Hopefully, just like BoTW which had the update post release, the game support Japanese dub with English subtitles

I would love to get the steelbook, but the other stuff not so much. RM599 for special edition is just way too much IMO. This looks like a really great game, I did play the first game. Did not finish it, but liked it very much. Luckily it doesn't have any ties to the previous games.

It has huge amount of content and areas to explore , if you do everything I assume it will rack up to 100 hours +

A few reviewers said they have beaten it in roughly 40 hours

I am barely 2 hours in the game , love it . But the performance is kind of wonky , especially on Docked mode blink.gif

The game still look mighty fine on your hand , unfortunately it is kind of choppy and blurry in the open world combat and hectic areas

Also the resolution on handheld mode tend to drop down to very low , at this time I can't determine the exact numbers it sure ain't 720p .
The docked mode seems better , on the other hand.

In general I love the settings a lot, traveling among the sea of clouds remind me of the good old Skies of Arcadia.
I suggest wait until they officially release the game , because the japanese voice over DLC isn't available until the actual release date

Kos-Mos returns to Xenoblade 2.

Already about 20 hours in XC2. Enjoying it very much so far. Image quality can be questionable at some times: on certain parts of Alrest it's beautiful, on the other parts, it's pretty bland. Frame drops and resolution dips most prominent during battle: I can induce framedrops by tagging an enemy and then run away, and resolution dip happens most assuredly during the Driver Combo sequence.

Got the EU copy of XC2, downloaded the JPN voice-over free download pack from the US eShop, works the same.

No idea if the same applies to its DLC. What I usually do is wait until I completed the game enough to decide if the experience is worth it to get a DLC. I was impressed enough with BOTW, to get its DLC (although I end up didn't playing it that much after that tongue.gif ). Will decide later once I finished XC2. Already 35 hours in and in chapter 4 of the game and it's been a blast, some sections are even better than BOTW, frankly speaking.

The combo system is pretty expansive. Blade combos, Driver combos, Affinity MAX combos, Joint finishers, Arts canceling, ........ and then there's the importance of positioning in the game while executing these Arts.

Even while I'm at chapter 4 already, the game still puts out tutorials when introducing new game mechanics. Without spoiling anything, one of the main characters in my party has yet to unlock the potential of its Blade, and from the setup screen alone it's intimidatingly complex.

I usually play my characters overpowered, (mostly by grinding their levels), but this time, I left it as it is by going through the main quest with a few side-trips for the side quests without leveling up. Reason being, I'd like to train myself with the timings of the combos, positioning, and Blade switching (already filled my Blade slots with the three Blades from the Core Crystals I wanted). The hit timings somehow reminded me of the time I played Vagrant Story on PS1, and those were fantastic good times.

Already streaming the game every night for 2 nights now, each playtime around 9-10 hours each. Even so, I've had up to 800+ views of people watching, even when they know it's spoiler-y, they cant help it but kept watching. tongue.gif

Random and time consuming. I think I made at least 60 common and 5 rares pull.
60 common got 5 rare blades
5 rares for 2 rare blades.

Finished. Clocked in around 147 hours. got Poppi's Third Form, without tickering with any of her internals. Only managed 18 unique Rare Blades, tired of the fucked up RNG rolls on the Core Crystals I got. Beaten the game with Rex/Tora/Nia in their purest ATK/TNK/HLR forms. Tied Mythra (not Pyra, coz I like my bitch bitchier instead of "pretend-cute" tongue.gif ), Wulfric and Nim (although on the final battle, only Mythra is worthwhile with enough damage inflicted on the "final boss") to Rex, and Dromarch/Dahlia (big boobs Dolly Parton bunneh), and Floren to Nia in non-blade form (would return back post-game to test out the Level IV Nia+Pyra/Mithra Blade Specials later).

No turning back now. Fail this and back to the title screen.
I failed three times before succeeding in fact. Serious Neon Genesis Evangelion vibes. Lots of WTFs but less brutal WTFs than what Evangelion does. The kind where you meet your Maker/God/Creator/Architect and question Him/It the biggest mindfucked question of all: "Why am I here, and where did I come from?" and He/It spews strings of jargon that half-make-sense and half-make-believe tongue.gif .

Post-game title screen. Elysium/Heaven isn't "that far off" after all. wink.gif

Had to spoiler everything, too many whiners complaining these days. Returning back to Alrest tonight to finish all Merc missions, side quests, unlocking affinity charts for Blades, and fighting those crazy high >Level100 enemies. I'm sure I missed a couple of unique enemies on some of the maps/Titans as well. And also leveling up to 5 star all the "lands".

