Lol, don't be so harsh on 4121's user la, bro brows.gif

Anyway, i got my X-Fi XtremeMusic(SB0460) modded with 1 x LM4562 + 3 x 1000uF Pana FM power filtering capacitors, the SQ never let me down though rolleyes.gif

At first i soldered 2200uF 16v Pana FM cap as the main power filtering and my card wasn't detected, then i tried 2200uF 25v Pana FM, same thing happened...

After that i saw a post in Head-Fi forum saying that the power regulator on SB0460 doesn't allow low-ESR power cap to be used and cut off the circuit on the board, in the end i tried 1000uF then everything is perfect rclxms.gif

Power Filtering Cap
Jamicon 220uF/16v ---> Pana FM 1000uF/16v
Jamicon 100uF/16v ---> Pana FM 1000uF/16v X 2

Operational Amplifier
4556A ---> LM4562MA

Almost fainted when my SC wasn't detected after trying the 2200uF/16v & 2200uF/25v doh.gif doh.gif

My hands were numb after the mod since my soldering skill isn't that great tongue.gif
Will try to mod the decoupling caps after i got bored with the current sound quality brows.gif

1 x 1000uF is for replacing the main power filtering cap...
The other 2 is just replacing the smaller value power filtering cap i guess since there're 2 x 100uF/16v power cap on the card...
Not so sure if both of the 100uF/16v caps is the power cap or not, please enlighten me...

I will try to post some pic if im able to... My friend also got his SB Audigy2ZS modded with 1 x 2200uF/16v + 2 x 1000uF/16v (Pana FM) and also LM4562MA opamp...

Both of them between the port and XFi chip, 1 near the port and the other 1 near the chip while the main power cap on the other end of the chip...

I will try to get some pic ASAP biggrin.gif notworthy.gif

Got my caps from FARNELL, bank-in and then it was shipped.

QUOTE(Najmods @ Apr 25 2008, 05:05 PM)
UNDERGROUND, both of the two other is a good hit. The far left (cap labelled C46) is the opamp +5V supply, while the other one (C16) is one of the DAC power. If you want better sound, you can supply more voltage to opamp (since the spec say so), but that is advanced mods

You mean like replacing the 1000uF/16v to 1000uF/25v like that ?
If i change my main power filtering cap from 1000uF/16v to 25v, will the power regulator cut off the circuit like when i put 2200uF/16v on it ?

QUOTE(sucka3 @ Apr 25 2008, 05:09 PM)
issit that save to mod the soundcard ????..i mean noob like me can mod the soundcard by jus followin some guide?? icon_question.gif

Well, at first i thought it was so dangerous and i do everything with cautious, but when my SC was undetected when i soldered the incompatible power cap on it, i got fed up and soldered the other caps without much care and rough handling, but in the end it worked out tongue.gif

My PCB board is kinda hurt now since i'd soldered so many time to test out the compatible cap... (stock,1000uF,2200uF,16v,25v)

@ coolKWC
OPM - RM11.XX
Caps - RM7.XX

You got bored with your "previous" XFi ? Or maybe it's jinx ? tongue.gif

@ coolkwc
I ordered the opamp with my friend , that's why it's so cheap.

If the card is still in warranty period then no point modding it except the owner got a lot of bullet to spare in his wallet...

Other than that, why not ? brows.gif

Poison poison...

To be honest, i doesn't mod the OPAMP myself, i took it to a handphone repair shop to do it for me since i don't trust my skill and my tools sux...
The capacitor is a lot easier than i thought smile.gif

The setting depends on your speaker and your ears, you can't ask somebody to adjust the EQ for you without listening the speaker.

I not so sure if my settings are all correct, i tried 44.1kHz as the master sampling rate just now and i get EXCELLENT for the frequency response (+0.01, -0.07)
