QUOTE(blatant928 @ Sep 25 2017, 04:42 PM) 10k balance only required at the time of FD deposit. You can use the funds once the FD is done. Do you mean, upon complete opening the 4.15% FD,we can withdrawal ALL the 10k in CASA and still getting the 4.15% FD interest rate? Also, the 4.15% FD promo extended until end of Dec 2017 according to RHB staff in Mid Valley. |

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Oct 3 2017, 08:46 PM) In MBSB this morning, wanted to withdraw the FD. They only provide xfer to MBB only ! How do you negotiate? What is the trick? So I asked for cheque which is max 50k per cheque. So I said then give me cheque. Then they counterpropose if 4.3% will I stayput ? (yesterday nego 4.25% only but I asked for 4.3%). I said yes. After 5 minutes, said HQ agreed. Interest on maturity. Anyway that seems to be a good deal. |

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Nov 30 2017, 03:30 PM) In AmBank to place 12 mth 4.25% FD. Have been thinking of UOB 4.2% until this 4.25% comes up. AmBank beat UOB 12 mth FD. How much minimum to place in AmBank for 4.25%?Anyway have withdrawn my UOB 4.2% FD with interest calculated daily and went into investment product. |

QUOTE(Deal Hunter @ Sep 2 2019, 01:02 PM) That is one of the problems with discussing and posting FD promo info on this thread. Most depositors do not realize how the different levels of wealth is perceived, treated and how it eventually affects seemingly conflicting info or lack of privileged customer info. What should we do if we found our FD money missing from Bank?! My relative just told me his money had been withdrew but he didn't not perform any withdrawal. How and Who should we report this case to? BNM?It is not just simply a matter of unupdated bank staff (I feel there actually has been some improvement at the banks I go to- although some important details may not be up to grade A or missing) but what they imagine you are or should hear from them. I may have to be more careful and work/educate my visited banks on this to straighten out the mess in this area. |

QUOTE(Deal Hunter @ Nov 5 2019, 12:19 AM) Is it a eFD or OTC FD? It's otc fd..ya, will ask him to go to the bank to have it check properly, whether it had become unclaimed money. How can otc fd withdraw without thumb print. Anyways, thanks everyone for the helpful reply.Have he checked whether it was just auto renewed? Had he left it alone for too many years and end up in unclaimed money? Was it a joint FD? Does he have the FD cert or paper for placement? |

QUOTE(adele123 @ May 22 2020, 01:26 AM) The guarantee on the 3.9% is from GE. And despite what the flyer say about potential bonus after 2 years, probably the amount gonna be zero or very low. Thanks for your explaination. Previous rate was not attractive, but with the recent OPR change drastically, this becomes a better offer. I wonder will they change the GPR rate 3.9% from time to time upon signing up since it's tighted for 2 year ~ 5 years?Important note is no early withdrawal, you can lose part of the capital. I'm not sure how ocbc promotes it or sell it. They may have a way to ask you to pay one shot instead of 2 separate years. I am not familiar on mechanism but such plans are not out to con you. I bought etiqa last year pay 2 years kena tahan for 5 years. The issue for me is... i just have to make sure 5 years i cant touch the money. Else lose 10% of the money during the 1st 2 years. While i'm mildy surprise they (GE/ ocbc) did not withdraw despite the interest rate cut, this one is not a fishy plan. You can always ask them for the product disclosure sheet and sales illustration if you worry. Sales person got commission ba, but very low, 0.2%? I got the flyer before mco. But i dont have full details. Usual insurance caveat is dont surrender early. Full 2 years required for the money to be there. Better get info from ocbc. The annoying thing is they want you walk in to get more info. This is the usual tactic la. But the plan itself is legit la. Unless you dont trust GE. Edit: Let me caveat slightly, last year when GE did this, i was told only offer to bank customer, usually priority banking. So i never bothered to find out also i dont have 20k lying around. And i really not GE or OCBC staff just want to let everyone know, not all insurance savings plan is evil. Just need to understand. And yes such plans dont make much money for the insurance company. I share you the promo last year lo. 4.5% but last year when you hear 4.5% maybe not as wow la. |

QUOTE(GrumpyNooby @ May 22 2020, 04:13 PM) I never give my payslip to the banks for opening saving account especially for a merely BSA. Why previleged acc opening needed pay slip? What about those already filthy rich & doesn't work already? The most I give is employment letter or my company badge because of the conflict of the IC address and company area. Payslip is normally needed if you want to open privileged account like PSA and CitiPriority/CitiGold. |
