I would suggest applying Maybank MUVI instead of the generic VI. At least MUVI gives 5x for groceries.
*
Ok, the grocery I give it a win but the number of exclusions and benefits only for MU Fan, if I wanted similar benefits, I would probably go for AVI. Also x5 grocery and more and less exclusions. bruce.gif

Oh UOB definitely isn't the greatest card, however the Prvi Miles Elite is currently the greatest for overseas/foreign currency usage spending usage.
For local spending there is no greatest, UOB definitely isn't anywhere near the top for local spending. I'd rate MBB MUVI and Alliance VI higher based on general consumers usage.
MBB VI gives a more consistent and versatile point collection of RM3.50 = 1 mile than UOB which in most case is RM4.50 to 1 mile with Zenith. You may have a lot of big ticket items that you pay via FPX, but majority use their credit cards via physical swiping/online purchases through 3rd party credit card payment vendors.
*
QUOTE
AmBank VI - 2.50/miles (overseas)
MBB MUVI - 1.40/miles (overseas, grocery, MU win EPL match)
MBB 2 Plat - 2.80/miles (weekday)
MBB KF Plat - 2.50/miles
MBB KF Plat - 1.00/miles (SIA, Scoot, KrisShop)
MBB KF Plat - 2.00/miles (Online, overseas)
UOB VI - 1.80/miles (dining - min 1k/month)
UOB VI - 1.13/miles (overseas)
UOB PME - 0.90/miles (overseas)
UOB Lady - 1.50/miles (fashion - with limit)

RHB PVI - 1.00/miles (overseas)
RHB PVI - 2.67/miles (Hotel, Duty free, Dining, Online)
RHB VI - 2.00/miles (overseas)

Ultimately, for UOB, you need more than one card and pick the cards that match your spending habits to maximize point collection. If you are eligible apply for the Zenith/Metal card and keep it in the drawer. Use the points collected from other UOB cards (as highlighted in bold above) and redeem at points available to those premium cards. This I think is the strength of UOB cards and something MBB cards cannot do.

1. Annual Income: Business Card

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Yes

3. Card required for: Cash back for Local

4. Existing credit cards (if any): N/A

5. Interested in CC from: UOB Business Signature

6. Key monthly spendings:
- Insurance (RM1 mil+)

Anyone knows any other cards with a higher cash back rate? At the moment the UOB Business Signature looks like the highest at 0.75%, however the downside is that it is a charge card.
*
Key monthly spending - RM1 mil+ for insurance alone? Boi.. your tax planning is second to none.

I've explore Affin Duo but with your monthly spending that high, it begs the questions what card can give you that satisfaction?

1. filtering criteria
- credit card only.
- no capping on CB.
- CB higher than 0.75%.
- least amount of exclusions

2. Alliance Privilege Visa Signature Credit Card
- side perks are ignored, just on cashback only.

-No cap on CB except for additional CB.
- 5% cash back on all retail spend (online transaction, groceries, dinning, utilities and retail spending) + 3% Additional Cashback (spend at least RM 120K per annum AND average AUM of at least RM 300K)
- The Cashback on retail purchases except for Cash Advance, Balance Transfer, Fast Cash, Fees and Charges such as Finance Charges, Late Charges, Annual Fees imposed by the Bank, Reversed, Disputed Split and/or Void Transactions.

Additional Cashback (this is on top of the 5%)
Tier ---------Additional Cashback Rate------AUM------------------------Additional CB cap (1/1/24)
1------------0.5%-----------------------------> 300K-------------------- RM 800
2------------1.0%-----------------------------> 500K--------------------RM 1.6k
3------------2.0%-----------------------------> RM1mil-----------------RM 3.2K
4------------3.0%-----------------------------> RM 3mil----------------RM 4.8k

Downside - must be customer of Alliance Bank

3. OCBC MasterCard (Blue or Pink, you fancyla)

- No cap on CB.
- 1% rebate on online transaction and overseas spend. (online transaction means: auto debit, recurring payments, internet, instalment payment plans, mail and telephone orders.
- 0.1% on all other retail spend.
- Exclusions: easy payment plan, balance transfer, call for cash, power credit cash plus, outstanding balance, cash advance, finance charge, annual fee, late payment charge, reversal of transaction, disputed transaction, fraudulent transaction, card replacement fee, GST and other fees.

