Don't be so shallow minded lah. 2014-2016 have been poor years for Malaysian equities, it's no surprised EPF has been down these few years. PB Mutual Malaysian funds are no better really. Negative returns most of their Malaysian funds.

No, it's not the best way. It can even be a really lousy way.

For Cost Averaging to be profitable, it depends on the average-cost in future to be higher than the average-cost today.

Or put it another way, if you look at the fund performance chart, it should trend upwards over time, given a few up/down blip every now and then, but the general trend should be upwards.

But many funds do not achieve this. Quite a number are negative over time, and others barely keep their head above water, on average. Hence, the common impression that the return is around FD or worse.

When fund agents (and even fund houses) tell you about cost-averaging, they "forgot" to tell you about this particular point - the fund MUST trend upwards over time.

To demonstrate, from the old FSM performance 5-year table, 111 funds are 0-4% returns, and 75 are NEGATIVE returns. Cost averaging is not going to help in these cases.

I haven't come across where the new FSM tables are, but in general, the new website is a backward step.

Those buy RHB UT please be careful.
They have too much in mex 1 & 2 bonds even for equity funds and all have been downgraded. Mex 2 now abandon for 2 years and the fund now going to collapse due to concentrated risk.

I was lucky spotted it early and switch to other fund house. I still feel someone inside using it to bail out their buddies looking at the total amount rhbam put in.

Got any data that shows other equity funds are into mex 2 sukuk?

I'm wondering if this also occurs across the board ie other bond funds.

Like I said a few days back, bond funds are not without risk, and in case of defaults or even just a down rating, the fund value will drop speculatively. Because the coupons can be worth any value less than the actual principle value, not even just the loss of dividend.

Just go look at fund fact sheet ... start with kid save

Just checked my managed portfolio, I think they just bought units in RHB i-Global Sustainable Disruptors very recently. No fact sheet as it is very new I guess. Should have similar concern?

I think when you buy any funds from RHB just read the fund factsheet, it will state how are funds being invested. For example RHB Artificial Intelligence Fund it will mention 98% of funds are invested in the Allianz Artificial Inteligence Fund. If it doesnt state so then it is managed by the local fund manager.

I know past performance doesnt really reflect actual performance but if you filter best performing fund last one year, except for RHB Aritifical Intelligence Fund, RHB Syariah Focus China Fund (managed by RHB itself) and RHB Big Cap China Fund (managed by RHB itself), i dont think any other RHB fund are in the top 30 ones. This should be your guide on choosing the RHB funds.

Correcto. I am curious why many not research before buying or adjust their portfolio.

This fund totally bailout. 100% at mex. damn obvious concentrated risk. No diversification ?
CIO Michael fixed income should be questioned. Overall rhb exposure very high and unrated bond.

Note : not a buy or sell call.