Understanding the battle mechanics is important to take down high level bosses. Bosses like Thanatotitan Andraz and Tyrannotitan Kurodil in Temperantia (head here to level up super fast, all enemies here are tough as hell!) or the Gladiator Orion and Artifice Orion at the cliffs of Morytha. Or any of the unique monsters in every levels in the game (they have unique names, and re-fight-able after they're dead when you can resurrect them at their grave markers).

A lot of people only concentrate on Blade Combos Level III or IV, or Chain Attack Driver Combos. I see the most damaging combos come from arranging your party lineup with characters that can do Break-Topple-Launch-Smash sequences in a row, WHILE the enemies are weaken with elemental effects (Earth, Wind, Fire, Water, Ice, Thunder, Light, Dark). Lining up these elemental effects in sequence (top right list while in battle) also seals the enemies from doing things like toppling, blowdown, or launching you, as well as linking them up to produce element orbs that can burst to increase damage multipliers.

Damages like this:

I've only managed 4 elemental orb bursts in a row so far with damage totalling upwards of 2.5 million, need to tweak party lineup to include everyone that can chain-burst those orbs. Which in turn need to level them up in their Affinity Charts to do significant enough damage to inflict that kind of damage.

The battle sequence is like a puzzle game, with branching results. Just need to find the most efficient branch with the most damaging result. At level 79 at the moment, and I even avoid low level enemies because they can just be killed with a simple Anchor Shot and a Special, no fun in that. tongue.gif Combo-linkers is where the excitement is.

Just finished the game and spent like 6 hours reading stuff on the internet about the ending and connection to the first game.

Really love the game.. only left a few side quests. And 4 rare blades left to get. I guess the end game will just be completing the side quest, get all the blades and trust to max, max dev for each town, kill all the mini bosses.

Hoping the story expansion next year will extend the ending. That would be awesome. A long shot? Maybe, but if it's not related... Meh

I don't regret getting this game .
The game is good ( far from great ) but that's about it .

Xenoblade 1 is still my personal favorite among the blade series . And of course nothing ever came close to Gear and Saga 1

I was spoiled by all the God Tier jRPG like ToB , DQ11 and P5 last year sweat.gif

P/S : The only god tier aspect is definitely Mitsuda-san 's musics , no doubt about that

The best part about the game is getting emotionally connected with the characters even the bad guy character is pretty good. By far it has one of the best character development all rounder. All your companions and even rare blades has a story and you feel connected. Those heart to heart shorts are good and hilarious. Persona series doesn't even have those. Your persona companions lacks any sort of character development outside of the main characters, unlike Xenoblade 2 blades which has a dedicated side quest, heart to heart moments.

If you didn't finish the game yet and also finish the first Xenoblade, then can't say you fully experience the story, as it is pretty much connected, which kinda leads to the future of Xenoblade 3 tongue.gif

Also the Xeno series seems connected in a lot of ways. So many connections in each series it's really fun to have a convo and speculate together. Also come on la, each game is it's own game, pointless comparing something that are totally different. We can literally compare to no end.

Personally if you compare the first game and XC2, 2 did a lot of good things all around, and the only thing that is lacking is that epic ending from the first game. But for me 2 had a lot of good characters developments that if you just compare it to the first game.. you might find the 2nd one a lot better and more enjoyable. 1 lacks in any replayability as well, while the 2nd game you can still do a lot of stuff after finishing the game.

Now i just look forward for the expansion pass, totally gonna buy it as soon as the story expansion is released. Which is around Fall's I think. Hoping it gives a more conclusive and extended ending to the series but that's a bit of a long shot probably.

The Comparison between the h2h scenes from X2 and Persona is completely unfair in this case .

The persona series put the main focus on their main characters , the social links and even the side characters . And they are a lot more elaborated than the ones in Xenoblade 2 . I still don't think you should compare them , because there are more than hundreds of Persona in P5 and they already have a lot of characters which you can spend days hanging out with .

Well we can agree to disagree here , but I would much rather have a proper Xenogears 2 , instead of Xenoblade 3 . I personally appreciate the deep writing , conflicted opinions with engrossing storytelling from gears a lot more . That is not that say I didn't enjoy blade 2 , I did and I like how each individual blade has extra side quests that opens up to their own background story, again the quest writings are still shallow and frustrating though.

I do like the Blade system in X2 , particularly the designs but I can definitely tell XC2 is rushed and lacks polishing compare to blade 1, probably due to the relatively shorter development time and rushing to release before the holidays , they didn't even have a proper map system before patch 1.1.1

The massive grind for the rare blade - Gacha system ( without the microtransaction in this case ) also did not have any failsafe built into them , so you literally could spend up to 500 hours grinding the game and still won't get your last blade

P/S : The Link between X2 world and XBX is brilliant, Sea Cloud settings will always be my favorite jRPG settings. ( Remember Skies of Arcadia ? )

Yeah unfair really to compare one game to another. That's why I prefer not to compare things and take the game as is. At most just the prequel or their other games for comparison. I blame a bit on Zelda Botw, Monolith was doing those world for it on top of Xenoblade 2 game, and as far as I know they were also making 2 while making X. So most the what falls short is definitely the development cycle I guess.
I like all the games I play btw, and if you didn't know yet P5 is like GOTY for me hehe.

