According to this list, MBSB is not a member of PIDM:

QUOTE(Deal Hunter @ Jan 22 2018, 02:16 AM) Autorenewal can be useful if you don´t know if you are overseas at time of maturity. And if you go to the bank at maturity date you always can re-nego the interest rate and just cancel the auto renew if you are not happy. |

QUOTE(??!! @ Jan 22 2018, 07:43 PM) As of now, MBSB is not a bank. However, was informed that they have acquired a very small bank and will be operating as one in next few months. FASTEST----cash OK, I thought they applied for banking licence long time already and got it last year. Without PIDM-Protection I would not do business with them, let´s be true, for a non-bank their FD rates were really low. But good for them, so they should have worked out a stable base in the last years. |

QUOTE(Joe Yuan @ Jan 25 2018, 07:59 PM) Finally, Bank Negara raised the overnight interest rate by 0.25%. (As I expected per my previous post) Yeah!!!!!!!!! Expect FD rate of 4.5%, 4.55% or even 4.6% to come back again!! Good luck. Ready to paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarty! OK, NOT ready, but the next FD matures end of March |

No idea about AUD, but for USD and EUR they will be so low (or zero), that the bank is too ashamed to pubish it

QUOTE(MeToo @ Feb 7 2018, 12:25 PM) For those who wanted to lock in FD for long period 1yr or above, maybe reconsider. I do not agree. Of cause, interest rates go up and down, that is true. But never ever shoot thru the roof in short term. In Malaysia the last famous big hike took place from 1987 to 1993, that is six years and not six months. Global market bubble every where, charts are all grossly overbought... US inflationary pressure, interest rate expected to increase 1998... 2008... 2018... If there is a global meltdown/correction, interest rate are likely to shoot thru the roof, in such a situation being locked down for 1~1.5 yrs FD is something we dont want to do.. See here: https://d3fy651gv2fhd3.cloudfront.net/chart...101&d2=20181231 And the interest rates in US and Eur-Zone move even much slower. |

Asked at CIMB today about preferred FD rates:
3month: 3,90 6month: 3,85 12month: 4,20 No hassle and no fresh funds, 12month@4,2 sounds OK for me. Only 4,5 up could motivate me to shift around. |

I never thought I will do business with Bank Islam (they deal with non-muslims,right?), but this offer is really nice. |