Oh my bad, it's supposed to be annually Rm1m+  sweat.gif

1) Isn't Affin Duo a personal card? And capped at RM50 monthly?

2) I'd have to give Alliance a pass since I'll have to be their premier wealth customer

3) Is this Titanium Mastercard? I see it at 0.70% cb promo only until 31 Dec 24 which will revert back to 0.55% after.
*
1) why would you want to consider CB with cap, when your insurance alone you spend RM 83K a month, assuming uncapped 1%, rebate is RM 830.

2) Not really, from the looks of it, just have to park RM 300K with them (put in FD) and spend RM 120K per annum. Alternatively, If you don't want to be a customer but you still want higher than Affin Duo CB, can consider Alliance Visa Signature.

Tier ----- Cash back ----- Range (spend)
1---------0.05% --------- 1-1,000
2---------0.5%-----------1,001-2,000
3---------5.0%----------- 2,0001 -3,000
4---------0.25%---------- More tha 3,000

3) Not Titanium. Just normal OCBC Blue / Pink (https://www.ocbc.com.my/personal-banking/Cards/blue-pink-mastercard.html)

1) Because the Duo card I see on Affin's site has a cap of RM50
https://www.affinalways.com/en/affin-duo

2) Alliance Visa Signature.

Tier ----- Cash back ----- Range (spend)
1---------0.05% --------- 1-1,000
2---------0.5%-----------1,001-2,000
3---------5.0%----------- 2,0001 -3,000
4---------0.25%---------- More tha 3,000

0.25% cb for above RM3k is too low though
3) Interestingly that card isn't listed in the OCBC credit card site when I was looking for it. Is it still available?
Also where did you read that online transaction means: auto debit, recurring payments, internet, instalment payment plans, mail and telephone orders?
In the description below it is retail spending with that definition.

https://www.ocbc.com.my/assets/pdf/Cards/FA...ard(Eng_BM).pdf
*
1) Your annual spend doesn't seem to match Affin Duo card. The cards I mentioned have not capping.

2) if i am not mistaken and if I read correctly, tiering is based on

T1 ---> 1,000 (assuming max spend range) x 0.05% = RM 0.50
T2 ----> 2,000 x 0.5% = RM 10
T3 -----> 3,000 x 5% = RM 150
T4 ------> assuming spend is RM 10,000 x 0.25% = RM 25

0.50+10+150+25 = 185.50 (still more than AffinDuo cap of RM 50?)

3) I think you are right, the stupid OCBC website did not update the product to OCBC Titanium.

Is it confirmed that if you own the UOB Zenith, the UniRM is shared across all cards and can be used with the rate that is the lowest?

Thanks!

Yes. Currently, I am using UOB World to collect and redeem using UOB Privi Elite for Enrich Miles.

At the time, when I took up the card, they had a promo for 3 years AF waiver but limited to 1 card and exclude Zenith and Visa Infinte

Oddly enough, the Cash back programme T&C is not as detailed and embedded in the product highlights sheet. (source: https://www.alliancebank.com.my/Alliance/me...heet-PDS-EN.pdf )

Item highlighted in BOLD are excluded (only wordings sighted) from Cash back.

) The Cashback Programme awards Cardholders with Cashback (“Cashback”) on retail purchases (except for Cash Advance, Balance Transfer, Fast Cash, Fees and Charges such as Finance Charges, Late Charges, Annual Fees imposed by the Bank, Reversed, Disputed Split and/or Void Transactions) that are posted in the Bank’s system at the rates and/or tiers determined by the Bank.

Presumably, what you have mentioned is subject to cash back. do check with the bank.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: No

3. Card required for:  Overseas Transactions, Lounge Access , AirMiles,

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank2 Platinum, UOB One.

