when i bought my exora (new), we traveled all over malaysia. then when in KL, there was some vibration on the front tires whenever i go above 90. so i went to a workshop near my parents' house to get it checked out. the pomen told me about the screw bengkok. so i agreed to change it (naive!).

drove back to JB. it was fine for a few days, then the vibration starts again. went to the proper proton workshop. this small, young tudung girl checked my car and laughed out loud at the "expensive looking" camber screw and told me i was scammed.

malu bodoh. that girl couldnt be more than 20.

actually, you are not only one been scammed like this before..alot of people felt into this kind of bullshit nowadays when they make a visit to tyre shop. need to share info about this camber screw myth/scam so that people are aware, and doesnt fell into this trap

usually they will show you your tire wear pattern (wear on edge) without first asking customer "did you maintain your tyre pressure?"..because, alot of time people are just doesnt care about tyre pressure, and low tyre pressure can contribute to wear on the edge of the tyre.

then they willl show some value on the monitor, when you ask which one is camber value, toe value, caster etc2, some foreman also dont know which one is which lol..

somemore, if you go to different shop, and your car already equipped with camber screw, they will say the camber screw is lousy one, need to change..walao..

but yeah, in certain cases you do need camber value, but not that easy..i've seen a 10 years proton waja doesnt even need camber alignment..only toe alignment needed, and it works just fine..

Not all cars have adjustable cambers. Best is to Google and find out if your car has it. If your cambers are not adjustable, boycott any shop that asks you to change it.

they will ask you change both sides, but u can change one. terus terang the PC screen show one side out of alignment.
so i told them only one side need to adjust. dun try to sell me something i dont need.

do alignment first and see if one or both sides need adjustments.

Last i do my tyre alignment from any tyre shop, 90% sure ask to add this chamber screw, cost like rm30 per pcs, required 2 pcs.

So usually for car alignment and balancing cost like rm50 + this rm60 chamber.

After bought new car, just straight away do alignment and balancing at SC for rm70 which without this chamber scam unit.

At least it got warranty if u complaint after the service

I think most of tyre shops I have been sure recommend me to change this part. My previous car after changed that part for a few months, then I went to another shop to change the tyres, the pomen recommend me to change that part again. Dang scammer.

sometimes also they get their parts expensive ma, for example, the shop i go to service, they use benz ori oil filter (come in benz ori box) rm70 (which i am sure their cost over 50)...while i buy bosch one rm20 from the benz stockist.

Ya i knew one time in kedai apek. Absorber and tyre when langgar lubang sudah start bunyik krik krik...they say need tukar both absorber mounting and some besi below...tukar only 1 part that time coz no money, and they warn, kenot tahan 1 part only u must come back soon.

After that go kedai melayu workshop to change the other one. He said the new one apek shop pasang macam sengaja pasang longgar, gap very big. Also he check the besi below all perfect no need tukar. That was the last nail in the coffin...i will nvr go to those scam apek workshop again

alignment..can check from tire condition, it can tell you if it makan side or tengah..due to alignment or camber problem..
really got to rely on honest tire shop to check on it first.

Normally i do allignment every 6 months once or about 10k km. Then do tyre rotation as well.
Camber screw original ones are very thick and strong. Only if you kena accident or pot hole until tyre burst or rim bent, and damage it, then you have to inspect for damage. If not, i wont bother replacing the camber screw at all.
I did brake disc skim for RM80 per piece, not per pair in Klang Valley. Myanmar guy come do for me.
Tyre wear pattern not only depends on wheel alignment but also the human attitude. Lazy people who dont go check tyre pressure frequently (although its free in this country), will have uneven tyre wear due to under-inflation.

Screw those penipu scammer tyre shops. Just changed 4 pieces of tyre, they told me I need to change camber screw, stock screw not adjustable, and my tyre makan dalam, simple alignment can't solve the prob, I tell them I will come the next day. Later on I went to seek for 2nd opinion from some older tyre shop, the uncle told me there is no need to change to adjustable camber screw , nowadays most of the tyre shops wanna earn extra. He proceeded to do simple alignment, only charge me rm10. Malaysia is full of penipu scammers nowadays.

Recently I sent a car for check up at tyre workshop.
Car hit something in the front, scratched the bumper at one corner near the tyre. Caused steering wheel significantly lari(too much).
After done the checking, lower arm bengkok a bit. Can confirm this is legit(saw it myself, compare with other one, and the scratch mark was there).
Damage: rm10(rotate tyres), rm20(alignment), rm40(nut kit/adjust camber)

Car is Myvi btw.

It's their way to make money since god knows when. Alignment charge itself doesn't include the camber nut adjustment. Alignment, different charges, adjust camber nut, different charges... plus attempt to sell us the 'adjustable' camber nut because the original one 'can't be adjusted' lol
