Something not quite right with the firmware I suspect. The stock Kodi app is unusable because video playback is very choppy.

Had to switch to SPMC jarvis to get decent video playback. However, the bottom half of the screen blacks out from time to time

I would agree that some learning is required, took me about a few days just to learn how to access my media. I would say in all about 1-2 weeks.

Kodi is not for everyone. (Still learning)

Reason I asked is because I saw one sold and fulfilled by Lazada that cost around 170 and then looking at other sites like Shopee I found some at around only 70

Just want to share my newly purchased tv box Docooler M9S Pro 3GB/32GB (S905X version, not the S905 version)

Lazy to write and benchmark, just put some points here:

+ it comes with latest android 7.1.2 out of the box although product page says android 6.0.

+ the remote control response and range not bad, don't know why it doesn't have stop button and recent app button.

- although it is a 3GB ram tv box, but Spec Device app shows it only have 2GB ram. (box manufacturer fake amount of ram installed)

- wireless keyboard doesn't work out of the box, need update firmware where the process is not friendly for normal user. even after updated to latest firmware, the [enter] doesn't response in youtube app search.

- the tv box softbricked (bootloop) after updated supersu (it prompts you to update it on notification bar, stuck forever on boot logo after update the supersu app). according to my friend who using the same box, he revived the box by using twrp and install other version supersu. i tangan gatal go try use amlogic memory card recovery to flash Z69 tv box firmware and i thought i have hardbricked it because no more boot screen no more blue light...lol. luckily found firmware on 4pda forum, flash using amlogic usb recovery and it is alive again.

- all the usb ports don't have enough juice to power up external hdd, pendrive is ok.
because i bought this Docooler M9S Pro 3GB/32GB very cheap (half of its normal price), so it is still not bad for me to watch video from kodi, browser and streaming app. if you want to get a new cheap tv box, i will suggest you to look for others.

Funny with this rom, it is not rooted, it have to be rooted to run AOTG.

Not all root detection work the same way.

It works on my rooted phone.

I could not test it with my tvbox because the bloody tvbox I haven't figured out if it is possible to go SYSTEMLESS ( aka alter boot image ).

Hi fruitie, congratz on the new box. I am actually eyeing the same box but have a few query if you dont mind. I have the same purpose on buying this box, mainly for AOTG & ViU. Secondly i am looking for capable box playing 4k Netflix & Youtube out of the box. Wonder if Minix U1 is capable?  Thanks in advanced
p/s: those apps are not available in Android TV OS. Did you sideload them?
