bro read my post again eh. withdraw epf to pay housing loan but the money goes into your bank account. use said money to channel into fsm and buy into prs funds
*
This is not really a loop hole in the type that when discovered nothing can be done to you (The Trump kind lol). If somehow or someway this was uncovered by either the bank lending your home loan or EPF, then the bank has the right to charge you straight full OPR lending rate for your whole principal outstanding.

Not like he did not pay to his housing loan.

EPF paid into his bank account then he pay his housing loan using the same bank account.

So how do you differentiate that money is from KWSP or his own savings?
P/S: I did the same thing, just that the EPF money goes into the loan account for regular installment instead of principal repayment and then free up my cash flow for the same purpose, UT.
*
I sincerely agree with what you say. I assume every RM you withdraw from EPF you top up back the same amount into the housing loan first, then should be no way to penalise you.

The question is when you don't have as much and directly channel to UTF, or PRS or xyz vehicle.

Meh. it is a non issue to me. people see funds close they rush but they forget that they should have done their monthly DCA and allocated each fund a certain percentage in their portfolio.

These few days made me realize majority of the FSM investors here practice auntie and uncle style of rushed investment.

PS I just topped 500 myr into kapchai AS PER PLANNED DCA. by next month if the fund opens I'll still do my dca. if it closes I'll just place it in my stocks.  like I said non issue.
*
this the problem, if you are a DCA guy it'll wreck your plans no? Open ended funds are more fun (pun not intended).

I don't understand your question.

Distribution has no impact on your unit trust value.

Distribution is given from earnings which has already been tax. It's not like they tax the distribution again.
*
Hence my question, do we get taxed on income distribution? In my experience some unit trust distribution, the holder will be pre taxed 25%. This in some way does dilute the value no? Meaning every RM1 distribution that was announced, RM0.25 was already paid to LHDN beforehand.

Please enlighten a noob.

Would you consider investing in ASM as an equivalent to Bond funds?

Looking at the recent year for bond funds (Malaysian) not been doing well at all, while I'm already having a substantial investment in ASM.

I wonder should I rebalance and let go of my bond funds.

Currently my ASM built up over the years is around 40% of my total investments while there is about 5% in bond funds. I am absolutely not keen on selling my ASM, but just want to re-build or re balance my unit trust portfolio.

I believe I'm a moderately aggressive investor.

Yes, i treat ASM as fixed income funds.
I suggest u to stay away from unit trust becuase [B]1.66%[[COLOR=red]/B] drops already make u so nervous  doh.gif .
I wonder wha will du do during market crash like 2008... it was a drop of 60% or even worse.

Yes Fixed price funds (ASW2020 is my only holding).

I wondered whatever happened to good old fashioned DCA, because if you'd done that I believe any funds recently bleeding would've been giving a decent return to you instead.

Besides, there is a small fee usually 1.75% per entry into the funds, that has to be catered for in the short term losses.

All I'm trying to say is the same as Master xuzen said, hang in there and ride it out. There is no such thing as guaranteed positive growth all the time.

I think you guys have misunderstood me a bit. My advise is not targetted to those of you who lost money recently (all of us have, save the Master).

Mine is targetted to those who only recently started investing and have come in with lump sums and now start to feel shaky and want to exit. Good analysis should still prevail, good markets, sectors, and fundamentals. No?

I am new to this Forum (Just  started reading this Forum in Early 2017)

Started with FSM Managed Portfolio - Agressive Portfolio

Started in 31 May 2017
1. June Statement: -4.28% Loss
2. July Statement: 3.32% Profit
3. Sept Statement :3.16% Profit
4. October Statement: 6.86% Profit
5. November Statement: 3.67% Profit

So year to date so far averaging about 3.5% Profit... still less than FD ... IMHO ... maybe i should switch to Balanced Poftfolio ...
*
Goodness. Having a profit at all is a good thing, at these markets peaking and so early into the game. You've only been invested for 6 months so a 3.67% return annualized should be somewhere close to 7.3% p.a. a few things to remember is that every entry into the portfolio incurs a one time charge of ard 1.75%, so add that up and you're actually at 8% per annum.

If only my first foray into UT was this smooth many years ago, I'd have been so much closer to early retirement.

Just always remember that in the short term there is nothing to see, look or get excited about in UT. Just monitor the markets and make sure your funds equal or outperform.

Guys, some question on managed portfolio.

For example Aggressive portfolio ; the charges are one time 1.25% and annually 0.50% in 4 quarters.

If the funds internally like Titans fund have their own management fee, will it be charged to us also?

What do you guys think about the managed portfolio?

My take is that it may not be such a bad idea, assuming it meets its benchmark right? In lumpsum investments I also dare not say my 10k shot will hit 8-10% per annum, over a long period...

It has been a norm to receive ang pau packets (unloaded) from FSM. They are quite nice in quality.

While last year has been a hurray, managing to maintain a double digit IRR, my portfolio didn't manage 15% ROI for the year.
