Stick with the 13' if you don't mind the looks. You get freaking good fuel consumption. Not to mention, changing tires won't cut throat.

If they are stolen, it is easier on the mind to know that you only have to replace 13 inchers. Also tyres for them are cheaper. The are lighter, like kwekeugene said, saves fuel.
For 14 inch with a matching lower profile tyre you get better handling but do you want to trash around a top heavy Kenari? rolleyes.gif

probably the reason why the previous owner changed to smaller rims was for the comfort smile.gif

smaller rims = thicker, higher profile tyres...
this helps to soak up the bumps on the road

now, if u dont mind a bumpier ride, more expensive tyres and easier to bend rims, u could try going back to 14" smile.gif
if i were you, i'd stick with the 13", hehe

bigger rims + thinner, lower profile tyres help with cornering.. but i doubt ur turning your kenari into a track car, rite? cheers biggrin.gif

the first gen kenari came with 13" rims wat. and ive seen a kenari aero the feller changed the 14" for 13" wira sport rims with dunno what size tyres... and that particular car looks damn good weiiii.....so different from the others.

anyway...pros n cons of 13" rims.

pros
-lighter (depending on what brand ur comparing it with)
-better pickup
-cheaper tyres
-better fuel consumption
-thicker tyre profile meaning the tyre will absorb more bumps from the road hence better comfort and itll help reduce impact to ur rims.

cons
-its small
-doesnt look as good as bigger rims.

my opinion. stick with the 13" if ur just gonna use the car for daily driving.

but if u wanna change rims for looks..15" will look waaaay better than 13" or 14". but u kinda have to sacrifice the things in the "pro" of the 13". best compromise would be 14" of course. but still sacrifice the "pro"...just not as much.

as for rim recommendations.. the best bang for buck would be taiwan made rims which are usually replicas of jap rims. 15" taiwan rims can be had for around 1k brand new without tyres. 14" taiwan rims oso have...but dunno the price. stay away from JRD and BSA if ur looking for rims. soft and heavy as hell.

where to get them?? dunno ur location how to tell u? but assuming ur in klang valey area... sunway and klang would be the best place.

madman sums it all

im still using 13" rims too for my daily ride canary - the condition of the road at my place, no point using low profile and low ride - i go for comfort.

if u want more info on Kenari rims etc. google for local clubs kenarianz or kkar - lotsa good infos there

I'm suspecting tat d previous owner had better bigger rims earlier n changed back to ori 13" when it was sold.

Anyway as said in the above, stick to 13" if u wan comfort. I s'times drive an Aero wit 14" lower profile donuts n find d ride a tad harsh.

phew, guess there's no harm in using 13". but about the cheaper tyres sweat.gif , not really. coz the last time i went to change my 2 back tyres, the mechanic told me not many brands r available for 13". it was either Simex(ngam ah?) or Yokohama. Yokohamas were RM170 a piece! sweat.gif i took Yokohama coz from what i heard Simex tyres r...not so good. OR DID I GET CONNED? no gua coz i asked at 2 diff tyre shops, both also told me the same thing.

Added on February 12, 2007, 10:58 ami'm now using JRD rims. again from what i heard, JRD rims has very debatable quality. it's getting really worn out too i.e some rust n there's like this skin peeling thing goin on on the surface(ape tu?)

so what rims brands can you sifus suggest to me? something mid ranged in terms of quality & pricing but looks not bad either. haha like asking for so much.

the 1st batch or kenari comes with 13 inch.....more comfortable with high profile tyres....

anyway, did you buy the car directly from the owner or from used car shop.....

if from used car shop......high chances are the shop is the culprit....they will change the rims to lousy ones with tyres that reaching skinhead level......

the skin peeling is due to paint coming off....meaning the rims have been touched up before if originally the rims do not have paint.....

i am having more or less the same issues like you.

my rims are stock 15 inch and the outlook is terrible.....scratches and very light dents on rear wheels and i suspect the fronts too....and my conclusion is : to get new 15 inch taiwan rims. reasons:-

1) to get all 4 rims repainted might cost about rm30 per rim for good paint. if get those cheap paints, they will peel/fade easily especially when those car wash uses chemicals on the rims and tyres when washing

2) repairing the rims will cost rm30 each for dent repair and rm5 for balancing on each tyre

3) japan rims are way too expensive for me. taiwan will probably set me back about RM600-800

4) will not change to 16 inch rims with low profile tyres. malaysian roads with pot holes will only cost my rims and tyres investments go to waste. plus 16inch tyres are about twice the price of my 15inch tyres. i bought michelin tyres 195/55/15 that cost about rm240 each and the 16 inch will be about rm420 each

Yokohama tires are comfortable but they don't last long. They tend to wear out much faster... Don't know about Simex... tongue.gif

Simex sucks 455 man. Noisy like hell.

Btw upgrading from 13 to 14 shouldnt be a problem. Brands like KSpeed/KR is recommended.

They are light smile.gif
