Anything that can be goreng is being goreng-ed, from bankrupt companies to random joke cryptos. When will the party stop? Will it be a gradual good bye as one by one they leave or will it be a crash when reality hits?

Thing is, seems to be nothing on the horizon to indicate any halt yet, vaccinations rising, tech booming, governments printing money like toilet paper. Or maybe that's what the media wants us to believe?

Because on the ground the average small business Joes like retailers, hospitality, creative industry, etc is suffering real bad, they might have escaped by a combination of moratoriums, financial assistance, temporary windfall from equity, temporary pivot to other sources of income. But their underlying problem remains: their main source of revenue is simply not here anymore.

Sorry for the long post, just my evening musings 🙏. As I am one of those small Joes.

If yes please share the fund name
I just did a top up on Manulife AP Reits Fund

Me too. Betting on a long term recovery. And on Affinhwang Asia pacific reits.

Side note, have began taking profit from China, not sure if I'm being premature.

China to Overtake US Economy by 2026 – Not Too Late to Invest Now

🙈 Sorry mum your son is probably a fool.

I started taking profit off the A-shares fund waiting for pullback. Find the valuations pretty sky high and seems that the chinese are rotating into hkex. That's why I'm still holding (adding?) greater china.

Bonds, like equities, have been running hot for a long time. I think some pullback was inevitable.

Guys I can't get this out of my head.

Whatever portfolio I design and backtested 5 years it can't beat Eastspring Investments Dinasti Equity Fund alone. So why should I diversify? If I can stomach the volatility I just can invest single fund only right? Sorry for the dumb question.

You put all your eggs in one basket, but if you're very confident in that basket, great!

I have friends who went all in on bitcoin, and now they don't need to ever work again!

On the flip side I have friends who went all in on CIMB or Genting! And now they cry to everyone who will listen.

Unfortunately I could never bring myself to yolo like that.

Haha.

Liquidate all my remaining gold position today. I still keep a small percentage in Precious Metals. But if they dont improve in the near term, I probably liquidate it as well. Opportunity cost to reward not there anymore.
*
Same thoughts... Sold half of my gold today on the rebound. Move it to try catch the falling china tech knives.

I don't think I will dispose gold entirely...a little in the port for insurance.. Maybe.

"Gold has posted a relatively sizeable rebound as the Biden stimulus package comes back into focus," says chief analyst Rhona O'Connell at brokerage StoneX.

The above sentence said that, USD up will rebound the Gold Market ?
So USD up, Gold market will follow up ?

I am confused !!
*
Nothing about usd up said in that sentence my friend. if anything stimulus = printing money = devalue

Did anyone hang on to the drop during last year March, care to share how long you have hold on and have you gain any profit out of it?
*
I didn't sell anything in UT, I did panic sell some weaker bursa counters (and hung on to a few blue chips). I remember on the first week being extremely hesitant whether to top up or not, whether the market hit a bottom yet, and contemplating whether it was truly the end of my world (as my work was at a complete stop after march and never really recovered even until now): did a little in the end, after that started slowly topping up every two weeks or so, and when china reopened, bought in every few days. With hindsight should have, could have, added much more aggressively, but oh well.

Yeah I am feeling exactly same feelings like how you did. Well ppl always say UT is for long term but we are too impatient to wait it out. I still havent top up though will see next week.
*
Could go either way right? Despite the "big" drop, markets still very high, eg HSI is 2k points over dec close if im not mistaken.

Really crazy and learning lesson to me, should've been fast hands like stock market

Imho you just bought too much too late.. My remaining china and tech funds are still quite comfortably green..(and I sold off rhb shariah in Feb peak and reentered recently)

Just because the past few month both of the selected fund seem to growth pretty well. Duly noted with the advice. I might need to reconsider my investment growth after this.

Consider:

Growth is rarely in a straight line.

No pain no gain.

What goes up must come down.

Be greedy when others are fearful and be fearful when others are greedy.

Hahaha. But it doesn't mean it won't outperform nasdaq this year. There is a fair chance this will happen.

That is very true. The large tech stocks are way too heavy to move anywhere but down and sideways now, I think.
