My telco guy explained like this. Basically when you go there and connect, the foreign telco will just keep counting and close account when you come back. The moment you connect locally, you immediately kena bar.

U Mobile seems to inconsistent in billing. Many many many bugs.

Few years ago when I'm U-mo postpaid user, they charge me only $2.90 per month for $59 package for almost 1 year.

They later realized the mistakes and start charge me full bill. But I migrate to other telco already. I am laughed. doh.gif

I think he has a case. His credit limit is way lower. What this means is if he owed more than that, service should be denied. His ignorance is one thing, but unscrupulous practices should not be rewarded either.

rule of thumb . Go other country , buy their sim card is 100 times cheaper than using roaming.

I use their sim card call back to malaysia is wayyyyy cheaper than all this stupid fucuking telco here.

that RM300 is when he is on U.

Postpaid charging is not real-time. Even if you make local call beyond your credit limit, it won't get disconnected immediately. maybe barred only after few hours or a day later.

Roaming charging is also not real-time.

That's why the possibility of going above your credit limit is real.

yes see what happen to tm . 1 kroni terus control entire market for how long. Idea is good but it depends on who run the country. unifi price have never even go down 1 cent from steamyx rm88 switch to unifi become rm149 then now rm179 so as long as kroni control it goes 1 way up so unity in malaysia will only make it worse

use my referral code: ROAMGLOBAL and you'll be entitle to get 100MB free data, plus another 100MB when you register into flexiroamx

also, you get to unlock more data over time / share with friends and family

I am sure there is something that can be done to reduce his price to rm300. Although I'm sure the Rm300 limit does not apply to international roaming and there is a clause for that.

Umobile can send an email to the service provider in Dubai To negotiate a lower price.

Because I'm pretty sure that person will not pay rm42k.

Yes it is, just that someone is not aware of it

I find it very useful, especially when you travel to a more expensive country

Also, it doesn't affect your physical sim, you can just simply apply a transparent film and run the setting switch when you're locally there too
When you're back, all you need to do is to switch back locally

For e.g) a single european country, you can use any of their 3 vendor, switzerland per say
Orange / Swisscom / TDC Sunrise

Reference: http://web.flexiroamx.com/#coverage

Better than some of the local telco here which partner with only 1-2 abroad telco..

the guy being an idiot is one thing but the telco allowing it to rake up to such obscene amount is another thing.
telco should have cut him off once credit limit exceeded imho

in countries where consumer rights are stronger, cases like these are fought in court and the idiot still needs to pay for his mistake but not to such an obscene back breaking amount and the telcos are required to cut off service once past the limit

I checked U mobile website, for UAE it's RM49/MB. His RM42k bill would be about 800MB usage, you can easily use that much in 2-3 days.

For people who wants to be contacted while they're abroad, while still have some data usage to Waze, email, WhatsApp.

If you're more interested to YouTube and have heavy data usage, then getting a local SIM is preferable, especially nice when you have a dual SIM phone.

It is not important whether your credit limit is 1k or lower.
Once you lost your phone especially Kat oversea... Billing by foreign telco will take time to reach your own telco depending how fast you report it lost.

I know my mistake. But at least, those service provider should tell their user, the limit only applicable for the usage in Malaysia.

maxis is right legally. I think they are now facing the bad karma for their action to their former customers. May they sink and close shop (probably too much. lol)

I think many if us never read the document whenever we sign with postpaid plan with any telco... We.. Me also buta buta sign just to get the package or plan or both.

Blame it on Maxis.. Maybe..

Maybe should follow UMobile... International Roaming / International Internet... All disable by default .

But then still some joker complaint at lowyat about UMobile charging for 4K plus pay per use using Internet at Oversea claiming ignorance... As it is obviously he must have ask for data roaming activate earlier.