Regarding gatcha system, a bet a lot would be frustrated about that. But most japanese people are into that kind of game tho, myself included. They might add an easier way to get a guaranteed rare blade maybe in the next few updates, who knows. And rng is not so bad on my end always get the things I want at least. Last 4 blades for me and around 135 hours in. I'm trying to get kosmos lol, but to no avail everything else pretty good for me, most of the rare blades comes for commom cores rather than rare or legendary, which is pretty weird.

Not sure of Xenogear 2 will ever happen, but I think XC3 is more likely to happen. Will be cool of it happens haha. Or maybe a new IP would be nice as well.

Ah around this time i still can resonate with common cores to get rare blades laugh.gif
sometimes if rng is kind you might get it.. but damn i also kinda have like love hate relationship with rng.
Legendary cores have given me just one rare blade so far.... i have more luck on common and rare cores sweat.gif
Kos-mos doesn't exist for me sadly, I think it will be the last rare blade I get.

Also noticed you get Kasandra early, wish I knew about it sooner..... got her pretty late in the game.

Yeah field skill I also find it a bit of a problem. But got used to it at some point, after getting a lot of rare blades, not much of a hassle at least.

I don't wanna spoil myself and such, so never looked into any guides when it comes to this game. Kinda like the surprise of seeing the rare blades for the first time. But yeah adter a while found out you can obtain a blade from side quest and what not, so I looked into it after having just a few left to collect.

Suppose to be 5/5 stars if not for the map & other annoying issues, but still worth 4 stars. Seldom get any great story driven RPG nowadays, couldn't stop during the year end holiday season, end up didn't play splatoon & zelda at all.

Similar to the last 2 entries, still playing this game after completed the story mode. Looking forward to DLC content, hope the next update can fix some of the issue on map as promised though.

xb2 is rushed yes. xb2 is short dev time, idk ~2 years is short now i guess?
not sure what's next for xenoblade series. they already spread thin post xbx with ~1/2 helping botw & ~1/2 doing xb2 (just a guesstimate). considering they're most likely doing that medieval action game right now, any new xenoblade game (be it xb3 or xbx2) will probably take more time to exist since i doubt they can split into half like what they did with botw/xb2.

That is what makes the game bad actually. The voice acting in English are really bad. Homura is not as the gentle type with english voice. Tora is just one annoying noppon in english, while in Japanese he is really cute. Lots of really bad stuff, always feel sorry for those who play Japanese game with english dub. Doesn't convey a lot of things well, and pretty much doesn't give much feel sadly if it's the english voice, and doesn't potray the character that well either.

I have questioned some of the game designs , but the dev had much shorter time to create such a huge game , to the point I suspect they did not do a proper playtest for the game.

For example some of these tutorial and game system information had to be bought using game money , which is quite absurd . Imagine when You try to understand a certain aspect of the game system but you can't because you don't have enough money to buy the tutorial info.

Adding another layer of requirement of refining your Aux before you can equip it also completely remove the excitement of obtaining great item . You found an amazing AUX drop from a Unique Boss and can't wait to try it out after you felled the boss , but you can't because you don't have the necessary material.

The game already has enough stuff to grind for to begin with .

Money can so easily be obtained anyway. You can make millions by just salvaging for an hour or less, even better income when you get the golden one. Easiest part to earn money by just salvaging is also reachable as early as Gormott. Haven't seen anyone complaining about not having enough money in the game. Just need to spend a little time to salvage, and they teach you how to get salvage pretty early too.

Regarding Aux material, so far no issue to refine the aux i want, even the hard one's. As long you as always collect whenever you stumble at collection points. Make it a habit of collecting stuff even when you don't need to. Even if you don't have the materials still just a little exploring will do anyway. It's part of how the devs wants you to explore the world, and also utilizing the blades with botany, agriculture, and the others.

I'm thinking it might be explained in the dlc maybe. I really do hope so. Because it will definitely renew my interest to the game again.

Hi, can I ask what's the trick to QTE salvage? I'm at the tutorial (I think), and spent 1 out of three given cylinders, but I just can't get it right. Do we hit once we see the button, or do we wait for it to enter a particular zone, or hit as near to the wording?

I'm confused. Any advice is helpful.

okay, based on this picture, you have TWO "zones". One is outer ring zone, (that's transparent), and another is the "inner" ring zone (where it is darker).

Which zone to aim for? The outer (transparent)? or inner? (dark)

BTW, is it me or its odd that even IGN doesn't have all the quests covered in their walkthrough?

