newbie here, let say i park X amt at FD for 6 months.. after the 6 months, the X amt + interest will be transferred back to normal account ?
*
usually, for the FD promotion type, you may need to visit to branch to withdraw the principle amount.

usually, yes, the interest is automatically credited into your saving account.

Just placed my fd at HLB but thinking whether should I withdraw my earlier placement with HLB (which one will mature on March and one is matured few months later with 4.0 interest rate). Any thoughts on this?
*
QUOTE(okuribito @ Feb 1 2018, 07:01 PM)
think about the interest you WON'T get if you withdraw before maturity. Then you will know what to do LOL
*
if holding Islamic FD HLB, as long as more than 3 months then the bank will calculate the interest but not sure the detail calculation.

Noob Question: If i wanna put my money into a new bank for FD purposes, what is the best quickest way to transfer my money from my old bank? Pls advise.
*
Banker Cheque is the best if you do not have bank account in new bank.

Applying banker cheque payable to yourself has to queue and wait and pay for the bank charges for each cheque.

For sure, this is considered a new fresh fund for any new bank.

More than 1m from FD interest?

Far far from that. No need worry then.
*
My mistake. The new act since year 2008 has stated an individual resident in Malaysia is exempted from income tax which is derived from deposit interest.

Income Tax Act 1967 PDF

INCOME TAX (EXEMPTION) (NO. 7)
ORDER 2008

Now that EPF declared 5.2 % for Simpanan Konvensional and 4.9 % for Simpanan Shariah, is there hope for FD promo rates to rise?
*
5.2 to advise contributors to avoid account 1 withdrawal.

Luckily he still possessed the FD cert. Imagine if the FD are without cert and bank argues that he transferred the $$ out himself.

This is scary as many banks nowadays do not issue FD cert

QUOTE(ronnie @ Oct 24 2021, 11:29 PM)
Definitely a loophole in that "international" bank that allows the Private Banker to "uplift FDs" without owner's knowledge.

As Fox Mulder says "Trust No One"
*
Meaning PIDM does not cover in this case then as it is "international" bank.

Even if it covers, the maximum only quater.

"The maximum limit of coverage is RM250,000 per depositor per member bank."
