It seems that Proton Iriz cannot stand side impact collision (T-Bone), presumably at high speed. From the photo, judging by the deployment of driver's curtain airbag, this Iriz is a Premium variant. The car's body is severely deformed.

I believe so too. Because last time Preve got T bone and safe as well. Iriz is 'compact' car. Perhaps not enough space for crumple zone. One of the reasons why Nissan Teana got perfect score for ASEAN NCAP was because its crumple zone
https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2465279 Proton Preve 12 HPF parts versus Proton Iriz, only 8 parts:

I think think the pajerk vgt if it doesnt topple, side impact seems ok especially against smaller cars. My friends pajero vgt got t boned by a kancil. The kancil front severely damaged, total loss, the pajero no injuries and still can be repaired. Most of the damages taken by the pajero side bars for u to stand up. Size does matter i guess.

Based on the news the Iriz made a u turn and assume that Audi TT was above 100km/h.

Kena T-bone at 80kmh have very slim chance of survival for any compact.
