Not much difference. The new SA 2.93% promo losing 2 days chq clearance time, the effective rate is around 2.90%. If you deposit by chq on Friday, then the effective rate is even lower at 2.86%.

QUOTE(mrhseinpingq @ Sep 20 2022, 07:35 PM) I am making FPX from RHB to Maybank for Fixed Deposit in Maybank. RHB fpx per transaction limit is 30k maximum. Maximum limit is subject to prescribed maximum amount/limit of transfer in the Customer’s individual internet banking maintained with the relevant bank, whichever is lower.it said: Your payment amount exceeded your Daily Limit of MYR 5,000.00. Please increase the limit to proceed. I had changed RHB transfer limit to RM20,000, still the same. Daily fund transfer combined limit is 50k regardless of type of transfer. Double check your limit again. |

QUOTE(joice11 @ Nov 1 2022, 10:34 PM) need advise from fd sifu, i place fd on 7/9 at public bank for 18 month @3.3%, now notice the fd rate keep increase espicially from bk islam @4.4% .So it is worth if i widthdrow from public bk, which i will loss almost 2 month interest and put in bk islam for the same tenure or should i put for short term (3 month@4% ) at muamalat since the rate is anticipate to increase further? Assuming you make the switch if FD today.A1. Still worth it, your effective rate would be 3.94% upon original pbb FD maturity date on 7 march 2024. A2. Put 3mths @4% now is recommended too in anticipation of higher FD rates next year. Your effective rate from 7sep2022 + 3 mths muamalat@4% would be 2.47% upon maturity on 3Feb2023. |

QUOTE(guy3288 @ Nov 8 2022, 06:01 PM) I did ask USJ branch what if I give banker's chq, got the answer Sama Juga macam personal chq. If want to join account with spouse, MUST show marriage cert. Some one reported here no option for either one to sign but in USJ branch there is such option. |

QUOTE(cucubud @ Nov 8 2022, 10:48 PM) USJ branch didn’t ask us for marriage cert for the join account. Damn! We hear a lot of reports of inconsistent policy between branches but now even within the same branch also having inconsistent policy. We presented a banker,s cheque when opening the FD account. Have to collect the FD cert few days later but the date was dated on deposit day. |

QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Nov 9 2022, 10:31 AM) Standard & Charted Bank 3 Months FD + Saving Combo Promo Very detail illustration for those who are confused with per annum interest. (% p.a.). (1) RM 200K at 4.88% for 3 months = RM 9760 interest for 12 months. ----> RM 9760 / 12 months x 3 months = RM 2440 interest for 3 months (2) RM 50K at 2.25% board rate for 3 months = RM 1125 interest for 12 months. ----> RM 1125 /12 months x 3 months = RM 281.25 interest for 3 months RM 2440 + RM 281.25 = RM 2721.25 total interest for 3 months. (RM 9760 + RM 1125) RM 10885 / RM 250000 = 4.354% effective rate based on per year You may also want to try out this simple quick formula which is less confusing for those who confused with % p.a. [4.88 × 200 / 250] + [2.25 × 50 / 250] = 4.354% In this formula, you skip the complex calculation of yearly interest, thus avoiding the confusion. QUOTE(Garysydney @ Nov 10 2022, 09:40 AM) My 78 y.o. sister passed away in April and i had a few joint fd (OTC) that i was safe-keeping for her in Pbb. Some had maturity dated 6 months with some 12 months away. Fearing any problems in future, i withdrew and had quite a lot of taken off the principal. The principal deduction most likely due to the recovery of advance FD interest (monthly/quarterly/halfyearly) credited to the savings account. LoTek liked this post

QUOTE(Garysydney @ Nov 10 2022, 04:02 PM) I withdrew a few of my 12m Pbb eFD this morning (put in 40 days ago) with 3.05% vs today's 3.75%. I assumed your new placement @ 3.75% is CIMB 6mths ? Then your effective rate is still slightly better @ 3.07%. upon maturity 6 mths later. Your extra gain will be the higher interest return next year from May to October as compare to your original PBB placement. No penalty so far. Doing more tomorrow. Cannot transfer more than 100k per day (2 accts) for me. |

QUOTE(cclim2011 @ Nov 11 2022, 03:27 PM) 😁 I think shouldn't be a problem. Errors can be corrected by the next person who update it.got think of it geh but this is my google spreadsheet... got other personal info together like my fd tracking hahaha i can create another spreadsheet... but if everyone able to write in might have higher chance for errors? Btw, can you add in 1 month as well? For those who want to temporary parking. Best 1 month so far is cimb 2.5% This post has been edited by aeiou228: Nov 11 2022, 03:47 PM |

QUOTE(SatayRojak21 @ Nov 25 2022, 11:09 AM) To all the Sifu, Your HLB 3.2% 6m FD mature on 10 Apr 2023 and the interest earned is RM1595.62.If I got 100k place at HLB on 10OCT at 3.2% for 06mts Should I withdrawal from HLB & place it in PBB at 4.5% 18mts? Thank in advance If you switch to PBB today @ 4.5% your accumulated interest earned on 10 April 2023 is RM1652.05. So it's RM55.43 more if you switch to PBB 18 mths. But if you think by April 2023, BNM will raise opr twice ( Jan and Mar ) for another 0.25% + 0.25% = 0.5%, then you might want to reconsider remain in HLB 6mths as compare to longer PBB 18mths. |
