From what I heard/read, seems like they're closing and that's it. Now I just go to Gundamkitscollection.
*
Sad to see they are closing without any announcement sad.gif. Now only left gundamkitscollection for gunpla news.

I just want to remove nub marks and with proper grit there won't be any scratches if I buff it in the end. So I was wondering what grit is the best to start and finish.
*
Can follow what Bonchi mentioned but if you plan to apply matte top coat then sanding from 1000> 1500>2000 then apply top coat will do. To keep glossy look you need to rub with fine compound after sanding and for darker color parts might be bit difficult.

Hi, I am new to painting and would like to ask advise from all the sifu here.
I am planning to paint my MG inner frame with tamiya TS gun metal spray can. Could I apply Gundam Metallic Marker directly to the painted part for detailing? Or do I need to gloss coat it before doing that? I am planning to gloss coat it as final coat.
*
Directly apply metal spray then after dry spray gloss coat, although the better way would be spray primer > spray metal paint > gloss coat. Make sure don't over spray until thick layer paint for inner frame.

Ermm, actually I am asking could I

metal spray > marker touch up > gloss coat

OR

metal spray > gloss coat > marker touch up > gloss coat
*
Oh I see, for this you need to check on paint type if it is lacquer, acrylic or enamel. Lacquer paint will dissolve same type and both acrylic or enamel with sequence of lacquer > enamel > acrylic. In your case maybe you could do,

metal spray (lacquer) > marker touch up (enamel) > gloss coat (acrylic or enamel)

With this when touching out detail with enamel paint the lacquer paint won't dissolve and plus point is you also able to wipe off the enamel paint using enamel thinner without screw up the base lacquer paint.

Oh, thanks a lot. Now you have clear my mind. I dont have enamel thinner but I have gundam marker eraser GM300. Does that works as well? I cant find online what type of thinner it used. Will it wipe off the base paint too?
*
GM300 is lacquer so yup it will wipe off the base paint.

Really interested with how the parts holding on with RG unicorn given it is also transformable. I see there are some 2 tone RG style color separation but it is no really much visible judging from picture which is also a nice touch.

I've just got to complain about Bandai waterslide decal. I find the durability is inferior to third party decal (particularly the brand with abbreviation of 'DL' whistling.gif). While Bandai decals are usually more precise in the printing department, third party decals can deal with harsher abuse.

On that note, is the official RG Unicorn decal already for sale? I can't continue the build without it.
*
Yes indeed bandai water decal is much more delicate and require careful handling during apply, soak in water too long or trying to re position will easily break it. Would recommend 3rd party like dalin which is good in term of both precise printing and durability.

Lol I never really give it much thought on the complexity. I just get what I want lol.
The next build in line is MG Build Strike and 1/100 Barbatos Lupus Rex.
*
I was once a beginner on air brush and my first kits to test on air brush is HG banshee norn...Was a big mistake as there are too many small parts and many stuff didn't done nicely due to lack of experiences in prepare the part surface, finding the right air pressure, thinner ratio, color mixing, air brush process flow, cleaning stuff and etc. Would suggest maybe start with 1/100 barbatos lupus rex. And like what advocado mention don't go for very cheap unknown china AB because you may have the spray gone haywire or get clogged frequently, personally i'm using iwata hp-cp for main AB and ustar AB (forgot model) to prime surfaces.

Yea that's the thing, Tamiya spray cans are synthetic lacquer and based on the information on Tamiya website it will not be affected by acrylic or enamel paints.
I think I must be doing something wrong.
Wah, I did a quick Google search on iwata hp-cp and wow..I really cannot afford that  cry.gif
*
It is fine you can start with U-Star S-130 which is all rounder AB with more acceptable price for beginner who want to try air brush. Try play on few kits between AB and spray cans then you will know which direction you're heading. biggrin.gif

Will be travelling to osaka next week. Thinking to hand carry a PG banshee back since cheaper to buy from japan but is it worth to get from japan? Concern will get tax when reach malaysia then end up more expensive then buying from local retail.

Anyone tried before? Please share. Thanks.
*
I had once bought cheap PG banshee from HK and carry back before by putting it inside my luggage and hand carry other stuff. Very tiring doing so to be honest. How much difference between Japan and local price that worth such trouble and risk?

Now when u guys were talking about getting taxed when bringing back kits from Japan. Now I'm a bit worried since I think somewhere in the future I might get something when I visit again..

So if I were to get like a few MG kits still in box and in a luggage will I risk getting taxed?
*
If custom decided to check you then they will give whatever reasons to tax you, usually no if you only carry one luggage and they won't trouble to catch small fish. MG kits still safer compare with PG kits.

Can fit into luggage? If can most of the times is fine.

I see. Then worst case scenario I'll flatten the box and stack the runners so I can fit everything in the luggage.
*
Haha I think way overkill for that...just bring less or hand carry cloth will do. I fit a pg banshee in my luggage and hand carry cloths during trip from HK to MY.
