your video is not working.

i dont have the full range of mi smart devices but i do have a handful, wifi router with 4 antennas, mi cam, universal remote and mi band 2.

all the devices above runs on 1 app - mi home.
i kinda like all of ther smart devices. especially the router, can set disconnection time for each user and alert me whenever someone tries to connect.

I got mine about 1 year plus ago. That time was truly oweful. Thru more software updates, it has gotten a little better but still buggy. Setup r mostly in mandarin. The app has broken English n some parts not even bothered to be translated. N all things are controlled with the same app.

The camera for mine is ok. But still the resolution kindda bad, so don't expect much. Sometimes the app unable to connect remotely to the camera although u know it's on. Gotten much better on this part with update. Camera speaks mandarin only. Yes the camera can talk during setup. I know at least one of my friend that bought it can't use due to geolocation problem. Somehow his camera knows it's no longer in China. Refuse to work. He ask for refund.

The mi smart home however is more buggy then camera. The functionality of the mi home depend on the geolocation of the server u set in the app. To use all functions u must set to China server. This is a very much product meant to be used in China only. Anyway, each command I give will be sent back via internet back to China n back to ur mi smart home. No internet all don't work. Even if u in same LAN. The command given can be "stucked" n not sent. So sometimes when u ask on swtich. Nothing happens for few seconds n sometimes not at all. Then u feel sien n go into the app n give another command. On. Ngam it on. Then u wan go sleep. U give off command. It off. Then suddenly the on command that was stucked arrive n it on again. Dem. Then I have to ask it off again. So problem like this can happen. U know when u reach home. I really need it to on light but here I am in darkness coz my smart home is just dumb. Haihz. The devices like motion sensor has built in batteries. Not sure if can change. But like cannot. The button switch can change batteries. As the batteries weaken so does the wireless signal. So the sensor that once work 10 meter hidden somewhere won't work after a while coz it can't reach the signal. Small things like this kindda annoy me.

On and another thing. Sometimes the device just decide to crash. So in the app u will see it as Device offline. Obviously when things like gateway crash n function gone. U need to manually go to it n power off n on it again.

i using them for almost 2 years already.
All of them also china version.
item i using:
1. Yi IP Cam (more update, more buggy, maybe china version? always cannot connect)
2. Gateway (as gateway, need to off the sound, else each time press the switch, will have ding dong)
3. 5 x switch (button) (put a various places, door x2, bed side x2 and computer table x1)
4. Yi light (main light in the room, no issue)
5. Yi light (table lamp) (extra item, just look nice, need to use bluetooth to control)
6. 2 x Wifi switch (the adapter) (control all the light in my room)
7. 2 x zigbee switch (the adapter) (control all the fan in my room)
8. Infra red controller (no good to use, as got delay and aircon model fail to find inside. can be use on the tv but with the delay, no point)
9. Mi air filter
10. miband 2 (setup when i fall sleep, the yi table light will auto off.)
11. 3 x power extension
12. Mi Temperature sensor (just to check room temp and humidity, din setup for any other usage)
13. motion sensor (din use as never setup it)
14. door/windows sensor (used at door, see anyone open my door when i not at home or not)

all of the item used inside 1 room only. not the whole house.

now is getting better but the yi camera getting more worst.
Always cannot connect and view, need to restart the IP Cam.

gateway need to restart once every 2 months or more, as it stop working.

all other no issue, but sometimes will have delay respond but hardly happen.
The delay is about few sec to few mins. end up like got ghost, lol, the light auto on or off.

the main setup is, when i back home and enter room, 1 button, all on.
fan, light, air filter.
when leave the room, 1 button all off.

bedside switch, control fan and light,.

thanks for the sharing.
- for the Yi IP cam, i think i must get the international version to avoid these problems
- zigbee switch compatible with this xiaomi system?
- i am very interested to know the motion sensor work well or not. i wanted to use tat to trigger the light or alarm.
but base on what u said about the delay, my hope gone flat, ha!
- so the door sensor work well as can trigger the alarm? in time without delay? hahahaha
- yes! 1 of my requirements is to on/off all/some lights/fans with 1 button ;-) how about aircond?

thanks again

Actually all gateway connection is zigbee, so do not need to go server,
but those item that use wifi is the one that get delay.
so zigbee work much better and almost never fail before.

motion sensor i not sure, cause never take out from the box before.

i do not like to use the infrared controller for aircon, cause those ion setting will off when use it to on the aircon.
cause the model is not in the list, but this setup is more then 1 year ago.
so now got any updated list or not, not sure, as lazy to go setup it again, lol./.

door sensor got delay or not, not sure, cause i used it as log door open and close only.
should be no problem as it use zigbee connection.

This is a budget product from China, so expectation must set very low.
if u really serious about the security, need to look into those system that cost at least rm2k or above.

so far what i know is....
- usually connected with network cable, so no delay due to wifi
- camera is higher resolution and better viewing (day/night), some can remotely control the angle
- windows/doors sensors are weather proof
- some can remotely lock/unlock the door
- come with a touch screen control panel
- can put in SIM card, so will call or sms to u on alert, again no delay like via wifi
- can connect to TV to view in multiple cctv in 1 screen, like those u see in the security room

Yup, get international ones, a bit more expensive
The newer batch of 720p yi wifi cameras can't be used outside china that easily. You still can, but you'll need to open the camera and telnet/ssh something to be able to flash firmware.

The mjiia 360 camera got no region issue, so don't need to bother getting international version.
Yi home camera 2 1080p only at certain firmware version can be used outside china.

