Yes I totally agree with you on this. The keyword which needs to be emphasized is "Enforcement is very weak", which is also lacking. Hopefully more unscrupulous merchants get blacklisted from consumer complaints.
*
ya. we all go and report, and hopefully they will do something.

i think they (bank, BNM) will have their KPI on solving complains

Dear Mr. ,

Thank you for your e-mail to Citibank dated 18/Mar/2018.

With regard to your e-mail, we are sorry to hear about the inconvenience

you have experienced. However, we would suggest for you to liaise
directly with Subway for them to assist further.

We hope the above clarifies. Thank you for contacting us and have a nice

Second email to Citibank
Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your reply.

For your information, I have sent an email to Subway as well.
Nevertheless, I believe that Citibank Malaysia does play a role in
ensuring that merchant complies to all the rules and regulation.

In this case,  Citibank is the acquiring bank for Subway Faculty of
Dentistry, Universiti Malaya, I believe that Citibank plays a role to
ensure that the merchant complies to the term and condition of the
merchant agreement.

Please refer to:

df
--> Section 1.5.5.1  Prohibition of Minimum or Maximum Transaction
Amount

1. Payment Receipt (pay by cash).
2. Credit card terminal with CitiBank label

As the acquiring bank of  Subway Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti
Malaya, it is sad that you inform me that I have to liaise with Subway
directly.
Is it nothing that CitiBank can do about this? How about a letter to the
merchant or other action as deemed appropriate? Please do advise me that
if Citibank can do anything.

Looking forward to your reply.

Thank you and have a nice day.

email from the merchant is the best response. citibank initially refused to even forward the email.

however, i do think that with larger amount of complain to bank and BNM, they will pay more attention to this

did u mention paywave or samsung pay to the cashier?

usually i mention paywave only, before they can react i already put my phone on top of the terminal

QUOTE(David83 @ Apr 8 2018, 09:42 PM)
I experienced once at McD Ipoh.
The cash register has a card POS in front but they put a cardboard said "CASH" only.
Other cash registers should be fine I guess.

I already holding my phone. I used many times at mcd this the first time she say offline
*
haha.. hold one credit card in hand to show her, when she says ready then straight away put the phone... haha

i guess sometimes it is the individual staff problem..

i did ask few cashier at aeon/tesco regarding paywave/samsung pay, they all say paywave/samsung pay is better to them (even though the purchase amount is small) because they no need to count the notes and coins, therefore less errors and save time

what if she say samsung pay not supported insist your card
*
actually what i meant is to pretend to use physical card to paywave by holding the card in hand (while holding phone in another hand)

however,
despite all the maneuver i mentioned, and she is fast enough and able to catch me using samsung pay (instead of physical card), then bo bian, can't help, either pay cash/walk off.

(i tried before at sushi king, they were too slow to stop me, and then NFC payment via samsung pay already went through, so they ended up with sour face. haha)

sushi king in penang, put a small sign NO SAMSUNG Pay beside that device.
*
haha.. they have the right to refuse samsung pay.. the main reason is because they need to double swipe our credit card at their cashier machine, after we performed pin&pay or paywave.. (of course they can 'double swipe' by using MST of samsung pay, but i bet 99% of the cashier dunno that they can capture the card information to their POS/cashier machine by using MST, so they just refuse all samsung pay)

if this happen to me, i will video record them for double swipe and report to BNM...

*sorry guys if i talk too much today.. just to share some of my tricks to tackle the merchants' unwillingness to accept spay

thought that is illegal ??
*
it is illegal, but as far as i know, sushi king and kenny rogers are doing this... i dont really mind if they allow me the use spay, then capture my card info via MST (though this is not the correct way).. (in fact, i taught cashier at kenny roger aeon kinta city to do this -->NFC by spay, then MST to capture card info, and they got no issue with this)

but if they insist on not accepting spay, and when i use physical card and they double swipe, i will go and kacau them..

But it Seremban it is a different story.
I tried Samsung Pay at both Aeon Seremban 2 and Palm Mall and they have no problem with it.
I always say to pay with Paywave and they okay with it.
Only one tap and the receipt from both terminal and cashier print out.
No need to double swipe.
*
for double swipe, the examples that i meant were kenny roger and sushi king.

not aeon

Yep.
I meant Sushi King at both Palm Mall and Aeon Seremban 2.
Both using HLB terminal with SPay NFC supported.
No need to double swipe.
Sorry for not clearing the statement.
And since you also said Kenny Rogers, I also try at Kenny Rogers Aeon S2 with SPay NFC and successful.
No need for double swipe.
But the weird thing the 2nd time I try at Kenny Rogers and SPay make the RHB terminal crash.
So embarrassing on that part.
biggrin.gif

good to know that.. if they are not practising double swipe, then they will have no problem to accept samsung pay.. (previously the reason they refuse samsung pay is because they cant do double swipe with samsung pay).

i think you referring to the paperless RHB terminal right? sometimes it did crash even with normal paywave with physical card.. guess its rhb terminal problem..
