Your friend never clean his tank I guess.... I keep gerbils at my staircase and in my room.... I only smell woodshavings and hay.... If never clean more than 2 weeks, then of course the ammonia smell becomes strong.... but gerbils are odourless.

Smelly? I got 14 of them and its not smelly even after 2 weeks of not changing bedding. What bedding he use? Or maybe his water bottle is leaky.

Mine 1 week plus nvr change alrd but mom still nvr complain. Only complain my 1 ww hamster smelly. whahahaha

Gerbils don't pee alot and their bodies are so clean and odourless.... scent gland also no smell to us hahaah...