Hopefully you download the japanese voice, way way better with more feeling.

The game battle system is a bit different yeah, gotta get used to it, you'll love it in no time. Also make sure to always explore, collect materials, you'll need it a long the journey.

I'm going to hold on to some advice about going for gold cyclinders (avoid the basic and the silver ones).

But on collecting.. really jackpot stuff.

For some reason, some I can pick up no problem

Some others, I pick up and huge ass monsters come after my arse

I can't even predict.

Easiest to just salvage at gormott. Other places are irrelevant, because it's slow for other places, due to high leveled monsters. Pick the first spot you ever salvaged at, it's the easiest and fastest. Salvage at Gormott for like half and hour or around 1 hour you can get up to 1 million or more. I think in the game I only spent like 3 hours max in salvaging. Enough to last to finish all side quest, buy and spend on stuff for a certain blade and etc.

Always gold for the best items. Others are a waste of time.
If you haven't unlocked the gold one yet, you have to be up until Mor Dain to get it. So just progress the story. Money in general isn't as important unless you want to 100% the game ofc.

currently at chapter 5 and all i can say is that this game alone is worth getting the switch itself... loving the story so far and the soundtrack of this game OMG... currently 27 hours into the game and wondering whether should i just take it slower and grind for the quest, gold & rare blades or do those after i complete the main story... btw, is the expansion pass worth getting?

Looks like you're playing too fast tho. Would suggest collecting blades, making more money by salvaging and etc for now. Also finishing all the side quest. More side quest when you have more blades as well. Once you finish the story, you might not like to do the rest, so it's always best to do it now before finishing the main story.

Expansion pass for now doesn't get you much. I'm waiting till they release all the expansion this Fall and then i'll be buying it for more story.

80++ hours in, still at chapter 4, and can't beat that 50k tiger tiger, and still looking for rares, and now doing missions.

So much to do, so much to get

(btw, I wasted hours trying to get the premium cyclinders by sleeping long).

any help?

You really should. Some of the side quests (btw, they categorize it to story quests, blade quests, and regular quests), do affect how you look at the story. Its deep. Seriously. A lot of them (since i'm now at the beginning of chapter 5) have very miniscule EXP, but definitely worth it because its very engaging. Not going to spoil anything.

THe only thing I'm still fuming is the 50k tiger tiger, and its so difficult to farm rare cores.

Not to mention the item that transfers cores to other drivers (much needed as well)

To me yes. I need those Overdrive Protocols to reassign rare blades.
I'm 220+ hours into the game, Chapter 8, level 73+, all dev 5 stars, grinding most blades to affinity level 4 now. Still have not get all blades.

Another game worth getting for Switch is of course Zelda: BoTW

Same with me, I'm not good at this tiger tiger game, high score not even 10k. Don't bother premium cylinders. Just hoard gold coins and buy 99 gold cylinders. Remember to keep your cashflow 600k (495k for gold cylinders 5 star dev)

For some quests where you need premium, there are ways to get it. I think I accidentally game my premium to a kid in Mor Ardain, but somehow I managed to get another one for the Salvaging King quest.

Also Merc quests. Then there are also many hidden NPC Merc/driver quests. Just the main storyline alone is like 40% of the game only.

Overdrive protocol - I've used up all, there is a troublesome way to get more, but I purchased DLC pack and will carefully evaluate how to reassign.

My suggestion is just speed to halfway Chapter 8 to level up higher, then come back grind / farm, it is easier to move around the map without enemies attacking you most of the time.

ah, if level 8 is the answer, I guess that's the only way then. Gonna see if I can blaze it. But right now I want to do as many side missions first before moving on. They're a great source of EXP.

There is spoiler for Chapter 7 and mid-Chapter 8.

As you progress quickly until early Chapter 8, you'll earn quite a lot gold coins, XP, etc. and that helps a lot. There are even more XP & faster to gain with mulitple-Merc. It's much easier to do missions/quests and also higher skill/field levels. I've hang around Chapter 8 for around 80 hours until I've forgotten that two dudes (Malos and Jin).

Recent blade bonding did not get anything after spent 10 legendary, 60+ rare, 100+ common core crystals.

I was done around 120 hours. Still some side quest left, and like 4 rare blades I didn't get. Kosmos is non-existence, like what most said.. But there is always that lucky bastard who got her early lol.

I'm just planning to continue the game later when the expansion pass is out fully. Can't wait for more new blades in general, and hopefully some additional stuff for the story.. Hoping for after ending story and mission. Extended ending is always nice

The friggin' gacha system is just too fckin' bloody pissing me off.

70+ rare cores, only 1 rare blade.
99 common, and i'm not sure if i wanna open all.

