QUOTE(tanckeng @ May 23 2017, 09:41 AM) Bought a Mi Box to replace that crappy piece of s**t. RM320. So far very good experience. android box offers u a new online streaming experience compared to yr condemned ac ryan.Sorry to hear about your case. Good luck!! however, this box u bought cannot do one thing the ac ryan can do - dtshdma, ddtruhd audio pass thru for playback. but if u r not into home theater and such videos, it does not matter as u will still get dd and dts. |

ok, about the malicious subs... done my part...
kodi... use 17.2 popcorntime.sh... already on 2.9, ok. QUOTE The team behind PopcornTime.sh applied a fix several months ago after the researchers approached them, TorrentFreak is informed. The Popcorn Time team trusts their subtitle provider OpenSubtitles but says that it now sanitizes malicious subtitle files, also those that are added by users. others online subs download... disable feature or just don't use it. safe for now, i guess. |

And i dont use kodi, popcorn, vlc subs on my pc. Handphone n tablet, no entertainment apps. Always to separate the purposes. |

QUOTE(Haruji Sora @ May 26 2017, 03:47 PM) Thinking of replacing my aging Pi2 (running with OSMC Kodi) for a start, read pages 1-2.What's the current recommendation? Is Mi Box 3S any good in sideloading Kodi as well as future proofing for 4K HDR Signal? Since new TV is 4K HDR set. there aren't much 4k, HDR stuff to stream online, kodi or other apps. however, if u playback 4k/HDR files, many boxes can do that. the specs will tell u; actual performance and video quality may vary. u did not mention audio, so i assume u do not need hd audio - dtshdma, ddtruhd, ddatmos, dtsx. hd audio is possible with only certain brands and models, not all. QUOTE(dwRK @ May 26 2017, 06:45 PM) I wonder which has the better picture quality... U9-H/U1 or Q10/Q5 pro? ya, that will be good for potential buyers.I know the Himedias have extra picture tweaking ability via imprex settings...have not seen any such settings for the Minix, but this doesn't mean much if its picture is already great. The only person that I know who has both boxes is JayceOoi...care to comment? Anyone else seen such shoot-out/comparison? price - both same, rm600 thereabout. but wait...! these 2 need to shootout with 2 more! Egreat A10 Ziddo X10 Both have similar specs to the other 2, but price... both rm1000 thereabout. there are always differences, incl aesthetics... just the buyers know what they are buying and not buying. |

QUOTE(dwRK @ May 27 2017, 12:57 AM) if just about picture quality, one can only tell the difference using same 4k or 4k hdr tv and playing back the best files.for common <10gb movie files and online streams on a 1080p tv, i don't think one can see or say much. if someone will lend me a u9, i can test. QUOTE(Kidz1995 @ May 27 2017, 01:40 PM) Hello. I need opinion from u guys. there is NO replacement for astro.Im currently in process to terminate the lame-pricey Astro. What is the best tv box I can get to replace it? This is for my parents. Maybe something that have simple navigation might be good astro is legit biz; no one else is authorized to sell it. all other boxes giving xtro channels are illegit, try on yr own terms. but if u can accept alternatives, possible with boxes. harder for older folks to use. read page 1-2, get some idea first. |

QUOTE(lukejey @ May 28 2017, 04:39 PM) Both are at about the range of 400 bucks. I just find that H8 plus is a slightly older model on the market and Iām not sure how are the performance comparing right to H96 pro+. QUOTE(lukejey @ May 28 2017, 08:38 PM) Thanks bro. But even a old model like H8 plus would be an over kill? Just to be on the safe side l, I'm actually planning to have a bit of future proof for software update and download. h8 plus is 2 yrs old, rm450 or so.But if you have to choose from either H96 Pro+ or H8 plus, what would you choose? What are the pro and con for both? Sorry for bombarding with questions. šš or u can go for newer q5pro, rm500 - android7. becos u have an idea what himedia is, support etc. i do not know h96 but is 3/32gb, high memory/storage, hope u can use it well. support, features, etc., i hv no idea. essentially, they all work the same. the differences lie in reliability, support, updates in firmware. maybe hardware durability too... |

was just googling...
airtel... from india, uses google androidtv. netflix, other apps, 4k usb playback. about usd80 (rm350) for box, usd130 (rm570) with 500 channels for 1 yr - this is legit iptv, competing with satellite tv in south india. http://profit.ndtv.com/news/gadgets/articl...s-4-999-1680459 http://www.airtel.in/about-bharti/media-ce...r+digital+homes will be nice if the monopoly here stops, let in another player - for VOD and Live TV. if good channels, reliable and price reasonable, all the ahems will vanish.