5. Interested in CC from:

6. Others: Going to overseas for about a year. Thus will be using CC for daily expenses eg groceries, dining. Might be using the Wise debit card as well. Lounge access will be good as well as might be travelling  3-4x in a year.
*
Couple of questions to consider:
1. For AirMiles, which do you prefer to collect:
Enirch, AirMiles or KrisFlyer?

2. Lounge Access:
I am not touching on the number of times that you can enter into a lounge but rather the coverage. Do you have certain countries that you fly to regularly, do you mind if the lounge coverage is ASIA only or do you prefer worldwide availability because you are a heavy traveler and you don't know where your next destination might be?

3. 1% mark up on overseas spend
Most card have this but certain premium cards waive this.

Example: CIMB Travel World Elite Credit Card does not have additional mark up on foreign spend. (min income 250K)

thank you.

while in malaysia, will mostly fly using MAS so i guess enrich points better. flying to taiwan and us for this 1 year period. so i think the uob lounge access have more options.
*
Then you are in for some treat. I think for overseas spend, UOB Privi Miles Elite is still one of the best.

For overseas spend, you get x10 UNIRM and if you purchase airline ticket, you get x5 UNIRM. Lounge access is x8 per calendar year. Before you come back to Malaysia, be sure to make 3 retail spends (valid 30 days) keep the receipts and get a cab ride home (read T&C for details).

For lounge availability:
Taiwan: Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport - Plaza Premium at Zone A (T2), A1 (T2), C (T1) and D (T1) - international departures
Malaysia: both KLIA and KLIA 2 (check T&C for details)

Btw: not sure if its the same, aside from Plaza Premium, UOB has a dedicated private lounge in KLIA 1. Can give it a go. Haven't had a chance to fly international. doh.gif

Downsides?
According to latest UOB forum thread SST no longer waivable, not sure if its the same for annual fee (RM 600).
Miles conversion is 9K UNRIM to 1K = Airasia, Asia Miles, KrisFlyer and Enrich

If you can apply for the Zenith card, you can use the points collected for UOB Privi Miles Elite and convert using Zenith, which will be 6.4K UNRIM to 1K miles.

1. Annual Income: around 120k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: any

3. Card required for: going to spend around 100k on furniture, looking for best airmiles conversion for local retail spend with no cap

4. Existing credit cards (if any): hongleong infinite

5. Interested in CC from: any

6. Key spending: As above
Dear senpais please recommend some good card for airmiles
*Gxbank debit has 1%cash back uncapped
*
If you spend 100K on furniture, couple of things you need to bear in mind:

(a) will you be going for an easy payment scheme/ installment plan?
(b) prepaid credit card (i.e. you put money into your credit card in anticipation of a purchase because it exceed your credit limit)
© does payment involve JomPay?; or
(d) does payment involve FPX?

If your answer for (a), (b) , © or (d) are yes, very likely you will not receive any points for such arrangement. There are some cards that allow © or (d) but point collection maybe minimal i.e. RM 1 to 1 point. Check the fine print.

If you plan to buy furniture, assuming your credit limit is greater than RM 100K and you have informed your bank in advance, likely the transaction will go through and typically the local retail spend for point collection does not come with any capping.

Also, Airmiles you have to consider what type of airline you are collecting. Some credit cards like Hong Leong Visa Infinite is only tied to Enrich but other cards like CIMB World Travel Card has 11 airlines to pick from.

Looks like you have too many cards.

Couple of things you should consider:

1. are you going for rebate/CB or airmiles?

2. If Lounge Access is important to you, Alliance Visa Infinite should be sufficient BUT it only has x2 access per annum. However, if you are collecting for airmiles, do bear in mind, Alliance Visa Infinite only partners with Enrich.

3. If rebate/CB is important to you then, CB that you want to look out for:
(a) highest cap or no cap
(b) least amount of exclusions
© cover most items (example some card cover grocery, fuel, utilities etc... but some may have 2-3 categories.)
(d) your spending habit, do you spend like RM1K every month or RM 5K every month? Naturally, higher the amount, the CB may benefit you more subject to capping and exclusions of course.

