galvanized wire is not good for hamster cage, cause hamster will bite the galvanized wire netting. This will cause future brain damage and the galvanized is poison when been eaten.
Surf to hamster website frequently on the care a hamster.
So I hope your hamster never bite the cage.

Refer to the picture on the gender.

Normally small size is female and the bigger 1 is male tongue.gif .

I think they just playing each others. rclxm9.gif

Added on March 19, 2007, 3:19 pmNormally syrian wouldn't bite.
They very tame.
Let me tell u all, hamster exactly know their owner.
Like my Robos and WWs, they allow me to bring them out of the cage only.
Other people they will bite and run as far as they can.

Especially my Male WW, he will know when I come near to him while he is sleeping and wanted me to carry him out from the cage.
I put him on my palm and he just move around.
Quit Cute.

But my Female WW, got sick. Her eye got infection, I try saline 2 day already. Still not yet recover. Feel sad on her and she is thin too compare to the Male.

This is serious. Bring to vet, don't just wait....

There is a high chance that your WW may not make it. Any recent high falls or fights? Cold room? A vet told me that the reason why so many hamsters these days fall sick easily is because of petshops getting their supplies from suppliers who inbreed.... so it has become common for our hamsters to suddenly fall sick and die the next day.
*
No any fall on my ww.

Ok, I will sent my hamster to see vet

So, i kenot jz put them in the plastic bag  doh.gif.  Can keep for how long?? My hamsters eat very little only - around 4 or 5 per hammie.
*
Put on a plastic box(never use), place the meal worm into the box with bread.

They can eat the bread, I do this to keep the meal worm alive for about 2 weeks. No die occur

Important thing is the meal worm must surround by water to prevent the ant attack.

Why do try the CHIPSI plus Green Apple for bedding.

I used this about 1/2 years, no smell and hamster like it.

I changes this also because of the smell.

At starting, the smell was horrible(in put in my dinning).

My mother complain me on the smell.

So I decide to changes the bedding.

At last I found this CHIPSI plus Green Apple.

No more smell, mom not more make noise. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Gerbil also can used this CHIPSI plus Green Apple as bedding

Any bedding that is scented is a no no for rodents.... lemon, apple... ai, not good. Like what Reanne said.... the phenols and chemicals in the bedding can harm the hamster. This is why majority of hamster keepers these days use wood pellets, recycled paper cat litter and corn cob. Chipsi Super is quite ok since it uses Beech wood which is safer than softwood... but it still smells strange to me...
There is no way you can avoid the mom from cannibalizing the babies. Sometimes the pup died for nothing so naturally the mom would eat the body to clean up the cage.... or maybe the pup born cacat? Then the mom would end its life....

Just leave her alone. I would say never place the male back since the male will automatically breed with her again. It may sound nice where the male got teman the female blah blah.... but we must think of the outcome later.

Leave extra food, feed mealworms. Scrambled eggs is better. The yolk has nutrition while the egg white is high in protein.

Cover the cage, place in a quite place that has no direct sun light. Keep the water bottle full and food bowl full with the normal hamster food. That is enough. Only begin to touch the mom and babies when already 2 weeks old.
If between those 2 dwarf... i like WW coz they look like they are wearing shoes LOL.... got thick padded feet. Campbells and Syrians got mousy feet.
Robos cute but not handle friendly.... So this is why I do not like.

Among the three.... WW lah... but I like Syrian also since their personality and size is good to handle.

Maybe your hamsters do not drink enough water.... coz when hamsters drink lots of water, they pee more and smell more.
Hahah... BC is memang best.

Yes, the RC male will help to take care of the babies.... well, from what I have seen, the male will never be aggressive towards his own pups and will sometimes sleep with them or eat with them. Robos do that too. Aiyah, almost all dwarf species make good mom and dads.... but its just that if we put them together, sure will have pups very often.

looks like very serious comment.

I will try the next bedding Chipsi classis.

Thank for the info.

How to push my WW-female become chubby. She is quit thin after the sick.

She prefer to eat soft food like broccoli(push in hot water to wash) and break.

Any supplement can my her chubby.

I bought 2 type of food from pet safari, Kaytee Healthy Bits for Hamsters & Gerbils and 1 more is from japan(smell delicious).

Anybody try before Kaytee for their hamster?

Is kaytee brand good ?

Is Supreme Petfoods Harry Hamster good for Hamster?

This is because I read the National Hamster Council, the organization recommend this brand for hamster.

when i want to buy the partner..i dunno what is the type so the guy at the petshop at midvalley did ask me how does it behave..so i tell him it like garang2 one and love to bite ..if put in aquarium ..the dinding can merekah-rekah one....then that guy trus recognise which one is it..he said usually people call it the 'local hamster'..dunno why.. that type is quite garang and cannot mixed with others..because their teeth is something2..forgot wut did that gut said.
mine , the robos, we can hold it without have to worry..it did not bite2 one but as u all now..they love to run here, there, doing some bungee jump if we put them on higher place(i thought it will not jump like my sister's hammie) and very good on escaping from our genggaman tgn..haiyaa.. laugh.gif ..only the small bubuye lar..the big bubuye..he will try to bite if i did hold it a bit kuat..hahah..if i just put it on my palm..it just run-run and jump2 saja icon_idea.gif

Harry Hamster and Prestige is good... better than LM brands...

Now both Harry Hamster and Prestige is out of stock at Pet Safari.

Anyway, I never use mini hamster... I use the herbs and fruits Prestige... er... the normal kind lah. The thing is, maybe your hamsters eat a lot of royal canin so they prefer the taste of royal canin than those pellets.... ai, no need to worry lah. As long your hamsters eat the rest is fine. We cannot force hamsters to eat everything....
*
I had order 4 packs of Harry Hamster from Singapore Pet Lovers Centre through online. Cost me about $9.24(RM20.61 per pack) not include shipping cost.

This is because I no time to go KL or Klang Valley,.

Too busy
