QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Mar 8 2007, 08:15 AM) I do not think it's oily food. Don't use human shampoo or soap to bath the Hamster.I just Googled hamster hair loss, the_catacombs, you should try and read up about it there. Anyway, hairloss got a few types... 1 is from bad nutrition... well, I think you feed your hamster well rite? Sometimes hair loss can be a sign of vitamin problems... Another would be mites.... they are really microscopic mites so you cannot see with your eyes, must use microscope lah. Normally can call this mange. You hamster got any dandruff coming out? If yes, bring to vet to treat. Another thing about hairloss... hamsters around 2 years old is considered old in hamsters... and just like old people, we also experience hair loss.... so old hamsters will have hair loss... but yours only at the butt... so... I do not think it could be a sign of old age yet. "Hair Loss ( Alopecia ) Hair loss can occur for a number of reasons in hamsters. This loss of hair can be due to both disease and nondisease conditions. Continual rubbing on feeders or sides of the cage as well as protein deficiency and barbering (hair chewing by cage mates), are examples of nondisease causes of alopecia. Infestation with demodectic mites is one of the most common infectious causes of patchy alopecia and scaling in hamsters. Other conditions that lead to hair loss include adrenal tumors, thyroid deficiency, and chronic renal disease. Some of these conditions may be correctable, while others are not." http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&A=679&S=5 I experience it before on my Syrian. After that, all my the hamster will bath with warm water only. |

Normally they have separate them from the sex.crazymouse advise me before on the sex. Don't buy from the same shop if you want to breed. Buy from another shop, so the baby will be normal. I got 2 Robos male. Never think to breed them. But my wws is going to product baby, hahaha Added on March 9, 2007, 6:34 pm QUOTE(Syrian @ Mar 9 2007, 05:42 PM) I bought them inside of Sunway Pyramid - Pets Safari .. no way to hold them in your palm.I can't even handle the robo at the moment .. they're very jumpy. they try to escape from your hand. QUOTE(anizarina @ Mar 9 2007, 05:22 PM) hehe...this is my lovely bubuye..hikhik..i dun know izit female or male..bubuye love to watch tv with me .it oso love to sit on my sholuder....this morning..it do bungee jump that scared me to death..ya laa..it is quite small but still suka nk buat bungee jump..muahh..sometime my hamster quite active..i used to take off the wheel one nite and the next morning my bubuye start to bit the cages and like a crazy hamster..it jumping there and here..hihi..comel siot!!!!!!!! why ha..when i hold it, it love to throw off the food on its mouth and i find some of it its shit..aiyark..what can i do huh?the feeding bottle oso i have changed 3 times..it love to put the serbuk kayu on the ball at the drinking bottle..aiyark..my bubuye oso love to eat watermelon..because i used to try feed it with limau mandarin..it doesnt like it..hehe.. sometime, when i just left it out of its cage..when the time to catch it..it can run very fast even faster than me and it can do drifting oso..heh ..cute! FYI, Foods to avoid * Chocolates * Henbane * Oak leaves * Buttercups * Laurel leaves * Hemlock * Garlic * Onions * Junk food * Citrus food -Sticky/sharp food as these may cause trouble in your hamster's cheek pouch. -Sweet and oily food as they causes obesity. -Vegetables and other high moisture content food should be fed in moderation to prevent diarrhoea. -Although hamsters are omnivorous, it is better and healthier to stick with a vegetarian diet. Some books had also suggested that consuming meat encourage the cannibalism of young by adult hamsters. This post has been edited by dazzle: Mar 9 2007, 11:15 PM |

I just back from Safari pet in Ikono.
Bought 1 mini habitrail cage and tiub for my robos. Did you heard before panda hamster(told by the promoter from the safari pet)? Got this type of hasmter? nvm buy cause scare is mix from different species. A lot of bedding stuff over there. The Hamster of there is thin and young(4 weeks). No so chubby. I prefer to buy from Malacca. Melaka 1 look active. This post has been edited by dazzle: Mar 10 2007, 08:52 PM |

QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Mar 10 2007, 10:36 PM) Yups, a hybird but it is a better hybrid in terms of character and colour than other type of hybrids... and the hybrids have been developed thru many generations already so got quality.... if we simply take a WW and a campbell... then something bad may come out of it... yalo, so young have to put for sale. very pity. Those sold at Pet Safari are way too young.... kinda high risk of falling sick.... Panda hamster... it means the colour. It's a black dwarf with a white collar or partly some white on the face and neck... I got 2 from my own breedings heheheh.... and more to come soon. They are actually Russian Campbells... If you guys ever buy woodshavings.... try and avoid Sluis wood shavings coz it is very dusty. Go for either Chipsi or Delikate or Kaytee since less dust... also avoid Pine and Cedar. I used to buy Chipsi woodshaving only. Dunno want to try other(for safety reason). My male Robo is grow about 2 1/2 inch. Do you think is normal to him? He got alot of excise. Added on March 10, 2007, 11:10 pmcrazymouse, My friend ask me why his robo fight each other. 1 male 1 female, buy from different place(just bought about 5 hours already). Can you advise me. QUOTE(Syrian @ Mar 11 2007, 10:50 PM) in previous posts, reanne mentioned that cat kibbles are very high in protein. So, can i give that to my syrian instead of mealworms, crickets, etc in order to make him chubby? If yes, how many pieces can i give to him - max per day. 2pcs is enough per day and depend on your hamster sizeThis post has been edited by dazzle: Mar 11 2007, 11:47 PM |

QUOTE(anizarina @ Mar 12 2007, 03:00 PM) haha..my robos can ran very faster even faster than me...if i manage to catch it, it can sneak out from my palm easily and ran as fast as they can..sometime if it seem like lazy, i can manage to hold it and watch tv or read book together. buy the habitrail, like mushroom.haiya..so what is the best brand for the bottle?mine one not sure but it is purple in colour that have screw to hold it.this is the 3rd bottle i but for them..they LOVE to put those serbuk kayu on the bottle because, everytime it is leaking, there must be the serbuk kayu at the drinking rod.and now, the bottle never stop leaking..until i have to feed them like a baby... one more thing..they hate KUACI look nice in your cage. (but must be big cage) no leaking issue This post has been edited by dazzle: Mar 12 2007, 04:05 PM |

Thank for your advise crazymouse, I will stop them eating the mealworm
Last night, I let them out of the cage and running around about 45 min in my house and plus me play with them. I hope they will burn out all the fat from their body. Anyway, I prefer my hamster to eat cereal. My hamster all are healthy and happy. |
