I often wonder about this...whether to top up ASx or use that fund to pay off additional instalment. Mortgage interest rate is around 4.25%...ASx dividend around 6%. Guess it does make more sense to go with ASx, right?

Hey all, just wondering is it worth to invest a small portion of EPF money to ASx (be it ASB for the bumis or other ASx for the nons) or is it better to leave the EPF money alone?

Assuming that there are units available, is it possible to transfer units from one ASx to another using myASNB?

Oh wow, OTC now is charging a fee for transfers? If I recall correctly, I've done once before a few years back at the counter and there was no fees charged.

At the bank counter, I withdrew some units from one ASx and transferred that to another ASx account. There was a reason for me doing that transaction at that time and luckily there were units available so I was able to do the transfer.

My bumi neighbor told me over the weekend that she received a sum of money (abt 10k) and in interested to save them all up. She was wondering if she should park all under her ASB (which is yet to max out but amount is quite close to max) or perhaps top up to her ASW instead. I told her to just go for ASB. She said she contemplated between the 2 cos she occasionally withdrew from her ASB but with ASW she made it a point to not withdraw and using that as her "hidden" backup savings account; hence thinking maybe best to put her 10k in ASW instead. She was also contemplating FD so as to not park all in one basket but I told her better to put in ASx over FD.

What do you all think? ASB or ASW? Logically should be ASB since dividend is higher but given that she never disturbs her ASW, probably that might be a better option? Anyway her ASW balance, according to her is not a high sum as she is slowly building up that account. ASB2 is out of the question as it is being used by her sibling.

She cannot use her ASB2 because her sibling is using her account. Her sibling cannot open ASB/ASB2 under own name cos he is a bankrupt.

By hidden account, she meant pretending that the account doesn't exist so that she isn't tempted to withdraw $ from there. She will only pump in funds but not withdrawal.

ASB3 - any bumi also can invest? Works just like ASB and ASB2?

Thanks, another option for my neighbor to consider since her ASB2 account has been used by sibling.

I'm close to my neighbour, yes. We knew each other for over 10 years and know each other's problems. She is a bit blur when it comes to what's in the market, not that I am any better myself. She didn't even know about myASNB until I informed her but then again being bumi, she has no issue with getting units so she didn't have to worry about stuff like that. I don't know what are her balance in her accounts la...she doesn't mention actual figures, just general statements e.g. close to max. No harm in talking to each other asking for opinions.

I think ASNB counter at POS Malaysia closes at 4pm la, unless their rules have changed recently.

From my experience withdrawing at POS, they only allowed max 6k withdrawal.