Rebate/CB credit card you can consider:
(a) OCBC Titanium master card ( https://www.ocbc.com.my/personal-banking/ca...rd?qualtric=faq )

0.07% - online & ewallet upto RM 1K
7.0% - online & ewallet on subsequent spending above RM 1K-1.5K (capped at RM 20 per month)
0.55% - online & ewallet for subsequent spending above RM 1.5K
0.1% - all other retail spend.

Notable exclusions (no rebate/CB): Gov, Insurance, Jompay, FPX and Duitnow QR transactions.

No Annual Fee.

(b) HL Wise ( https://www.hlb.com.my/en/personal-banking/.../wise-card.html )

Annual Fee no longer waivable - RM 98 (P) / RM 48 (S)

Min spend RM 500
- 8% cb on weekends and 1% cb on weekdays (CB category - online merchant, grocery, petrol, dinning (capped at RM 15 per month for each category)

- 0.25% cb retail spend (no cap/unlimited)

Below RM 500 spend
- 0.25% cb for all retain transactions.- (capped at RM 1.25)

Notable exclusions (no rebate/CB): Gov, Jompay, FPX, QR pay

© Alliance Visa Signature (https://www.alliancebank.com.my/Personal/Cards/Credit-Cards/visa-signature-credit-card)

Annual Fee: RM 148 (1st year waive or spend RM 12K p.a. for waiver)

Tiered CB/Rebate is based on MONTHLY SPENDING RANGE
Tier 1 - 0.05% - RM 1- 1K
Tier 2 - 0.5% - RM 1,001 - 2K
Tier 3 - 5.0% - RM 2,001 to 3K
Tier 4 - 0.25% - more than 3K

(d) Affin Duo (https://www.affinalways.com/en/affin-duo )

Annual Fee: Waived for the first 3 years. Subsequent years will be waived automatically with minimum 12 swipes of retail transactions per annum

3% Cash Back* with AFFIN DUO Visa Cash Back:

i. e-Commerce/Online Transactions
ii. eWallet Reloads/Transactions
iii. Auto-Billing

Cash back is capped at up to RM50 per month with following Previous Balance in AFFIN DUO Visa Cash Back credit card statement:

i. Up to RM50 for card account with previous balance of RM3,000 and above

ii. Up to RM30 for card account with previous balance of below RM3,000

Note: Maximum cash back earned from e-Wallet transactions is at RM30 per month for the above two (2) conditions.
*Cash back is not applicable for government services transactions, charity related transactions, payment via JomPAY, online banking, FPX and Mail Order/Telephone Order (MOTO)

1. Annual Income: RM230k and above

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Either

3. Card required for: 1 card for Airmiles and Airport Lounges. 1 more card for cashback
Airport lounge worldwide - Changi, Shanghai Pudong, KLIA

4. Existing credit cards (if any): Maybank 2 Card AMEX Reserve & UOB World

5. Interested in CC from: Open to suggestions

6. Others: I have been looking for a card to replace the Maybank 2 Card since they devalued TreatsPoints. My spending habits mainly on food, shopping physical and online & hospital bills.
*
Maybank 2 Card AMEX is quite strict on the annual fee waiver. If you don't hit 80k p.a. spend, then there will be no annual fee waiver. That would mean splitting your spend between UOB and MBB. On the other hand, Maybank 2 Card's list of PPL is descent and I believe covers your requirement.

The UOB World card covers KLIA 2, which your Maybank 2 Card AMEX does not cover. Aside from that, the perks are basically selected departmental stores/hypermarkets and online ewallet providers. It's a meh card.

Both cards have more restrictions as to how points are collected (example, pump petrol, pay utilities, FPX/Jompay etc...) might not earn you any points.

In terms of airmiles:
MBB 2 Card AMEX 10K treatpoints to 1,000 Enrich/KrisFlyer/Asia Miles
UOB World 15K points to 1,000 Enrich/KrisFlyer/Asia Miles but 12K points to 1,000 Airasia points.

