From my observations, those who will have many wants are less happy than those with many needs.

You can tell that a person is wealthy when the person dressed very simple but neat with no visible labels. Only a poor person will show off their designer labels.

A wealthy person spends more on food than on electronics and fashion. Only a poor person would spend their food money on the latest gadgets and handbags.

There are tell tale signs when a person is financially secured - he/she still travels abroad even when the ringgit is tanking, he/she's wallet is stuff full of 100 ringgit notes and only pays with cash all the time.

Other telltale signs include a mid tier car but with an expensive old number plate (single or double digit) which shows that the person is from an old rich family.

Does not like to show off. Very low profile about his life or where he lives. Also will try to not show off his watch and downplays it when friends notice his expensive watch.

Poor people would buy a car on 7-10 year loan and would usually buy entry level cars from Mercedes, BMW. A-class and 1-series are cars of choice for posers.

Poor people also wear designer labels on the outside and make sure people notice their fake watch or entry level watch. Rich people will go for the mid tier pricing for any luxury watch brands they buy into. The expensive upper tier of a luxury brand is reserved for posers whom saved up for a decade or more to afford it but after that, cannot afford to service the watch as it costs 4-5 digits to repair it every 3-5 years.

Poor people drink at bars and clubs where overpriced drinks are being sold. Rich people drink at home in their mini bar away from the noise and bar plebeians.

Anything else that I missed out? Looking at my list, I think I am more poor than rich.

But it is true most of the time. Poor people needs to feel validated. Look at the rappers. They are not making much money but spends way beyond their means and later declare bankrupt (e.g. 50 cents, missy eliot etc).

A wealthy individual do not need to buy showy material things to show off their wealth. They know that buying expensive cars to drive around will make them a target for robbers.

I have seen rich friends who keep a low profile and try not to draw attention to themselves. It's the posers hanging out with the rich guys who would try too hard to fit in.

You would know the posers by them wearing sunglasses indoors or when cuaca mendung. They will also wear LV or Hermes belt with a big emblem of the fashion house on the buckle. Every piece of their clothes have the labels on the outside. They will either wear a fake watch or an entry level watch (ie the cheapest model from that watch brand).

Must have number plate and expensive watch meh?

I feel TS you still placing so many requirements on these rich people whereas they only play by their own rules.

The rich ppl I know sometimes you see them out in the hot sun, their clothes dirty and ripped, ppl mistake them for bangla worker. But they own that land, reached a level of success where dun give a fk whatsoever.

Then again I know other rich folk who drive Lamborghinis, wear Polo shirts and aviators.

Let people do what they want la. So judgemental for what? At least the materialists good for the economy.

Also, what's your definition of rich/poor? It's not black or white. Plus there's the question of whether rich means successful.

rich and successful people have got nothing else to prove
they can wear or eat anything they like
usually self made rich people, not rich because of fahder mahder, are very kedekut
so usually low profile but bank account got many millions

rich fahder mahder people tend to show off more often
