hi guys, looking to purchase Minix U9-H. But checked in Lowyat Plaza, did not find it. Asked the people in IT Hypermarket, they said latest Minix products are discontinued from Malaysia?

Anyone knows any physical shop selling this box, other than Lazada or Shopee? Checked Shopee and Lazada, but no good reviews for any sellers. So a bit scared to buy from there.

i bought mine here before

mx player app running 4k h.265 video, picture smooth but no audio.
*
go here
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-pl...upport-t2156254

then download custom codec based on ur device chipset. normally neon.

this due ur video hv certain audio codec that normal mx player couldnt support. need custom codec for that

depends on user.
user above definitely need to use gigabits LAN as his need.
my self also using, but just for transfer files. streaming movie from my nas, still same due my movies files not so high bitrate.

Today just announced Netflix will roll out mobile plan at RM 17 per month. This mobile plan is only used for mobile phone, I think we can use it in our Android box too? My box is using same APK as my phone. hmm.gif
*
yea, i think should be able. but still expensive. if u sub 4k, then share with friends, only pay rm12.75.
they did mentioned only get same as basic plan

so what's the point to argue?

need help

i cant decide which to buy

1) Minix Neo U9H

2) HiMedia Q10 Pro

3) Xiaomi tvbox

mostly for UnifiTv/AstroGo and other free iptv app.
*
using minix u9h before. unifiTv n astro go working fine. just that astro go need sideload. dont appear in google play. only old model like x8h , can directly download from google play. this has to be problem at astro cos they limit which device can downloads from google play.

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Dec 7 2018, 01:31 PM)
For cheap, Mibox.
For better user experience, top up abit buy the king of TV box Nvidia Shield since the price gap is closer from u9h or q10.

*
now im using shield, problem it is that unifitv n astro go didn fully support. need to change the keyboard, then auto rotate screen apps. and very hard to control the unifitv@astrogo unless using mouse. this might be due to its running android TV os instead of full android on minix.

its playtv @unifi apps.

if u talking about the UnifiTV in the STB, that one is diff cos that 1 is builtin in STB.

wanna know which brand can haha...
*
last time i use can. no issue on minix. but this issue happen on nvidia shield.
njoi i never try.

but please take note, the playtv still not support certain channel in unifiTV in STB. this might be their copyright issue.

Hi All, first time buying an Android Box. Have read the last 30 pages or so and seem like the most recommended is the Minex Neo U9 or Shield. Read couple of online reviews, youtube review and checked out the prices in Lazada.

Most probably will go more Minex since is 50% cheaper than a Shield. Will a Minex serve my primary needs below?

Primary Needs
1. Playback H.264/265 at 50/60FPS encoded video. One of the main reason i'm buying as my current SmartTV built in player can only play upto 30fps movies.

2. youtube and vimeo app

3. gaming for small kids. Will addon a gamepad, if so, does it makes sense to invest in Shield? Any gamepad recommendation that works well with minex?

4. Nice interface (ala netflix style) to browse my movie collection (via Wifi instead of direct USB). Can we set the Kodi to auto start upon boot? so that it behaves more like a kodi box instead of a andriod box.

tqtqtq
*
i hv used both minix u9 and shield. but now only shield since i hv sold my u9.
minix can do those u mentioned
1.can play most codec. even those DD, using mx player with custom codec.
2. can download from apps store
3. can play kids games, but i never try with gamepad. high end games will lags. any bluetooth gamepad should work. minix got one of the best firmware support last time.
4. can use kodi for nice interface for movies and set as default launcher

all ur requirement can use u9. shield would be overkill.

but please bear in mind, shield is running android TV os, while minix using full android os.

Which one will be better, Android TV OS or stock Android OS? I'm thinking of Shield or other devices which are using Android TV OS in the future.
*
its depend on ur usage. if ur usage going to involve lots of native apps. better using minix since its full android os. some apps, even after sideload, not working very well.
but if u only use android TV apps,, then shield. the UI on the android tv os much better integration with the remote/controller.
mine mostly use netflix, youtube, games ( on shields platform) and some apps that available on the android TV os ( specific apps for android TV os)

forgot to mentioned, last time when i using minix u9, i flash custom firmware that enabled it running android TV os, so after i like the UI interface etc, then only i bought the shield. ( to make sure my investment is worth it , lol)

QUOTE(exshige @ Jan 30 2019, 02:29 PM)
thanks. kodi default launcher is a setting in minex that came together or need install 3rd party? i was googling about auto boot to kodi and came across needing to install apk for OnbootKodi app.

btw sideloading apk on minex doesn't require rooting right?
*
u need to install kodi, then on the minix settings for the launcher, put kodi as ur launcher. so everytime boot up, it will always open kodi. inside kodi, u can put ur apps shortcode if u want to .. like chrome or youtube. eg. booting up.. open kodi, then select chrome@youtube icon, then it will open those apps.

QUOTE(exshige @ Jan 30 2019, 02:31 PM)
miss out this point.. but i reckon for the immediate 1-2 years .. the Android OS will be better as i get the same access level to apps as my phone. When Android TV caught up.. then is time to change hardware liao... biggrin.gif
*
android tv OS right now is oreo, which same as android phone. the problem with the android TV os is that, not much manufacturer want to update it. unless those big name like shield and mi box. about those TV manufacturer that came android tv os, like Sony, i not really sure.

Dear Sifus.

I need some advise here.

I owned Sony Androids TV (2018).

Do I still need Androids Box to play all of my downloaded 4K Movies(size more than 40GB).

Right now I play all of the movies using Kodi V18 installed inside the Sony Androids TV.

Your advise is highly appreciated.

ur question quite confusing.
u already got it play with kodi, then why need another box?

I've been using U9-h for quite sometime now and I'm really fed up with everything. No new firmware; seems product support stopped, no Netflix UHD, the "fake wifi" option is buggy, etc.

Now contemplating on getting Shield, but it's almost 2 years since the refreshed version released. Anyone know if I should proceed with current Shield, or wait for maybe a new refreshed version coming this year?
*
i only use u9h for 2-3 months then upgrade to shield ( im also previous minix x8h user for few years, bored with minix, thus upgrade to shield)
got few pro and cons upgrade to shield
pro
- king of android box interm of performance, stability, fw support etc
- netflix 4k supported
- 1 remote + 1 gamepad with earphone.
- android games, clould nvidia geforce and nvidia streaming from gtx cards.
- nice android tv layout

cons
- some apps, even sideload wont work, cos its running Android TV os, which is strip down from full android os like u9-h.
- astro go, hyyptx, require screen orientation to change to landscape ( default to portrait), even with that, astro go always crash, now i fed up already and didnt watch it,

my advice, just get it. but with new hardware refinement. for 2019, they added separate Bluetooth chip n board, to avoid interference with USB3.0.

If you found any good airmouse, let us know.

The air mouse are typically like shits :-

1) They drink battery like drinking water.

2) Constantly have to toggle between remote/IR mode vs usb-dongle (airmouse) mode. And then make to toggle between mouse mode vs non-mouse mode.

I doubt people understand all those things.

Yes, IR remote has to transmit IR vendor ID over which matches the box to be controlled. Without "learning", it is tight to a particular box. I am not sure if the minix remote can learn new IR code or not.
*
im previous owner of minix x8h n u9h, and using minix a2 lite airmouse.
so far i dont issue that u said. battery can last around 6months and more with daily use of air mouse feature.
but the model im using dont hv learning IR code as u said.
