Brader , now is even more dangerous , if i dunno IBG , i hav to stand at the atm for 15mins just to press my cash , if the guard not around and some rempit bang in GGWP my $$$.
Why ??? I cannot take out the cash means theorethically the money isn't with me physically ??? Right ???
Yup, 100% agree with you , now i having 2nd thoughts about banking with UOB , even with their so high lucky prosperity 3.88% promo till this 31sst.
*
if you dont want to be convinced nobody can. its a few months to 2020. if ibg and rentas is not good enough for people, i don't know what to say anymore. last resort since you so paranoid, go write a cheque to yourself. no current account then ask for bankers cheque.

Am i a bad customer if i dun buy bonds from my RM?

My ocbc RM has been cold to me, ignoring my whatsap bcoz i just keep FD and not buying bonds from her?

Can i complain to BNM for this unprofessional ethic?
*
Bnm cannot la, but just call into your premier line and request a new RM (pseudo-complain) , no need to mention didn't buy bond or product, just say, she did not do her job: she did not answer my questions in a timely manner. Had same experience with mbb rm who ignored me for days and replied non helpful one word answers when I pressed. no need to feel bad. if they are bad at their jobs, they should be changed.

Hi guy,

Is it a smart investment to place a foreign FD with Bank of China for RMB?

Minimum amount is RMB5,000 (RM2,961) for 1 month tenure and RMB 1000 (RM592) for more than 2 months tenure.

6 months - 8 months (2.30% pa)
9 months - 11 months (2.55% pa)
12 months (2.85% p.a)

Have you checked that is really the exchange rate they are giving you? What is the spread when you convert back to Rm? Or do you have plans to use Rmb in future and thus locking in first?

might as well keep our money under the pillows, just saying..

Maintaining foreign currency accounts is a good diversification, just saying. Just have to find a time to go to that country to open the account, and find a convenient method to get the money across, with a good exchange rate.

In Malaysia, there are two types of Fixed Deposits, namely FD's (in Ringgit terms) and Foreign Currency Fixed Deposits (FCFDs).

The forummers above are discussing on FCFDs and their rates INSIDE MALAYSIA. They have foreign currency holdings, and Msian banks today offer accounts in foreign currencies too, unlike 20 years ago when we need to open an account in Australia just so that we can put our Aussie Dollars in a Fixed Deposit.

And,... I'd like to point out too,.. the USD Foreign Currency Fixed Deposit interest rates offered by Msian banks are better than what they offer in SG.

The forummers are not discussing on Fixed Deposits or Term Deposits being offered outside of Malaysia.

Hence,... with respect, I believe the discussion points are relevant and are in accordance with the strict definition of this thread title.

I went Johor branch at Molek. Yes no CASA all into FD. BTW one hour plus is opening account, doesn't include waiting time for your turn. If your documents not in full or money not able to explain clearly, I think will take more than 1 hour...
*
i think its normal when opening account with foreign bank with no history. had same experience of waiting time with scb, hsbc, citi, even if opening pb account

I managed to place 6 figure in one shot from Amb. They have separate limits for several fpxs like hlb efd and some intl schools.

Hello,
What percentage of your net worth are you guys currently holding in FDs?

Mine is currently 25% and I’m wondering if it’s too much.
*
Great opportunities possible for you for current market, I think?

Been accumulating cash for the last 20 months.. I'm about 30% props 30% equities/UTs 40% fd.

I tried AmBank online yesterday. First with 15k and was successful. Subsequently with another 13k but this round not able. I believe it is required to have balance of 10k in CASA.

Hi all, some question, izit worth investing in foreign currency fixed deposit (FC-FD) in Malaysia?
Currently, i see RM depreciate compare to usd and rmb.
If we invest in FC-FD, then can gain interest plus currency gain. Izit true?
*
in a way you're right but the banks normally give outrageous exchange rates and spreads that eat into profit alot.

YUP, that is why PH govt immediately goto Japan to raise money (bond with low interest) to pay off existing debts with high-interest commitment notworthy.gif .
*
Bond with low interest in yen, the traditional safe haven currency that appreciates at the smallest sign of trouble and yet is useless outside samurai land. There's a very good reason why everyone typically uses usd or home currency.

Can't really say banks FD promo are shit now as banks waived interest on hire purchase and mortgage loan for 6 months.
Meaning banks don't get interest from loan but still need to pay interest to FD.
*
banks only waived interest on hire purchase. not mortgage.
