It is not about abusing it but about building a credit history with the bank and also to get the goodies.
1) If you are thinking of buying a car or a house, a good credit history will get the loan approved faster and with a higher loan amount.
2) Some CC have 5% cash back and that equates a 5% discount. Even if you can afford it buying cash, why not use the CC and get a 5% discount?
3) Free insurance on air travel. More savings.
4) Treat points in which you can redeem cool stuff.
5) Banks CC offers on purchases. Could be movie tickets, could be anything. Sometimes up to 50% off.
6) Emergency money.
I am not condoning usage of CC but it is a lesson for the holder to learn how to control his/her expenses. Initially very syok with all that credit but do remember that the bills have to be settled within a month's time. Once the holder learns that he has to pay interest on the unsettled amount, the "free" spending on un-needed stuff will automatically stop. That is what the limit is for.
1) I got my house loan without credit card. My first cc was when I got the house loan.
2) There are maximum amount of the 5%. For example RM30-50 monthly.
3) Same as 2. Diff marketing style though. Different type of card too. Not that you will fly frequently at that wage.
4) Usually lots of points involved hence, either you need to keep spending or wait a long time.
5) Okay only this I gotta agree. But apply to certain banks and type of card I think? I don't think it should be the sole reason to have a card though.
6) Emergency yes, but at most cases it can be the ease of paying upfront on things you like but not need. Happens all the time.
I don't think there are cards that has all benefits above in one go too.
