hmm.gif dividend tax on reits in Spore?

Non-Taxable Dividends
Generally, the following dividends are not taxable:
a) Dividends paid on or after 1 Jan 2008 by a Singapore resident company under the one-tier corporate tax system except co-operatives;

c) Income distribution from Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), except distributions derived by individuals through a partnership in Singapore, or from the carrying on of a trade, business or profession in REITs.

https://www.iras.gov.sg/IRASHome/Individual...-Not/Dividends/
Effective 1 Jan 2008, Singapore resident companies can issue one-tier tax exempt dividends.
This means shareholders will not be taxed on this dividend income.
However, dividends received from shares in co-operatives are taxable.

Generally, income distribution from Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) and unit trusts are exempt from income tax.
This excludes distribution derived by individuals:
a. Through a partnership in Singapore; or
b. From the carrying on of a trade, business or profession.

If we are buying REIT funds rather than REIT itself, why should we be concerned of the tax?
The NAV of REIT funds should be net of tax.

Not sustainable.

If anything, the fund manager is more like a trader rather than an investor.

1:3 ratio for bond:equities is good enough from your experience ?
which other equity replacement is worth looking at since TAGTF & Greater China is higher now.

will read more Amchina-A, tq

The ratio is really up to your risk tolerance. It depend on how much u can stomach a drop. This depends on your financial goals. If u are older, then u need a more stable portfolio, usually more bonds and lesser equity, and vice versa.

At this moment I dont see anything to replace TAGTF & Greater China. All relative performing funds are also very high right now for me.

My thoughts:
If you invest for retirement, and you are just in your 30+, investing in bond fund is not necessary. Our EPF has similar risk like bond funds.
But if your investment horizon is 2-3 years, then you can consider bond funds.

My FI stands at 70%, hence my port is not as aggressive as yours.

The difference is I more pandai select fund than you.  cool2.gif

I selected US + China and dumped REITs whereas you choose Asia-Pac + REITs.

this China etf...is there any sales charge or any annual management fees?

..which one usually performed better? the active managed one like UT or the passive one like ETF?
*
Actively managed funds are based on value investing. ETF is not.

Let's say there is an ETF for KLCI. When people buy the ETF, fund houses will use the money to buy the component stocks of KLCI. This will push up the stocks' price, which in turn will push up the ETF value.
When people see ETF generate good returns, they invest more. Again fund houses buy the component stocks of KLCI, thereby push up the stocks' price, and the ETF value.
The cycle continues... until the bubble bursts.

ETF is attractive because of the lower management fees, but I am not really comfortable to its concept.

I think the main thing is risk appetite.
Buying UT - at least have fund manager to make decision for you
Buying stock- depend on yourself . How to choose from thousand over stocks.. If simply follow other to buy easily lose more than the extra charge
*
I used to study Bursa stocks when I was working in my ex-company. Back then I had plenty of free time in the office.
But I am busier with my current job. Don't feel like spending too much time to study the stocks. Not to mention I have lost confidence with MY's government. So for now I am content with UT.

What is the % allocated to each of the 5 funds?

The 2 Principal funds have the bigger shares.

But I am seeking diversification to other funds, not portfolio re-adjustment.

You need to buy some fixed income, bonds, reits or commodities to balanced it

Are you looking just equities UT or can be anything else?
*
Equity or balanced (mixed).
Not eyeing pure bond funds, since our EPF is not high risk too.
