpad seller said Ram doesnt matter, the more expensive thing is better ...  doh.gif
*
for me correct lor.
last time i bought minix x8 and u9h, both are only 2GB ram, but running smoothly
now nvidia shield, just 3GB, also running smoothly whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif
it useless to have high ram but not optimized firmware

There aren't or i never trust those who say free for life LoL ..
EVPAD say they have own server but unable to explain what does it mean by own server ..
I study from youtube, they just use another APP to see the movie , and i actually think all this free to watch movie drama website are just copy each other link ... change website or app and call it their own ..

free for life actually mean the life span of their app/link/device ... ..
Minix is using KODI no ? If use KODI , and third party app, than nothing to do with optimized firmware  ..
Arent all come from the same mother Android ?

refer to first page. 2GB ram is just nice for last year and now. While this year onward already have many new device come with 4GB and capable to do more thing.
*
last time Minix have their own XBMC( now called KODI) built version and installed as built in.
source : http://www.minix.us/minix_xbmc.htm

but once XBMC changed to KODI, they no longer have special version, since the newer KODI can support the minix hardware already.
if i remember correctly, minix developer also contribute to the KODI developement.

seem u know nothing about android. yes, it came from all same mother android( source code from google android), but the optimization for their hardware-software is made by the chipset manufacturer and the box manufacturer it self.

has anyone hook up an USB hub to tvbox? working?
to use airmouse & thumbdrive

hdd may not enough to power up
*
depends on which tvbox.
those popular and high spec should be no issue
most of the USB port on high spec box now supply power more than 500mA, eg like 1A or 2A,which HDD USB able to run on single port.

mouse and thumbdrive use less power, so no issue running on USB hub.

But there is such thing called powered-USB hub. Are you saying if using powered USB hub it should be OK ?
*
for mouse n this low powered usb device, should be ok.
im using the usb hub too for mouse , keyboard and thumbdrive for my box.

for HDD, if you have the powered usb hub, much better, since hdd require more power to spin the disk.

Just that I don't know if normal Android apps will be fully compatible with ATV. I like the flexibility of Android apps.
*
its depend on the apps itself.
but most of my apps is android tv compatible.( including unifi tv, astro go). im using my shield for streaming purpose only anyways.

https://www.cnx-software.com/2019/09/16/min...-tv-media-hubs/

previously im U9H user, so far it should meet ur requirement for the astro-go and the Unifi TV. the astro go apps need to sideload.

The mi box s is absolutely dull in loading movies when using the titanium app. ANyone else knows what the issue is? I am using Unifi 30mbps and am unable to upgrade the speed , after confirming with TM. For now , the speedtest using fast.com via mi box s comes to about 24-25mbps of download speed.

However , when using the netflix or primevideo app, I have no lag issues.
*
u know u comparing small company @ free service vs big company @ paid service rite ?
with paid service, they will have better server, higher bandwidth and much better service.

Already read it but still confuse. What is KODI?
And the recommended apps are all paid subscription such as Iflix, Netflix, HyppTV..
My purpose is only to find alternative of Astro expensive monthly fees.
*
its just a media player that support lots of codec, with lots of plugin can install.
those plugin, its just small piece of code that enable u to stream other contents as well.

my advice, if u want good content without much issue, just use those paid subs like netflix.
even if u share between ur friends, u only need to pay less than rm15 permonth for 4k plan for single screen.

iflix, i think the content inside still not much and i think the price for yearly still cheap.
hyyptv, also give u some free channel like normal tv1-tv3,tv9 if im not mistaken.

if u want to venture those illegal one, then u might get lots of issue which u need to solve urself, since we dont discuss it here.

Hi, anyone can recommend android box that can play hvec or 4k movie files smoothly as well as support usual android apps eg social media, youtube, bigo  etc...with english interface

See a lot of cheap boxes on lazada but not sure
*
one of the box i used before, Minix brand. my previous model is UH9, 4k capable, but i hvent test local 4k hvec, so u might google it if support or not or newest model can support already. its running full android, so u can install those usual android apps same as on the phone.
minix is one of the manufacturer that with clean OS without bloatware and with english interface.

other brand i didnt use before, so cant comment much on that but i do know HiMedia is one of the competitor.

i think u can find the latest model that support ur requirement.

okies. apple tv is cheaper tho at rm888.. but more investment need for the software. i think i will get shield. the native TV apps still cant beat standalone player.
*
most of my video is running with native player on shield. but my video mostly h264 and h265 with normal codec.
so far i dont hv issue with it. using synology NAS ds video for playback on shield.

being apple, i know it would hv more limitations. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

Hi android box/ other tv box/dongle sifus, would like some opinions on which to choose, Im new to this area of home entertainment since my bro-in-law used to do it but i have a non-smart tv (FHD only) that is currently connected to unifi box laying around and would love to use it.

My main usage/priority includes : netflix, youtube, good ui support and updates, possibly phone mirroring, ease of use

From what I've been reading: big brands are recommended cause they have dedicated ui and support, so im leaning towards those. Hence, I've narrowed it to few choices listed below.

1. Xiaomi Mi Box S - at the top because it has good reviews from shopee, also chromecast built-in. however, would like to put it here since im dont really trust the review
2. Roku Express - hd and wifi supported like the other, also cheaper than mibox
3. Roku Streaming Stick + - an uprade from the express since using dual band so im using better connection although im not sure if justifies the upgrade cost since 4K is not even supported for my tv
4. Chromecast - cheapest but it seems I can like only mirror certain apps from my phone which will also drain my battery at the same time?

I'm not into those boxes that is either pirated/jailbreak/root or requires in-store update, i would rather have a dedicated one that i can learn and update on my own just like how u normally update your devices. Hardware wise, i would assume they would be able to support my usage.

I know that the shield is more recommended but since im using this for basic purposes, the expenditure does not justify the cost ( max budget : under rm350) . Any feedback, comment or even suggestion of any other box that is easy to configure as well as learn is deeply appreciated since my choices are more towards bigger, mainstream brands since i was thinking of reliability.

Thank you
*
4.chromecast price almost same price with mibox, so u can cross that choice. and no, it wont because it not using mirroring , but casting . mean if u phone turned off also its still working fine.

i dont use roku before so cant comment on that. but my priority is the 1 running with android, since i can download apps that i want and use it mostly.

mi box s now around rm200++ if u buy from reputable seller like dasher on shoppee.
just good enough for u since it support all your requirement.

H96Max S905X3 vs Tanix TX3 S905X3 vs Xiaomi Mi box

Which one should i get for budget around rm350? i have read the first page but i'm still quite confuse about it. Initially going for xiaomi but 2gb ram and 8gb rom does not seems to be enough. Other recommendation are always welcome. Prefer best bang for buck.
*
then u should read again.
each box made differently and unique. how to recommend when u not yet tell us ur purpose.