I would probably dump the UOB World (or keep?) for UOB Privi Elite Miles and UOB Zenith, reasons:
- UOB Privi Elite Miles has the least amount of restrictions (so basically for any purchase that you don't get a multiplier, you can use this card, example Petrol/Utilities), If you plan to buy airticket or have foreign spend, the multiplier is x5 and x10 respectively. Oddly enough covers KLIA 2 but doesn't have Changi, also the lounges access is a bit sporadic, cover patches of Asia.
- UOB Zenith, do note that the annual fee is RM 1000 p.a. (may be waivable but do check). The conditions are a bit odd and can be restrictive [Example: ((xii) special events/ categories (including funeral and crematoria services, clothing rental, photographic or video-graphic studios and florists), so if you intend to engage such services, you won't get points. PPL has reasonable coverage.
- read the fine print. The good thing is points collected using UOB Privi Elite Miles can be used for UOB Miles, vice versa.

UOB Priv Elite Miles - 9K to 1,000 Enrich/KrisFlyer/Asia Miles
UOB Zenith - 6.4K Enrich/KrisFlyer/Asia Miles

1. Annual Income: > RM400k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: preferably free or at least can waive by spending specific amount

3. Card required for: Overseas transaction

4. Existing credit cards (if any):
AmBank Priority Banking Visa Infinite - Lounge access, not use for anything else
Alliance Visa Infinite - Rewards points from Overseas transaction, a bit of online transactions
Alliance Visa Signature - cash back (spend RM3k per month)
RHB Shell Visa - cash back (spend RM2.5k per month)
Maybank Barcelona Visa - cash back (spend RM5k per month)

5. Interested in CC from: BSN Visa Cash Back - 1% cash back on overseas transactions no cap, is there better alternative?

6. Others:
I am happy with the 3 cash back cards that I have (Alliance Visa Signature, RHB Shell, Maybank Barcelona), I get full cash bank every month from them.

I travel overseas for work about 10 days per month. Airline tickets are paid  directly by company. Right now I spend > RM10k per month on hotels, foods, taxi etc overseas (claim back from company later), and I use Alliance Visa Infinite to collect points.

Please advise if it is still worthwhile to collect Rewards Points from overseas transactions?

The BSN 1% cash back catch my eyes. Is there better cash back cards for overseas transactions?

Thank you for your advice  thumbup.gif
*
Don't know much about cash back. The next question is what are you collecting the points for? Is it for flyer miles or redeem stuff?

For instance, for Alliance Visa Infinite, though the reward multiplier is high for overseas transactions, you can only redeem Enrich Miles.

For local spend

1. Amex Platinum Charge card RM1.40/EM
2. Alliance VI + Plat + Vcard RM1.88/EM
3. HLB VI RM3.50/EM
4. AmBank Enrich VI RM4/EM
5. MBB World MC RM4/EM
6. HSBC VS RM4.20/EM

For Foreign Spend

Attached Image

If you are gunning to get the most points for overseas transactions, then the best card would be UOB PME. Then again, recently, effective 23rd September 2024, the Air Miles conversion rate for both the UOB VI and UOB PRVI Miles Elite will be inflated to 12K UNIRM (Previously 9K)= 1K Air Miles/Enrich/AirAsia etc...

Ultimately, it boils down to what you want and your end goal.

Thank you so much for your reply  thumbup.gif

The fact is I never really have a 'goal' for collecting those points for overseas transactions.
All of my local spends are charged to cash back cards.
Now I have around 1m points with Alliance Visa Infinite and don't know what to do with it.
Never collect frequent flyer miles  sweat.gif as I don't travel as hobby / leisure.
And checking through Alliance rewards catalogue, don't see anything that I want.

That's why I was thinking should I change and charge overseas transactions to cash back cards rather than keep collecting reward points.
If rewards points is still more 'worthwhile' compared to cash back for overseas transactions, then I seriously need to think about how to spend those points  biggrin.gif
*
You need to go out and enjoy a bit more of life. Go sign up a frequent flyer program.

Conversion for alliance bank to Enrich is 15K points to 1K enrich

Assuming 1mil points to 66K enrich (my maths bad)

I think you need 55K enrich miles to fly from KL to Melbourne with business class one way.