There really is a need for a fail safe mechanism so that players can get a rare blade after a certain amount of fail. But yeah the gatcha system is what it is, to make you grind more and more.

I think i'm somewhat lucky considering I never actually farmed for the cores and just do main quest, side quest and a little bit of salvaging from time to time. Only left 4 rare blades that hasn't been resonated.

Also I have terrible luck with the legendary cores. I only manage to get one rare blade from it lol. As for rare cores it seems to give me a little also. But damn common cores, I have a lot of luck from those. Most of my rare blades comes from common cores.

I just leave the last 4 rare blade for next time, when I pick up the dlc, no rush as more blades will be added, I kinda know to get the last 4 it will be frustrating for sure lol

The really frustating part (i'm now still at chapter 5, about to leave for some place after meeting somebody very high up), (its generic, so not spoiler, I think?), and investing 60 over odd hours farming and whatnot, there doesn't seem to be a real mechanical rule.

E.G

Boosters are supposed to help you to get blades from a certain pool.
I'm going to have to use this pic (DO NOT CLICK IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE SPOILED) All discussion about the pool is marked in the spoiler.

seriously, the devs need to listen to players and stop making things DLC-based, especially now I've read up the furor with Xenoblade Chronicles X in Japan and English.

At this point I can safely say that boosters do not do a damn thing in the game, most of the blades I pull are from not using a single boosters at all. The times I actually use boosters, it would give me blades that are waaaay off the elements I actually want. bangwall.gif

Now I just sell the boosters off to shops to make space if and when I'm salvaging and turning them in the trade market thing.

Boosters seems to work for me from time to time, but most of the time doesn't. I only use boosters on rare or legendary. It's still RNG yes and I don't really follow what people say online. I just resonate whenever. For maximum placebo effect, resonate when you feel lucky. Also make sure to wear luck boost items before resonate for better luck as told by the in-game guide.

Last few sessions after I left like just 4 rare blades to resonate I tried like 3 sessions.. Around 50 cores per session, didn't get a single new blade, so yeah I just stopped then. I never really farmed for cores, but I was getting them while doing side quest and leveling up mostly or when I was salvaging.

My case at least doesn't sound as frustrating as you guys. Maybe just go finish the story first like I do, enjoy it. Then once done, only farm later. My game time was around 130 hours only. Saw some reached around 200 to 250 hours lol, they all must be farming core crystals as well.

Okay, I released a lot of cores, but kept those darkness ones, and opened 30 rare crystals.
On char 5

I ended up getting Dagas and one more, but both are fire.

Boost element my arse this game.
Curse you, devs.

Rare cores are easy, just follow main storyline until chapter 8 *spoiler alert*

then stop story line and start farming/grinding everything else. You can get Legendary Core from some level 60+ unique monsters easily. I always farm soul eater stanley.

LOL, I've burn 2x-3x your cores recently, did not get any rare, I'm still like 5-7 rares missing.
10+ legendaries, 100+ rare, 200+ commons, 150+ boosters

I'm done with maxing quite a few rares like Zenobia, Mythra (S7), Praxis, Aegeon, Roc, Godfrey, Agate, Ursula, Dagas, Boreas, Herald, Sheba (gold digger), and already open up level 5 affinity for like half of the rares.
Zenobia is fun, to search and fight the UM one by one.

Some really time grinding stuff are Ursula, Dagas, Vess, a few b!tch3s to prepare for the Girl Power Off brows.gif (i'm still looking for Vale), spent a lot of money (like 2M+ coins so far) but sell to earn a lot (like 5M+ so far)
The rest are just normal grinding, I'll be upgrading Kassandra, Perun, Theory, and a few more.

240+ hours into grinding ... 2M+ coins excluding 25 legendary and 99 gold cylinders.

That's a long, long grind. Excluding story mode, now got around 6 more "bad ass looking blades" to grab. Now time out, grind the trust and affinity quests dulu, since got a few edi. Should be good for lots of hours.

Yes, quite boring to grind affinity. Normally I sit in front TV and just spam A button for the pouch.

Last night maxed Wulfric, Dahlia and Vess. Checked: Perun, Electra, Brighid, Dromach, Sheba and Adenine already maxed as well. A few are near-maxed as well, except storyline need Chap 9-10 or left Trust grinding only. Working on Kassandra. Need further grind on some maxed affinity 4: Finch, Theory, Azami, Floren, Nia as blade, Pandoria. I'm bad at Tiger Tiger, hence won't be able to max Poppi
With all those Ultimate/Intermediate Weaponry, I upgrade the WP to level 4-5 for all my five drivers main blades.

What I'm missing: vmad.gif Kos-Mos, Vale, Perceval, Nim, Newt

Need to grind crystal cores as well. So far, I sold like 120 common cores as 99/99 full sometimes. You can make a lot of money by selling low level unrefined cores, I only keep highest level IV or V only. Also sell all lower level driver accessories. Don't sell those collection point items, you may need it somewhere. The bulk of my money comes from here, I estimate I sold >2M+ worth in total already.