What i like about xiaomi camera:
1) Works well with streamyx shitty upload speed.
If you're outside home network, you can still get smooth streaming
2) alerts and sends these short 6 sec clip once motion detected

Door/window sensor works well for me, sometimes i had to just turn off the switch for the hub when I couldn't reach my phone. Especially when I went outside to get something from my car late at night and forgot to turn off alarm.

Motion sensor need to be placed at 45 degree angle and installed at around 6ft 7ft. Too high in the ceiling and probably can't detect movement..

Hi trying my luck necroposting here.

I have been using my Mi home smart devices for awhile and over years I have up to 35 devices now. However I notice they have not been very responsive lately, especially when giving orders to Xiao Ai. This is more apparent in the evening between 9pm to 2am. In the contrary, it is super responsive from 2am to 6/7am, it execute the orders as soon as you finish your sentence.

Are you guys experiencing the same and do you have a fix?

PS. My devices are on China server

hey guys, planning on fitting a house with xiaomi smart home devices; primarily some gateway hubs and door/window sensors to make a rudementary alarm system

but since unifi has recently been having connectivity issues, i was wondering if these devices can still function without internet connectivity? (operating strictly on LAN)

my most concerned use case is if i arm the alarm system using xiaomi home products, and the internet goes out; will i be able to disarm the alarm? and also, will the alarm trigger if there is no internet connection?

hope some of you guys can help me out, thanks!

Safer to buy those with GSM at least if you are away from home your HP will still be trigger. Basic telco plan is not expensive.

yeah, most likely will have to go with one of these
i have heard that most zigbee connected devices will still be functional even without internet connectivity, but its probably best to be on the safer side.

Can still work without internet once you set it up cause it’s using zigbee to communicate between sensors, switches and the hub. You only can’t use your phone to control or view any status.

"open door turn on all the lights" is easy.

but "Close door turn off lights but if someone in the room it stay open" i don't think so.... unless you are lucky to trigger the motion sensor while you closing the door.
The motion sensor has some delay time as well..

or you may set the automation of "Close door turn off lights" to disable once detected motion. But when you wanted to enable it is another setting.

yea exactly. i find that xiaomi cannot handle complex scenario. they can only handle very very simple ones.

there is also a delay between command. i think they purposely add this in to stop a flood of instruction to their servers. let say u set turn off light + delay timer, once triggered, the light turn off and if within let say 1 min u walk into the room, the sensor dont wan to trigger the turn on light because of this. it will wait until about a minute or so only excuting next instruction. so for 1 min u in the dark. only after tht 1 min u hav to redo the trigger to move then only it start execute again. they dont even put it in queue.

I think the easiest to overcome this is to turn on all lights with switch but I thought if it uses gateway there no delay since its handle in the gateway via Bluetooth only delay comes from phone command?

why include a delay timer to turn off light?

I think the easiest to overcome this is to turn on all lights with switch but I thought if it uses gateway there no delay since its handle in the gateway  via Bluetooth only delay comes from phone command?
*
previously i was using this "Mijia Mi Smart Home Gateway 3 Bluetooth Mesh Hub Zigbee 3.0" with mihome app
https://shopee.com.my/Mijia-Mi-Smart-Home-G...5082.3815507160
i had a switch to turn off all downstairs light & fan. It is noticeable that the switching off process was slow and did it one by one.

Recently i changed to this "New Aqara Gateway M2 Support Zigbee3.0" and using Aqara app (cause mihome don't support this).
https://shopee.com.my/product/72563668/7462016661
I bought at RM152 from the same seller, out of sudden increased to RM335 now..
The same turn off all downstairs light & fan button react fast and no delay.

No idea it's the app or the gateway issue. I am pretty sure my automation is "LAN" and not "cloud"

its using gateway + motion sensor. still have delay. my gateway is version 2

because i need a delay longer than 30 min. motion sensor detect no motion up to 30 min only. anything above that need to add delay. but the delay command once queue cannot be un-queue by sensor motion again. so sometimes when i still in the room, the light turn off anyway sweat.gif

All Tuya Zigbee gateways are universal no matter whom you buy from. My 50 units wired gateway should arrived by this week. I also have Tuya Alexa speakers with Zigbee gateway & IR but have some limitations because not by Amazon.

Tuya Zigbee Sensors need be careful if need Alexa/Google support. I have different batches from different suppliers all not up to my requirements. Already found one that can do 100% Alexa/Google integration but too busy to nego. His price rather high. I also found a universal Zigbee sensors that can support Tuya, Sonoff & Generic Zigbee meaning Smartthings, hubitat, ikea & philips support but price of cos very much higher. Tough decisions. hmm.gif

after installed my mi gateway v3 i finally realize so many confusing problem. My mi bulb cannot detect by the gateway but can all detect by yeelight app.

Door sensor cannot detect. My light strip is 1S cannot detect by app when i use singapore gateway. I use china gateway some stuff also cannot detect and its slow with delay. After press takes 3 to 10 seconds to trigger.

So anyone know what the best server that can use the cross breed sensors? or list what we can buy or is there any manual way we can install?

Nothing to do with the gateway. Only zigbee devices are connected to the gateway, like your door sensor
Bulbs, light strips are using wifi and connect to your router

oh your door sensor is Bluetooth .....
i think there is a problem with Bluetooth now....i read many having this problem
try to update to latest firmware. make sure the gateway and door sensor is nearby

i suggest to buy the zigbee door sensor - both Aqara and Mijia also can use

First of all is the gateway China version? Because I believe the new door sensor only supported under China server so far
If not mistaken it should be communicated through Bluetooth between the gateway and sensor, then gateway helps showing open/close records on apps even you're not around home

My question how do I know which will work with Singapore server. I notice I keep buying conflict with China and global server
