which tp link router you bought?
current router very shitty, i ask for replacement but unfortunately already out of warranty

The older modems like HG850a have 100mbps ethernet ports. The newer modems have gigabit ports.

Generally for upgrades to 30 or 50mbps, they won't change the modem. For 100mbps, they'll change it though there have been cases where they didn't.

Have just received my free upgrade from 30 to 50mbps... However i did notice on every speed test never once i see the result of 50mbps... the max roughly around 40mbps ++... is this normal?

Check pakai laptop. I checked mine using phone it states 42 only while laptop managed to get until 53.

Guys wta do your just leave your modem and router on 24/7, is this ok? Bcs mine is in basement.

There is - final cable in Highrise is copper rather than fibre like for landed

The modem picture you showed says VDSL2 on it - that's for copper not fibre

Anyway the silver modem is newer - I've had my black one for 5-6 years now.

Yeah landed will have incoming fibre. I'll update tomorrow once mine is upgraded - betweeen 9 and 12 in the morning apparently, hopefully no issues. Been waiting for ages, mostly looking forward to having a faster upload speed!

Mine is the same time too! Same in the morning session as well, will see how is the speed for tomorrow can't wait for the upgrade

Yeah it's about time. Been waiting for months

50mb is fast enough for most things, but the extra upload is always good.

FTTH should be able to support speed up to 1gbps.
Wonder if TM have that kind of infra to support.
