I will continue to hold on to my 980ti until such time that my FPS sinks below 50. That will be the trigger point

Same here, holding the 980Ti, just going to enjoy playing new games.

my OCed water-cooled 980Ti with custom EVGA BIOS is still rocking my life out man!!  bruce.gif  tongue.gif

1080Ti is still nowhere to be found though and that makes me sad  tongue.gif

I'm also having fun OC mine, Zotac Reference mod with Artic AX3 cooler.

possible 1070 price down.. less 200...??  laugh.gif

See that big price gap between 1080 and Titan XP? That's where 1080 Ti will be, a RM4.5k card... Not going to make the already cheap 1070 any cheaper.

If 20xx is just a refresh, can expect the GTX680 -> GTX770 pattern.
You're right about VEGA being the reason for price major price adjustments IF AMD can come close to TITAN XP perf.

love the 1080ti price/pef.
hate the exchange rate.
it is only $50 more than 980ti when it was first launch, and back then the 980ti was really just RM2.8k.

I don't have a 4k monitor, so I'll hold off until 2080ti in 2019. Maybe I'll get a 6 or 8 core cpu instead.

did u ever claimed warranty? buying local or overseas is LPPL. after one year we need to pay extra fees & wait for very long time.
*

I see. That bad huh local warranty. So better buy Zotac and EVGA (new cooling) then.

Yeah I get what you mean, I'm running my X34A on 980ti, surely not enough to get 100fps.

I choose moderately high refresh rate at 1440p oppose to sharper 60hz 4k because after seeing what 144hz is like, the 60hz does not feel that smooth anymore.

I think the sweet spot will be 3840x2160 120hz, but display port don't have enough bandwidth for that. Hopefully monitor and GPU makers will agree on TB3 thru USBc ports soon with very low input lag.

On to monitors, am wondering should I change to acer predator xb271hu. Am using LG29UM57 now. I like the ultrawide but in the other hand I really wanna try 144hz and Gsync. Just not sure if getting xb271hu now will be a wise decision or not.  unsure.gif
*
I don't have the XB271HU but I did used and enjoyed the XB270HU. There IS a difference between 100hz and 144hz, but like what others has mentioned, you really need to be playing specific games on powerful rigs to take advantage of that, such as competitive FPS and racing games.

After using the X34A, I don't think I'll ever go back to 16:9 anymore for that extra 44hz. I say go for the 21:9 1440p monitor. Unless you play a lot of SC2 and Overwatch.

Unless you demand ALL ULTRA setting for all new games, GTX1070 still ok. Even all ultra and you're getting 40-50fps, with G-sync it's still bearable ( at least for me  biggrin.gif  )
Let's wait 38" 3840x1600 become mainstream  cool2.gif
*
You're right, that's around what I get when playing Wildlands with 980Ti. Although the 1080Ti looks great, but it still don't have enough oomph for stable ULTRA @ 100fps.

If Strix is already priced at RM4.3k, Poseidon maybe they'll slap RM5k tag on it. Ridiculous!
*
Wow, 5k....
If someone want to water cool it, might as well buy the cheapest 1080TI and a water block yourself than to buy a Poseidon.
If water-cooling tubes are just plug and play, I will understand why someone would get the Poseidon, but it's more difficult than to put the block on right?
If wanted air-cool, the Strix has better cooling than Poseidon too.

I've never mess with custom loop, so I'm not sure here.
