yes, why not?
that is if you can find shops selling parts here or even the fact that the price will be prohibitively high plausible, but not practical |

I dont think you can.
Oh no wait! They use Intel nowadays, so maybe can. But I'm not sure if the motherboard is the same even if they use Intel. |

While current Intel Macs use Intel motherboards etc. they're not exactly the same as the typical ones you buy at LYP. The include among other things the EFI instead of the traditional BIOS and the Trusted Computing module.
But yah, check out the hackintosh thread. I've done it before, it works very well. |

But yah, check out the hackintosh thread. I've done it before, it works very well. Hackintosh require at least SSE2 processor to work |

Actually, even for the PPC its possible. There's a number of websites out there that talks about these ppc boards and cpus and so on. Possible to order those parts online too, and they'll tell u too which OS its able to boot and so forth. Cant remember the links now though.

QUOTE(youngkies @ Feb 25 2007, 12:38 AM) That's not true at this time. There are no retail copies of OSX that run on Intel, all of them are for PowerPC. That will most likely change in the next 3-6 months when Leopard comes out.So for now, the only way to use a hackintosh is download the image illegally |

That will most likely change in the next 3-6 months when Leopard comes out. yup there is no retail version of OSX tat run natively on PC. but u can always purchase a copy (in order to support apple/genuine etc and due to *ahem* is not allowed in LYN) and patch it up later with the developed kernel etc.So for now, the only way to use a hackintosh is download the image illegally @macball all you need is http://www.osx86project.org/ there is more than enough guide in there... hackintosh does need a lot of reading/research/questioning etc etc to bring it to run happily in ur pc. in addition there is support chat room for it (find it under hackintosh thread i posted above) |

Actually if you do the math, it's actually CHEAPER to buy a whole Mac from Apple than if you were to price the components separately.
