What is the name of MBSB savings account that you opened?

Suppose that we cancel the MBSB debit card, one year later, to avoid paying the debit card annual fee. After the debit card cancellation, can we still use MBSB internet banking website as usual, such as to perform IBFT to other banks?

It is ok. Just share the information that you know, to the best of your knowledge. No worries.  smile.gif

Thank you very much for your answer, voonmingloo.  notworthy.gif

Name of the saving account is PrimeWin Saving.

If cancel the debit card, internet banking can't access as it is tied to debit card. For safety reason and security.

But for this rate, still the best for 6 months.

Just sharing as I encounter fastest FD withdrawal AND placing FD in different banks.

My FD in Bank Islam matured recently and so went to branch for withdrawal, took number (first queue as no customer) and next minute my turn, withdraw FD n deposit into saving account (Bank Islam S/A) took around another 10 minutes. Then start using mobile Bank Islam app to transfer to MBSB S/A. Later went straight to MBSB branch (10 km away) and also took the number first queue also to place the FD, all done less than 30 minutes in both places including travel time to MBSB.

FD certs issued on the Spot. No need to pay any bank charges at all except petrol fees.

That sounds like a very smooth sailing journey for you travelling between the two banks. Also because you are the early bird, based from your writings. You are lucky to have easily found parking at both bank branches. Not such an easy task looking for a parking spot right outside the bank branch for the majority of us in the klang valley, unless really really lucky.

Yeah, very good luck that day, reach B.Islam around 3.18pm and there was a parking ready nearby few lots of parking, then reach MBSB 10km away around 3.45pm and found parking right in front. Didn't want to be early bird as in Klang valley, normally early a lot people.

For Bank Islam, I did INSTANT transfer 100k using mobile app to MBSB SA on the same day and all done within 10 minutes. Maybe can be more than 100K too as I didn't try beyond that amount. Some bank limit 50K and some 30K. But Bank Islam setting saw if transfer to other bank own name account max 1 million.

HL newest eFD TIA-i promo is now the best offer at 4.25 % p0m6 from 8 January 2020 to 18 February 2020. Minimum placement only 2k. Maximum subscription per investor 5 million. No PIDM.
Once placed, I believe will still get the offered rate even if OPR goes down.

Anyway I do not think the Malaysian  OPR will go down despite all the rumours and experts as it hardly helps matters. Would an investor want to come to a country with lowering OPR. For me - definitely no way - it is just like betting on a decrease of profit due to lower exchange rate and lower rate of profits held in local banks for operations. But of course, some economists do not think like business people or investors as if other countries will go down too.

For this Tia product, read in the product disclosure sheet, the 4.25% is sample calculation based in the sheet, in No.4, possible future gain is 3.66% only for best market simulation. So this product is not guaranteed for 4.25% for 6 months, right?

Just my thots on the HLIB TIA.

Assume you invest RM20K for 6 months @ 4.25% per annum.

Alternatively, you can choose to deposit RM20K via eFD for 6 months @3.98% per annum.

Difference between investments/deposits is 4.25-3.98=0.27% over same period of 6 months.

So, difference in potential returns via TIA-i ASSUMING 4.25% is achieved is RM20K X 0.27%/2 = RM27.

For a RM200K investment, the difference is RM270. For a RM2.0M investment, the difference is RM2700.

With that, I am putting my money in eFD since it is guaranteed at 3.98% and by PIDM.  For me, the RM27 is not that great a difference to take a risk.

And I am depositing a lesser amount too.

The difference may be greater or lesser depending on your capital outlay.

Just my 2 sen worth.

It mentioned that earn POTENTIAL up to 4.25%. Not guaranteed.

Lately a lot of discussion on the TIA. Let me chip in on my experience today.

Went HL Bank, asked them about the TIA promotion, seems like their front desk all do not know what it is. Even the tellers need to ask their operation behind to know what it is.

Seems like you need to first apply it online to get the 4.28% indicative rate, in the end I gave up because online just doesn't let me do it. Don't know why.

So I went for their OTC 3.9% for 6 months. Cannot get the 3.98% online too. That one apparently you need to click on the promotion, then it will direct you to your bank to do the transfer. Not sure if people can just online place the FD from their CASA in HL. I was told cannot.

AMBank is 3.7%, RHB 3.83%. Seems like for the bigger banks, HL now is better abeit at 3.9% only. CIMB Preferred also 3.9%. All needs fresh fund.
*
For online FD to get the promotion 3.98%, fund must come from (FPX) another bank, not HLB bank, meaning fresh fund. Online can do it in home, no need go to HLB bank.

6 months ago got so high?

You can search in this thread as MBSB was highest that time. Not comparing to those BR 24m or more that can get better than this rate.

You get only effective 4.25%

You'd better call MBSB before your FD mature..if your branch is closed,
then you need to go to another branch to withdraw, but you have to get
confirmation first before you go
*
Yeah, thanks for your advice. Will try call them first and see whether they can process to bank into my sa and I will wire out to AMbank 3.5%. They will still need me to come at later date for verify and authorise by bio scan. See whether they can help.

My MBSB branch confirmed close for MCO period after checking the list. So nearest would be JLN Sultan Ismail Branch. Don't think I want to go there later. Better stay home first.

Stupid MBSB prime FD when mature and it will auto deposit into MBSB CASA, max daily transfer out is 9K only. What if 6 digits, need so many days to transfer out?

I think they allow 1 month renewal at high end of 2% to ride over the MCO if don't want to go to branch.
*
Thank you for your information. Is it means further renew FD 1 month at 2% p.a.? Thanks in advance.

You go bank nego or over phone?
*
No need RM, just call your branch where you deposit to arrange it. You will need to write a simple email saying getting the 3.5% rate spoken with whom and authorise to debit from your saving to FD. Wait for another call and that's it. Ask them email you the cert.

Actually I wrote the email last week asking them to do my 1st matured FD few days ago and also request to do so another 1 today. So this morning just received the 2nd email with FD cert without doing it again.

But need to know in the first place when you placed FD, did you asked to deposit all principle and profits/interest back to your SA when matured?
It will be faster and easier for the staff to place new FD for you and no need to go bank. As all my FD i instruct them to do so as it will be easier and no need go bank to withdraw. Can do online.