Latest 259 hours into the game.

The main story line, required Merc missions, quests, etc. are just like 40-50% of the game only. I revised down from earlier 60-70%, as the game opens up.

Hmmm. I kept getting commons, never bothered to use them, nor sell them. I should do that LOL

There is a place in the story, that has two vendors selling the cheapest item per trust gained. As in 180g for an item that raises 18 trust. That is the cheapest I've seen, and nothing cheaper in terms of value.

So that does help.

I'd suggest making another user account and set it to US region or any other region like MEX and download from there.
Should be easy enough to make another account imo.

You should then be able to use the DLC on your MY user account.

There's no need to create another account. Just change your Nintendo region to any regions with eShop and download. After that you can either change back your region or remain as it is.

ranting.gif d@mn u ... laugh.gif congrats. I didn't grind cores recently, but 99% finish grind all current blades to max, including Nia as blade. Both Pyra & Mythra level S+ already. Mythra is really OP, if you stock her up with Critical hits.

Recently start using more Break-Topple-Launch-Smash and getting lots of drops. Spend 1M gold for a doubloon quest. Sold a lot of stuff and still have net 3M+ gold in hand. But I'm still not paying 100k to that rentarenta fellow vmad.gif

Over coming holidays, will swap luck items and core grind into Zeke. Sold another 100+ common cores cause always 99/99 full. Have 40+ rares and 10+ legendary in hand also.

Finish Chapter 10 with level 80+ drivers, it was an easy walk, perhaps I over leveled. Now level 91-92.

Really hope I can grind Kos-Mos as well.

FUUUU

btw, the flashback scenes.. .really reminds me of Xenogears. Like seriously, the flashback cinematics... Really Xenogears.

add on:

the english voice over. It was okay, but then I realized at the end of chapter 6, beginning of chapter 7, that's when I feel super infuriated at the voice acting.

and ...

hey, those who have played Xenogears (the incomplete edition, but then there was only 1 edition anyway)

...

Did you ever get any strong vibes about Xenogears, at all? (i've never played xenosaga, so i'll have to admit i'm in the dark about xenosaga, or kosmos).

Finally after grinding 15-20 hours of farming crystals:
- 100+ common
- 200+ rares
- 60 legendary
* excluding another few hundred cores I grind before CNY.

I got all the missing blades in following order: Nim, Newt, Vale, Perceval and Kos-Mos rclxms.gif The last two being the most difficult and longest to grind sweat.gif

My best chain attack while farming relentless ardun. After that switch to farm reeking douglas since this one drop mostly legendary and rare cores only, with smash combo.

Nice man. I'm still waiting for all the expansion to be out, before grinding again. Sounds about right, and not so long if you consider it. Pretty lucky to get all of it. Now to max affinity if you still playing lol

I've bought the expansion pass, mainly for the overdrive protocol. Overall, it's about 500-600 cores, as per most other forums estimates to grind for the last few blades.

Already max all affinity except Perceval and Kos-Mos. Will skip Poppi since I sucks at tiger tiger. These few days will grind this. Then may switch back to BoTW grind the expansion.

One tip for those farming rare blades, keep your common 4* star blades, then max affinity and release it to farm for overdrive protocols.

New quests are available in the latest patch for people who bought the DLC... can't wait for the new rare blades to get released in the coming months..

The next update for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is now available to download. If you have the game, version 1.3.1. is out now.

Today’s patch is highlighted by the addition of New Quests Pack 2. These quests can be taken on after completing the update:

– Nopon of Good Tastes (Talk to Bipopo near Galad Residential Zone in Gormott. Available after adding Poppi.)

– Cleared of All Charges (Talk to Strath in Fonsett, Leftheria. Requires Perun, Godfrey and Perceval.)

– Beneath the Aurora (Talk to Len at Rigitte Harbor in Leftheria. Available from Chapter 6.)

– Upgrades and Tinkering (Examine the table in Tora’s house. Requires Tora. Available from Chapter 8.)

– Most Awful News?! (Stay at the inn in Tantal. Requires Finch’s Birdbrain Lv.3 and Zeke. Available from Chapter 10.)

As for the full patch notes, Nintendo hasn’t published them quite yet. We’ll add them in here as soon as we have them.

I'm glad you love it as well. It's two different game, and I won't compare it with Zelda. I'm also still waiting for the story content to be up, then i'll buy the season pass and play it :3

ya... it is a biased opinion as i have always enjoyed games with good story focus and character building over gameplay or graphics...hopefully the new blades pack is good enough to tempt you to get the season pass tongue.gif

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 version 1.4.0 update launches April 27
- 2 new rare blades (For Expansion Pass users)
- On and after your second playthrough, Traveling Bards will be able to exchange EXP for Poppi Parts.
- New sorting option added to the menu.