Hello~ need your help for recommendation~  notworthy.gif

1. Annual Income: RM160k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferably

3. Card required for: Would need the card mostly for food/grocery/petrol/bills & flight ticket occasionally

4. Existing credit cards (if any): No

5. Interested in CC from: Open to suggestions

6. Others: Prefer to focus on one or a few cards. Any good visa infinite card intro?
Thank you  notworthy.gif
*
Out because you want VI with free annual fee: MBB Visa infinite, UOB Visa Infinite, Affin Invikta Visa Infinite.

1. Hong Leong Visa Infinite
Flier Miles Program: Enrich.
Conversion is RM 3.50 (local spend) RM 2.20 (foreign spend) to get 1 Enrich.
4x PPL access to Malaysia and Singapore Airports.
Exclusion: standard (meaning if you do Jompay/FPX, refund, disputed transactions, Balance transfer, quick cash etc..., this type of retail transaction will have no point)

2. AM Bank Visa Inifinite
Flier Miles Program: Enrich, Asia Miles, SIA, Airasia (10K, 12.5K, 12.5K, and 7K respectively)
Rewards: 1x local spend, 3x Overseas spend.
PPL: x6 (global)
Exclusion: No visibility, they seem to have hidden their T&C. The T&C that I found pertains to their cashback program.

3. RHB Premier Visa Infinite
Flier Miles Program: AirAsia, Enrich and SIA (conversion rate 6K, 10K and 14K to 1K corresponding flier miles)
Rewards: x8 oversea spend, x3 Local hotels, x3 Duty free, x3 Dining, x3 Online Spend, x3 Local retail spend.
PPL: min retail spend RM 100K a year - unlimited access or 12x (not very comprehensive, a lot of gaps, covers Malaysia, Singapore, HK, Taiwan, Indonesia (Jakarta and Bali), London, Philippines, Cambodia, China and Australia.)
Exclusion: minimal, only Jompay and FPX do not have reward or cashback points.

Conclusion:

RHB major flaw is the gap in its PPL but the number of times you can enter the lounge is insane especially if you spend more than 100K a year, followed by the conversion to flier miles (looks expensive). As a consolation the exclusions are few and there are multipliers to help accelerate point collection.

AM Bank on the other hand, the PPL has a wide selection of PPL but x6 access only. If you are moderate flier probably something to consider. Its flier miles is slightly cheaper than RHB but they multiplier is meh.

If I can choose one card, I will probably go for RHB but if I can do two, I would probably combo both RHB and Am Bank (keep in drawer until I travel).

1. Annual Income: >RM 200k

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferable.

3. Card required for: mainly for airmiles ,

4. Existing credit cards (if any):  MAYBANK 2 premier( annual spending exceed 80k) for waiver

5. Interested in CC from: open to any

6. Others: I am currently overseas with occasional overseas spending , will apply supplementary for my parents as well.
They mainly use for petrol, dining and occasional retail spending.

My goal is for airmiles but open to other cards for the best outcome . Gone are the good old days.

I know M2P miles has been devalued and redeeming points has been a blow to the nuts.

Thank you for the advise sifuuuss.

UOB Privi Miles Elite

Con:
Flyer Miles revision: inflated redemption rate from 9K to 12K.
PPL: very patchy coverage and only 8x access per annum (if you have supplemental card holders, you might burn through this)

Pro
Flyer Miles: Asia Miles, Enrich, Air Asia, SIA
Reward multiplier: x1 local spend but x10 foreign spend / 5x airline (If your spend is mainly foreign, this is probably the best card).
PPL: if you intend to issue supplemental, you parents can share your PPL access as well!
Exclusions: standard but there are some unique exclusions to note, if you are paying Alimony/child support to your former spouse, fine by court/authorities, payment to gov, financial srvices/gambling, charity bodies, you don't get any points. [ as a comparison, there are some cards exclude petrol]

Hi sifus,

Planning for a travel trip, looking for a credit card which can get high cashback / points for online booking (AirAsia, Agoda, Booking.com, Klook, etc)

Already have MBB Ikhwan AMEX, Affin DUO, and RHB Shell, any other cards good for online purchases?

Considering PBB Visa Signature, but don't quite like PBB because they seem to keep changing their cashback policy..

