the HD2600XT priced at usd199 rite? it should be round RM700-850 price like 8600GTS..

can this baby fight the 8800gts
*
Nobody knows this yet, but I believe it wont be as fast as 8800GTS since its not targeted to compete with it, probably R600GTO with cut down pipes and memory will beat 8800GTS

Culver City (CA) - At around this time tomorrow, we'll be in the air on our way to Tunisia Africa for AMD's R600 media event.  AMD is sparing no expense for this press junket and, according to an AMD rep, have basically reserved the entire Sheraton Tunis Hotel for hundreds of media from around the world and "few dozen" AMD executives and other employees.

AMD will be showing off their next-generation R600 graphics card for both desktops and mobile platforms.  Most of the journalists should land sometime on April 22nd and the actual briefings will occur on the 23rd and 24th.

Unfortunately, you'll have to wait for all the juicy technical details because the reporters have signed a non-disclosure agreement that forbids them to talk for several weeks.  Of course that could prove difficult with hundreds of reporters in one spot.  Maybe AMD will sic the lions and cheetahs on reporters who get out of line. laugh.gif

The R600 launch comes at a crucial point in AMD's history because it's hemorrhaging money.  The chip maker reported a $611 million dollar quarterly loss yesterday and this launch could help turn things around.

The actual launch of the card will happen late May early June. rclxub.gif

arent you going for the R rather than the RV?

I don't necessarily buy something even if i find it interesting. It's just that it will be a great performance/watt part, and i have always been hoping for a large improvement in this area. Seems like i'll finally see it happen with the RV6xx series.

Today we saw FX57.net disclosed the R600 3DMark06 test results in VISTA.

Test platform:

Processor: Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 2.93GHz
Mainboard: Intel i975X
Memory: DDR2-800 2GB
OS: Windows Vista
Driver: Catalyst 7.1(8.33), ForceWare 97.44

The score of R600XTX 1GB is about 12000 while NVIDIA 8800GTX 10500. R600XTX is higher than 8800GTX about 15%. R600XT reached 10000 but 8800GTS is 9000.

Yup, I believe ATI wait for new games with more demanding graphic to do comparison. G80 early release is just to grab more buyer tongue.gif

It should beat the 8600gts lah. The 8600 series not as great a leap as expected.

Ok is the article saying 3dmark, 2600-2105, and 20 fps faster than gts in need for speed???

The first picture is obvious shoop. Look how wrong is the focus between the motherboard and the card itself.