Future updates stuff coming
"Starting in May, we plan to add new quests, as well as even more new Rare Blades, challenge battles, an “Extreme” difficulty mode, and more for users who purchased the Expansion Pass.

One particular Rare Blade was designed by a new illustrator and is played by a new voice actor, and will be an Expansion Pass complete original (actually, we just recorded the voice actor’s lines today). Please look forward to it!"

*
Actually there is a pity systems but only applicable for 4 blades if not mistaken. After that you are on your own again.

I can't believe they making a prequel story for the expansion pass, this is really a must have, to know what happened before the main story.

i hope this is at least the length of the 1st 3 chapter of XC2 but based on the trailer, i feel like it is gonna be quite long especially if there are side quests and blade quests to do... if so, $29.99 is actually quite worth it considering the amount of addtional story and blades we are getting...

i think the story dlc and challenge mode is already worth the price of DLC and not to mention we are gonna get at least 1 more new blade(s) update (if not more) before end of the year... XC2 DLC is really putting Zelda DLC to shame eventhough it only cost $10 extra... kinda regret buying the Zelda DLC...

Clocked in 20 hours thus far and I have to say that it is incredibly enjoyable. This is THE JRPG experience that I've been looking for all this while; it invokes very pleasant memories of certain PS2 JRPGs back in high school days. Have not played the first XC before therefore I did not have much expectations. Super love how the world is crafted, the lore, the interactions no matter how stereotypical they can be, the music, well basically just everything. Only complaint is probably the map function which I think can be improved to make navigation easier. Also, the graphics can be a bit poor sometimes but apparently it's a common issue? Have done some reading online but in my experience, the game looks better in handheld mode.

Since most of you guys have already played BOTW and XC2, would you recommend that I pick up BOTW too? I have not played any Zelda games before so would it be a good introductory?

As for the expansion pass, should I get it at this point in time or after I have finished the game? Does it come with any equipments/boosts that would help earlier parts of the story?

Handheld is definitely lower res with low textures, but it isn't bad once you get used to it.

I mostly just play docked because it looks nicer overall. If not i'd definitely go handheld if there isn't much downgrade.

Game is good if you're into jrpg. Story is good, character is great, soundtrack and the world is good as well. Advise to download the japanese voice over which is free, so you will play it as it is meant to be. If not you'll play the game with British voice actors which doesn't really go well, mood also not right. I tried both and compare for the first 3 hours.

You can play the game without playing the first one. But there is some relation to the first game, just a little but important. Won't tell in details because pretty much spoiler. You can just watch a summary video of the first game if you don't wanna play the first game, for some of the reference. It doesn't effect anything if you don't play the first, and you can just skip it if you want. Consider it a little bonus for those who played the first game, and nothing much is lost for those who doesn't.

There are some changes, like name of Homura/Pyra and a few other names. There is also some terms that is changed, not anything massive, but that's usually how localization is sadly. In Japanese dub there is like some religious words, in English they made it sounds non-religious and etc. The jokes are a bit different but sometimes almost the same. You'll notice if you watch too much anime I guess.

Im at chapter 4 right now, accidentally used two of my overdrive protocol without reading the guides first, thinking that they were common. Also used 59 common cores on Rex alone and got 5 rare blades on him. Should I restart the whole game?

How the heck did you guys clock in 300 hours for this game? I'm getting cold sweat listening to the amount of time needed to be spent. Most of you here must be completionists. Assuming that I would like to cover the main story first, how long would it take? Currently at chapter 7 (clocked in 30 hours++; I do side quests when I feel like I'm under leveled). Since someone mentioned clocking in 175 hours by chapter 7, I'm wondering whether I've missed anything major? shakehead.gif

All depends if you explore the world more, do all the side mission first or not. I finished around 125 hours the story. Then continued further in the game to max affinity, finish all the blade quest and get more blades.

you are not doing anything wrong as long as u are able to beat the bosses of each chapters... most of us here like to take our sweet time and grind for levels/cores/side quests thats why have more than 100 hours of play time... if use online guide and just play through the story while doing minimal side quests, i think you can easily finish the game within 40-50 hours

Killed the final boss at 140 hours. Was tempted to drag a little bit longer but I said screw it and went in. Over leveled and had Pyra/Mythra at S5.

Tempted to start NG+ but reading up so I don't screw it up. Damn this game is awesome.

I guess I'll only start it after collecting 99 Legendary cores. What else should I do? I have Ursula quest started but yet to be finished. :|

Though certain animation doesnt look good, but overall the story is very nice.

