I managed to get 4.38% without any issues though the teller asked me who I got the rate from. I was targeting for 4.4%.
If you open the FD on Monday, you should still be able to get 4.38%, so far usually for Ambank, whatever new rate declared will only take effect from Tuesday to the following week's Monday.

Am bank 4.4% for 12 month. Promo ends march

kind to share any brochure or website links to that promo?
*
Am rate is changing weekly. Received from RM on the 4'4%.

FD rate *12/3 til 31/3/18* fresh & existing
(min RM10K only) respectively
3mths - 4.10%
6mths - 4.20%

*Renewal FD/renewal with top up*
12mths - 4.40% (interest must credit into SA/CA)

*Fresh fund*
12mths - 4.35% (interest must credit into SA/CA)

Bbgoat was reporting 4.38% for fresh fund. If Am bank is targeting their customers who renew their FD, then 4.35% for fresh fund may be correct.
May be other members can confirm?

*

Today went to AmBank to place FD. Initially the ABM wanted to see if need to ask for HQ to get 4.4% 12 mth FD. I said save her the trouble as the amt is small, no need to trouble them. Haha !  biggrin.gif

So ended just get the 12 mth 4.38%. gsc, so confirmed that AmBank fresh fund 12 mth 4.38%, no need approval. Fresh fund can still get 4.4% but need to get HQ approval.

Few has discussed about the FD/UT bundle. I got 9.99% 3 mth FD that was bundled with UT from CB some time back. I think it is just a sweetener to buy UT. Over here we should just focus on pure FD.  thumbup.gif

Thanks for update bbgoat. 12 months at 4.38%. I think CIMB and Muamalat probably will provide promo as most FD depositors will have their FD mature in Apr and May.

So many into AmBank for the 4.4%. biggrin.gif  I am looking elsewhere now. Got to spread out. Going to see if UOB, RHB and Alliance can get between 4.3/4.38 and 4.4 next week.  thumbup.gif

Still waiting for banks to break the 12 mth 4.4%........................... hmm.gif

Received info from Am bank, 12 months FD may revise downwards to 4.3% next week.

On your Muamalat hamper question, I never receive any hamper from any bank. May be my amount is low. Last year invested into properties.

CIMB only give the public holidays interests provided you go back to the branch you placed the FD.

For other members knowledge

CIMB charges RM5.30 for rentas.

I transfered my money out around 2pm and the counter straight away using Rentas without asking my preference. Usually i get the money the same day using IBG. The staff said using Instant transfer will be slower.
I dont agree with her coz i have been using IBG or instant transfer and get the money in the same day.

Interesting question as the unexpected special public holidays for GE 14 plus weekend means banks closed from Wednesday 9 and re-open on Monday 14 for those states not following the Islamic weekend.

Please do tell us what actually happens at your CIMB branch when you redeem on Monday 14 May like how many extra days of interest and at what interest rate. Thanks.

Other forummers having FD maturing on 9, 10, 11 May - please update us on your experience, so that we will know what to expect in future. Thanks.
*
The branch I went to say I must go back to the branch i placed my FD if I want the interests to be credited back. Since the amount is small. I withdrew the FD amount without the public holidays, weekends interest

4.5% from Bank Muamalat was a lie.  "No such thing and who is saying that???!!!???", as quoted from the Head of Deposits when asked.

That Head of Deposits was visibly upset.  vmad.gif

As for the 4.2%, 4.35% from Bank Rakyat is confirmed correct.  Of course, subject to amount, the aforementioned rates can be negotiated.  rclxms.gif

Muamalat service is very poor. When I wanted to IBG out the money, the counter staff said the limit is only rm30k
IBG cost is RM 2.12.

I did the same.  thumbsup.gif
I withdrew from Bank Muamalat, paid RM 2.80 for a check, then placed 1 year FD at 4.4% rate in Am Bank this afternoon.
*
After IBG at Muamalat, I went over to Am bank to place the 4.4% FD. The staff said I need to open Am star ? Accounts.
I already have saving accounts, basic saving without fee, true saver, true??
I do not want to open another SA....I walked out....

May be tomorrow go to Bank Islam. Bank Islam needs SA. The yearly fee is Rm12.+

No, 100% not true, you do not need to open Am Star account.
You definitely can use your existing True saver account to credit monthly interest from FD.

The AM Bank staff tried to “cheat“ you to open Am Star account, that was very bad of him/her.. bruce.gif

I have Bank Islam's 2 years FD too.
No, Bank Islam basic saving account does not need to pay RM 12 annual fee, unless if you need the ATM card for internet banking.
If I remember correctly, the ATM card annual fee is RM 8.

My Bank Islam basic saving account calls "Akaun Simpanan Wadi'ah", minimum balance needs to keep RM 20, no annual fee.
When you open your Bank Islam saving account, you need to be very careful.

If your FD is joint name, and If you want to use internet banking, then the saving account cannot be joint name.
Because joint name saving account is not allowed to use (to link) in internet banking.

So, if your FD is joint name and if you want to use internet banking, then your "Akaun Simpanan Wadi'ah" saving account
has to be single name.

If you place Bank Islam today (24 May 2018), 2 years later, the maturity day is Sunday, so you need to ask Bank Islam will
they pay one day interest for Sunday or not?
https://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/?year=2020&country=69

If you place Am Bank today (24 May 2018), 1 year later, the maturity day is Friday, you will not lose interest.

Thanks for your valuable input.

I was thinking of either CIMB or Am bank. Went to CIMB since I have overlooked my FD matured on 1 June. Worst premium customer service. Waited for 1 hour 15 minutes and still not yet my turn. Have to leave the bank as I have other things to do.

CIMB came out with a competitive rate may be because seeing many current FD depositors withdrew money. I withdrew mine two weeks ago.
