Here is how I think

1) CPU- Dual Core need around 3.3Ghz to get 5.9. Any quad core CPU even at low speed will get 5.9. Thats why Phenom 9500 and Q6600 at stock can get 5.9.

3) Memory- RAM need to run at least 420mhz(840 DDR) to get 5.9.

3) Graphics - depends of chipset and VRAM.

4) Any HDD with 7200rpm and 16MB cache will get 5.9. RAID0 obviously will get 5.9

Here are components ive tested:
E6320@3.1Ghz - 5.7
E4500@2.65Ghz - 5.3
ATI X1950 XT 256MB - 5.9/5.8
Hitachi T7K500 320MB 16MB 7200rpm - 5.9
Hitachi P7K500 500MB 16MB 7200rpm - 5.9
Q6600@2.4Ghz - 5.9
8800 GTS 512 - 5.9/5.9
DDR2@740 - 5.4
DDR2@400 - 5.9

oops... ya it is actually... didnt know that sweat.gif ....

anyways found something here:
QUOTE
1 is the lowest possible score a Vista capable PC can receive. If it’s lower than 1, it doesn’t exist. No, I’m just kidding. And also, temporarily, the score cannot be over 5.9. Microsoft has promised to introduce overtime scores of 6 and above. But to avoid confusion, larger scores will simply add to the one already in existent without altering the 1 to 5.9 range.

This part I disagreed. Mine is 4 x 1GB Kingston HyperX 1066MHz DDR2 only scored 5.6.

Max is only 5.9 only. sweat.gif

"The Memory Score is a reflection of the bandwidth of moving data into and out of memory in mega bytes per second. This means that for 256 MB RAM, there will be a highest possible score of 1.0. For less than 500 MB - 2.0, 512 MB or less - 2.9, less than 704 MB - 3.5, less than 960 MB - 3.9 and less than 1.5 GB - 4.5."

This may mean that since I am using 32-bit vista (which maximum can support 4GB RAM) and my DDR2 is 4GB and my GC's GDDR3 is 1 GB. Thus, the index thought that I am only got less than 3GB of DDR2 in my system. Am I correct? Can I said that?

How come like that, I've tested both my Hitachi 320GB and 500GB 7200rpm 16MB both also get 5.9. Btw, I that after clean install.

What speed u r running your RAM and CPU at? Even my quad at 8x400, memory running at 800mhz 5-5-5-15 can get 5.9.

Btw, I did all the test in Vista x64 SP1. Score might differ between x86,x64,non-SP1 and SP1. The scores are just for personal satisfaction.

I am using Vista x86 SP1. My ram current setting is 5-5-5-15. Maybe you are right. If I use x64 then, my score should be 5.9.

Anyway, even now I score all 5.9, what different do it make. smile.gif

Here is my score for my vista 32-bit with SP1:

I assume your Q6600 is running at stock speed. 9x266=2400. That means your RAM is also running at 266mhz(532 DDR2) even though you have performance RAM. Try running at higher divider. eg 1:1.5 or 1:1:2 so that your RAM can run faster. You should also try overclocking your quad because at stock its pretty slow. Get it to at least 3Ghz.

Weird, my ram is Corsair Value ram, only runs at 512Mhz(it is, not 1k mhz) @ 4-4-4-12 , can get 5.9 sweat.gif

IMO, u need 1.5Gb above, and Dual Channel, in order to score 5.9 marks.

AMD systems can easily get 5.9 in memory unlike Intel.

AMD intergrated memory controller is faster then Intel's one in northbridge, that's why AMD systems get 5.9 easily.
