I've just got my 100 Mbps free upgrade today with an SMS informing me to reset the modem for 10 minutes and switch it backto complete the upgrade.
*
No need technician to come? I got a call today from TM about the free upgrade and they mention must get one technician to come over to the house to change the modem.

In Cheras area

I am also wondering about it but no, I don't receive any call or other SMSes except the SMS I've mentioned here.
*
That's odd, I'll ask the technician when he comes over then and see what's the difference.

Okay then, I'll see what's gonna happen when he comes over then. Most likely you guys have a newer version of modem since I've been using Unifi for quite sometime, my modem is kinda old in a sense too.

Can you tell the BTU modem number? Huawei brand?

Also had a call today about change from 50 to 100mb, they're coming on Thursday to change the modem

Afaik the Huawei modem I have can support 100mb but the uplink is only 100mb rather than gigabit so might have issues to support full speed.
*
This is the current modem I have, the router however died just a few days back, replaced it with a TP Link router instead.

Exactly the same model... Is it the model TM wants you to change with another one?
*
Apparently so, I heard from my other friends that the modem remains the same but only the router gets switched.

My router just koyak on last Saturday, bought a tp link router and the difference is so much in terms.of reception lol.

Don't think I'll bother with their current router

Ah you're on VDSL / highrise so have a different model anyway.

Let's see on Thursday. I don't care about the router as I'm using my own Ubiquiti setup anyway
*
Oh there's a difference? I found that picture on the net btw, but I'm on a landed property , not high rise.

There is - final cable in Highrise is copper rather than fibre like for landed

The modem picture you showed says VDSL2 on it - that's for copper not fibre

Anyway the silver modem is newer - I've had my black one for 5-6 years now.
*
Ah I see, thanks for the explanation, for mine however it takes the fibre and connects it to the modem so I guess it's a little bit different then

Yeah landed will have incoming fibre. I'll update tomorrow once mine is upgraded - betweeen 9 and 12 in the morning apparently, hopefully no issues. Been waiting for ages, mostly looking forward to having a faster upload speed!
*
Mine is the same time too! Same in the morning session as well, will see how is the speed for tomorrow can't wait for the upgrade