For Agoda, Booking.com and Klook (online travel portals), i think most credit card have some form of promotions with them but you really need to look into the fine print. For instance, they may say 18% cash back but in reality the cash back is to booking.com's ewallet (which is annoying), 20% discount on published price but capped at RM 80 per booking or campaign is dedicated to either VISA or Mastercard only.

Couple of questions to consider:
1. do you want cashback or points?

2.
(i) if you want cashback, are you currently fully utilizing your cashback? Like you manage to meet the spend limit and hit the monthly cap of RM 15 or 30?
- AMBank CashRebate Platinum Visa
up o 8% cashback for online, groceries and pharmacy subject to monthly spend. Other spend, you earn 0.1% with no cap.

- RHB Visa Signature
up to 6% cashback for online, entertainment and shopping but each category capped at RM 30. Other category cashback is fixed at 0.20% with no cap. Cashback rate differ depending on monthly spend. x6 complimentary lounge access

- HL Wise Card
up to 8% cashback (weekends only) and 1% (weekday) for online, groceries, petrol and dinning subject to RM 15 per category and min monthly spend of RM 500. Otherwise, 0.25% for other spend or if you do not achieve RM 500 min spend.

- Public Bank Visa Signature (hybrid between CashBack and Reward)
3% grocery, dinning and online transaction min RM 100 per transaction and capped at RM 30.
10x green points for every RM 1 spend on green category stuff
3x VIP points for RM 1 spend other overseas retail transactions
1x VIP points for RM 1 spend local.
2x complimentary PPL in Malaysia.

-MBB 2 Platinum 2 Card
AMEX - 5% on all weekend retail spending capped at RM 50, 5x TP on for every RM 1 spend on weekdays.

- MBB Barcelona
1% cashback for all purchases capped at RM 50.

- Alliance Bank Visa Signature
5% cashback on online shopping, groceries, dinning, petrol, utilities and all other retail spend. The cashback is unlimited but the 5% only applies when your spending range is between 2,001 - 3,000 after that, if you spend more than RM 3,000 is 0.25%.

Conclusion:
I would probably go for MBB Barcelona and Alliance Bank Visa Signature.

Do note MBB Barcelona, you don't get cash back for for government bodies, utilities and e-wallet reloads). So get all your RM 50 monthly cap after that use Alliance Bank Visa Signature for everything else.

Whereas Alliance Bank Visa Signature, is less restrictive (Cashback not given for Instalment Payment Plan, Flexi Payment Plan, Cash Advance, Balance Transfer, Fast Cash, Fees and Charges such as Finance Charges, Late Charges, Annual Fees imposed by the Bank, Reversed, Disputed Split and/or Void Transactions).

(ii) If you want points, what will you use the points for? (airline, redeemp stuff, set-off SST/Annual fee?)

3. if you like airlines, what is your preference, AirAsia, MAS, SIA etc...? Not the one that you hope to fly but rather your go to carrier.

Thanks for this! Super helpful! Will be considering MBB Barcelona for the 1% (especially now that GXBank has discontinued their 1% cashbback. Will also keep MBB Platinum 2 card in mind, will apply if there's more use case arises..

Thanks again all! notworthy.gif

On second thoughts... I did a deep dive into Cashback cards. If I can only pick 2 cashback cards, I would pick:

(a)Alliance Bank Visa Signature (1st choice hands down); and
(b)HL Essential (I never thought I would say this or even think that HL cards are worth considering).

Other cards worth mentioning (the middle pack):
(a) RHB Visa signature (but annual income though)
(b) Affin Duo + (but i think there are some conditions that make this card less appetizing)

the Co-Branded followers:
(a) RHB Shell Visa (worth mentioning that this card beats out most other cards despite being co-branded card, if you pump shell and do other stuff, you can poentially get upto RM 1.2L in CB per annum.
(b)AEON BIg Visa Gold (this card is a mediocre at best but becomes a hero, especially when you buy most of your grocery from AEON or BIG, aside from that it commands a respectable coverage of PPL lounge in Malaysia.

Rest are just... for memes. puke.gif