Battle system doesnt get bored but those trust level requirement just too high sometime tongue.gif

Only downside i dun like is the Navigation of Quest

I don't find any problems with animation. I think it is fine. And yes the story is really good, especially if you like the characters.

I like the battle system as well, altho it could be long sometimes, and yeah trust system is the grindy part sadly. Even more when it comes to affinity.

Yup the navigation a but lackluster. The only issue i have with the game, else it's great.

I have XB2 physical copy, and then i bought the expansion pass (I think the Torna is in the expansion pack as well).

I think Torna expac will be released right after Update 6.0.0, right?

Just clocked 100 hours biggrin.gif still in chapter 8 belum masuk lagi world tree too. I dun think you will miss anything out for physical copy. Plus digital release is in 2 days while physical copy 21st only boleh dapat. So yea!! for those who bought expansion pass smile.gif

THIS GAME IS JUST TOO FREAKING AMAZING!!!!! no spoilers but even the side quest/blade quest are done exceedingly well. The only down part of this game is the core grinding..... 3 more to go(KOSMOS, Dahlia and Floren)!!!!!!!!

Already 10+ hours in Torna, need to start fresh. Spent more than 1 hour to explore each new area. Still early in the game, but so far the battle tempo has been bad, either you die first or the enemy die before completing full combo. Perhaps will improve later in the game when getting more blades...

Torna is quite short, completed main story in 32 hours. Can be even faster without doing much side quests. They manage to sandwich quite a lot of them in this one.

The ending is still good even though you pretty much can guess what will happen after playing the main game. All in all, a nice game.

Man, long weekend but then i was occupied by housing matters.

So far only invested 4 hours into the game sad.gif

But this round battle system feels quite slow pace which probably still in early phase?
The recovery is hard or maybe too much Xeno 2 (Lvl 99 and continue grind) already , lol ..

clocked in at 23hrs to completion including most of the sidequest.

Pacing and battle system is much faster than main game. scenarios are presented in a more cinematic fashion although the overall scope is much smaller.

P/S: getting that Full Burst / Overkill on Malos at the end was all worth it smile.gif

Can't wait to get mine this Friday. Waiting for physical copy, since I didn't buy the season pass yet. Need to finish Dragon Quest 11 first tho, before playing Xenoblade again.. Lots to do in Xenoblade considering there is a lot of content I haven't played from the DLC, not even including the prequel story.

Looks like if you order from Impulse you can ask for refund even if the copy is opened. But they are asking us to wait until Maxsoft contact Nintendo regarding this case, after that if Maxsoft says no codes and etc, we can ask for full refund.

Unfortunately, I'm brought from somewhere else (gameon at starling mall). But I had message the seller and he replied to me that Maxsoft is currently rectifying the issue so yeah finger crossed.

If you have set country of your Nintendo acct as MY then the issue is not specific to this game.

You will see a msg like “eshop is not supported for your country” when you attempt to start eshop from the Home menu. This is bcos there is no eshop service for MY.

As for the games, they are not region locked. Anyhow DLCs and updates may be region specific for a game and I believe for XC2 it is. If you have a JP version of XC2 you’d have to get the DLC from JP eshop. Set your Nintendo country setting to JP.

for future if you switch the country setting pls take note of caveats like the point balance, etc. some ppl use a different acct for each region ...

I came here to scream about my agony after opening my Torna box because it didn't include the Expansion Pass. Seems like others didn't get it as well. AAAAAAaaaaarrghhhh!!!

Yeah all maxsoft distributed copy, don't have. Atm waiting for Maxsoft to contact Nintendo, then get the news from Impulse store. They said they will refund even when opened already if they can't get the season pass codes.

I just contacted Impulse about this too. Still waiting for their response on the matter. I know it isn't their fault since they're just retailer, they had no idea of knowing as well but man, this is such a dick move. I don't know who to blame, Nintendo or Maxsoft? Intentionally hiding the fact that certain region don't get the code, and then still advertise it as if they were included. I was planning on contacting Nintendo directly about it, but for now I'll wait for Impulse's response.

[Edit: So I got a response from Impulse, they will proceed with my refunding process even with opened copy. I'll see how it goes. This is truly sad.]

some noob question...

Will the expansion pass from US eshop works with SEA copy of XC2(english)?
Since the SEA torna physical copy doesn't have the DLC might as well get the digital version

It should work.

I mean, I bought a cartridge from a local distributor, bought the online DLC eshop, got Torna (its in the season pass).

So it should work.

Sorry for necro. Anyone bought and played the expansion pass? Are the new contents worth the USD 29.99? I've cleared both XC2 and Torna and am thinking of buying the expansion pass.

Its only worthwhile to get the expansion pass if you dont have torna as the expansion pass comes with torna and other add ons. If you have torna then I dont think its worth it to get expansion pass
