what is the difference between fixed deposit and term deposit?
Does term deposit means indicative rate only and final rate may change?
*
Fixed is usually conventional (but those marked as -i is based on islamic principles)
Term usually is like fixed deposit but based on Islamic principals

End of the day, similar just one conventional and one is not

so like clawback?  blink.gif

Such clawback I would say is industry standard here. I'm aware Maybank have such function about half interest (which should translate to half clawback) if you give them 1 month notice though...

For monthly credited FD, early withdrawal will forfeit all previously credited interest?
EG: 1 year tenure but you terminate on 7th month.
*
Yes in most cases. Examples of cases where you get to keep some is Maybank With 31days’ Notice Period (not sure about other banks)

Perhaps a screenshot of the rejection message would help someone give better guidance/comments

Question on premature withdrawal of eFD

For Maybank:
I have 12-month FD from 1 June 2024 to 1 June 2025, and interest is credited monthly.
If I uplift on 1 Dec 2024, how much interest will Maybank claw back ?
*
All of it for immediate uplift

speaking from fact or hearsay ?

From MBB FAQ
*
See under
Immediate Fixed Deposit Premature Withdrawal (Without 31 days’ Notice Period)

https://www.maybank2u.com.my/maybank2u/mala...ed_deposit.page?

They will clawback 100% without notice, and 50% with 31 days notice from the principal.

What is the meaning of 3rd point >> Should there be an Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) change, the promotional rate will be revised accordingly.
Does it mean the rate is not fixed? It's not considered FD then...
*
That is normal wording. If you place it before the OPR change, you won't be affected. But if there is an OPR change, they can modify this promo to a lower %, but will only be in effect for new placements.

I have been unable to access CIMB clicks for a long time. Is it just me?
I was able to access it with browser's mobile agent previously, but today this trick does not work anymore.

saw news next wks got urgent BNM meeting on OPR?

Really? From where? 6th Nov is the next meeting based on the schedule. No need to have 'urgent' meeting when there already is one scheduled beforehand
