QUOTE(chinti @ Nov 15 2016, 08:53 PM) we r suspecting bcoz she kinda lost her freedom after diagnosed wit cancer n now feeling depress, her parents ban her from eating this n tht or doing this n tht. instead of banning from eating why not the whole family change to healthy diet. by doing that they could control her diet and give morale boost to her.susah senang sama-sama |

I've personally know people who went to seek help at this following centre:
Klinik Pakar Psikiatri Ting near IOI Boulevard, Puchong Shield near Sungai Besi (http://www.sols247.org/shield/) If money not an issue, go to Ting's but Shield is more affordable. |

QUOTE(nazq @ Nov 15 2016, 09:13 PM) PPUM have a psychiatric unit. Well, for a start they will put medical students doing some interview and such before being referred to the doctor. To be very honest, the approach to mental care here in malaysia still has much to improve. Most people, professionals and general public alike, look at it like a physical sickness which can be cured with pills. Matter of fact its a combination of care & medication, in fact more the former once the initial symptoms have come under control.I say this because you can get pretty good medication etc from our hospitals, but the care side must come from family. Otherwise its a tough spot, and quickly becomes and endless cycle of episodes. |

Matter of fact its a combination of care & medication, in fact more the former once the initial symptoms have come under control. Somehow I get that impression from my session - the doctor told that I didn't need any medication. It's not that I come there asking for such medication in the first place.I say this because you can get pretty good medication etc from our hospitals, but the care side must come from family. Otherwise its a tough spot, and quickly becomes and endless cycle of episodes. |

Sigh, usually cancer onset on such an early age isn't caused by environmental or lifestyle choices. It's all in the genes. Changing her diet and forcing her to stay home isn't going to help one bit. Should just let her carry on her life as usual with her friends and schoolmates and follow the oncologist instructions. There's always some auntie or uncle that come and say "this xxx is good, must take a lot" or "must avoid xxxx later cancer come back" or some crap like that.
I strongly believe forcing her to change her lifestyle and forcing her to adapt to "old people sayings" are what drove her towards suicide. My mom was diagnosed with cancer a few months back and I've tried putting myself in her shoes, with all the nonsense and "advice" from the more elderly. If I'm forced to follow their instructions, I would probably do the same as her. Anyway, I'm not a psychiatrist, that's just what I felt when I read the story. Best is still to bring her to a good psychiatrist and try to understand why she did it. Then please, listen to the professional's advice and don't try to become experts. |

If mental illness is something to do with the physical, why is it that I never see people with head injuries develop mental illness? Pills can supress bad symptoms (hysteria, hallucinations etc), but in long term counselling & support are the only way to go |

QUOTE(sylar111 @ Nov 17 2016, 06:23 PM) Look I'm not arguing that popping pills is the way to go. But i would not discount their aid in treatment. I am no psychiatrist or psychologist, but speaking from personal experience. If you believe in a no medication philosophy then by all means share your knowledge & information |

Already dying now treated as a prisoner. I hope the parents get cancer asap. QUOTE(ashestoashes @ Nov 16 2016, 11:57 AM) so how is she now? don't tell me she's grounded at home Agree, jus treat her as normal person, let her do what she like. Staying at home make her more depress.
