QUOTE(guy3288 @ Apr 6 2022, 08:20 PM) you dont want to consider money market fund KDI? I am using it for now Checking out now on KDI. I also went in to structured product last week for 4.38% returns.while waiting for FD rate to go above 3% OPR looks likely to go up unless other events happened. So I am in for 3 months FD rate. QUOTE(cybpsych @ Apr 6 2022, 08:54 PM) The 3m rate I was quoted is for a larger fund. So always nego with MBSB if fund is large like 50k, 100k etc. cybpsych liked this post

Anyway not Klibor, PTPTN related one, CIMB issued. 5 yrs also. 4.38% paProfit 4.28% seems good, but 5 yr period if missed 1 yr become 3.4%, missed 2 yrs =2.6%. 3% daily interest feels better now, anytime can move out I may still go with MBSB 6 mth 2.45% eff rate. Looks decent. Also is a renewal one in MBSB, troublesome to move around. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 7 2022, 02:25 PM |

QUOTE(AndyMaurice @ Apr 11 2022, 12:12 PM) As mentioned in my earlier post the eff rate wll be lower than 3.5%. Eff rate will depends on which CASA account u put the 30% money. The 2.77% eff rate seems high, but for me, looking at possbility of OPR increase, I would avoid 1 year tenure for now. Anyway each of us has their own view points on tenure and rate. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 11 2022, 08:45 PM LoTek liked this post

QUOTE(joeblow @ Apr 12 2022, 07:11 PM) I am a long time citibank customer, tbh 3.5% sounds too good to be true. I managed to get 2.7% for 1 year fresh fund FD via approval, I thought that was the best rate in Feb 2022? Also a long time customer of CB. No FD there now, seldom place FD there unless bundled with UT. Seldom has pure FD promo there.Anyway the process of converting to UOB is lengthy, that said even if converted it should not have any changes to your current credit card or bank account. I suspect those existing products will be phased into UOB products and slowly transit from there. A few years process that should not have any inconvenience to the customer. That said don't bomb me if this is not the case. Still keep some asset there mainly in UT. The transition to UOB takes time. Just has to let it be ............ QUOTE(kochin @ Apr 12 2022, 09:34 PM) FD rates have been rather pathetic the last few years. Hoping for early May for OPR to go up. U mean coupon for retail bonds ?while still keeping fair sum for liquidity, have also largely diversify into coupon based on shares lately. just received promo blast from hlb 2.75% for 24months. anyone can point me in the right thread for coupon discussion thread. don't seem to find it anyway. thanks. FD for 24 mths seems long in view of potential OPR hikes. |

QUOTE(fabu8238 @ Apr 13 2022, 09:25 AM) Banks just want to lock in depositors for longer term but not giving higher rate until OPR is up.QUOTE(kochin @ Apr 13 2022, 03:00 PM) i am personally venturing into structured coupons based on shares. knock in knock out thingy. coupon % ranges 6-12%. Got u now. Received similar one from CIMB RM regularly. But never go in yet. Not sure where can find discussion on this. But risk is high (of owning the stock), knock in and knock out level (eg 60% to 102%).For me still stick with FD and some structured products that I can understand. BR FD promo, any info on latest one ?
Have FD maturing on Tuesday in BR, Wed will be BNM announcement on OPR. Dilemma, haha. Substantial amount. Pass 1 mth, putting mainly into HL TIAi 3 mths. May have to park some fund in AmBank AmStar for 1.25% while waiting for the OPR rate confirmation. |

QUOTE(dannyw @ May 6 2022, 01:35 PM) Really standby the bullet already. Even the OPR really increase, wonder take how long for bank FD rate to follow. QUOTE(akhito @ May 6 2022, 01:41 PM) QUOTE(oldkiasu @ May 6 2022, 04:07 PM) On Thursday 5 May, BR still at existing OTC promo rates till July 7 at 2.8% for 2 years and 2.6% for 1 year, minimum 10k. Bank always fast in raising loan rate but slower in revising FD rates, once OPR increases.BNM looks like huge supporter of cheap loans, so surprise if up the OPR. Likely it comes down to what the banks think they need to do themselves about the FD promo rates as against the FD board rates. So just hope for good news although feel quite pessismistic about whose interests override others at MOF or BNM. There are calls for BNM not to change OPR. For those debt free, hoping for OPR to go UP ! Lets see next week !! |

QUOTE(guy3288 @ May 9 2022, 12:06 AM) MY BR FD dilemma wont come so fast yet, another 1 yr+ thank god. My BR FD matured on Tues, just stayput, did not do anything. BR advantage is can even back date for FD matured within 5 or 7 days. Now maturing only the lowly HLB TIA 2.35% , next few months the HLB TIA so so only 2.58% maturing.. parking at 3% no problem. Trying to find out if they have good promo after the OPR increase. Previous BR contacts all either promoted or transferred ! Last few mths FD to 3 mth tenure paid off. Anyway still looking at FD or some structured products. Spread out the risks and gains. QUOTE(guy3288 @ May 10 2022, 09:59 PM) 300k ada but must consider the hassle. also not yet read T&C..If say that rate for 1year sure must go Pulled out from SCB priority banking after their FD promo ended few years back. 2 mths high FD return, not worth the effort esp only 50k can get that FD rate, the other 200k (250k for SCB priority banking) ?I calculated if going for this hassle can gain extra RM307 in 2 months compared to KDI extra RM307 not bad ,but would SCB be so generous throwing that at us without strings...... Esp as u said there are other TnC involved. This post has been edited by bbgoat: May 12 2022, 09:37 AM |

QUOTE(wayton @ May 12 2022, 10:05 AM) 10k at 2.3%, total interest over 9 months = 172.50 daily interest = 0.63 per day loss. If there is newer Fd rate at 2.55% for 9 months also, total interest = 191.25 191.25-172.50 = 18.75 difference vs daily loss of interest 0.63 if uplift prematurely. Also involved like time, efforts, travelling cost etc. The higher the amount, shorter the time difference between new and termination date, the better. |

Just noticed that Affin changed 3 mth FD to 1.55%, days ago it was 2.0%.
Interesting, discouraging people from placing short term FD (not to the benefits of depositor) ??? |
