QUOTE(ESTDDON @ Nov 11 2016, 03:16 PM) Only a public Preview Event for now. Specs and price are not confirmed, as yet. However, Naza Kia is most likely to bring in the 2.2 liter CRDi Turbo Diesel Engine variant for our market. This post has been edited by Buydirect: Nov 11 2016, 04:39 PM |

Does the DRL light up permanently or only when headlamps/foglamps are turned on?
Interested in getting the mid spec but need to wait for Kia to give free service and huge discounts. Seeing kia Malaysia trend, better don't get 1st batch. Wait few months first. |

QUOTE(monocle @ Mar 25 2017, 09:20 AM) DRL or Day Time Running Light, as the name suggest, turns on during the day time. That means, it only functions when the headlamps/fog lamps are off. Some models like the Cerato K3, the DRL will only turn on, when the parking brake is released. For the Carnival, will need to test if there is some sort of control with the parking brake. |

BTW such a design flaw...the seats rails on the floor. How to put a proper floor mat..Malaysian weather and roads full of mud...car will be filled with dirt in no time with no proper floor mat! Obviously the car designed without a ladies input when it is the ladies that are making decisions on cars moving their kids and possibly ladies driving them...

QUOTE(monocle @ Mar 25 2017, 06:45 PM) The DRL is actually the small light , that you can turn on or off, with the switch at the lever. It doesn't turn on automatically during the day time when you start the engine. As such it gives the driver control over it. QUOTE(uputra81 @ Mar 25 2017, 08:04 PM) Yes, there are some after market grills that you can change, but I think it will take some time before you can get them here in Malaysia, unless you buy directly from Korea or US and in websites like ebayQUOTE(Kirstentoh @ Mar 31 2017, 11:08 PM) KX is 2 tone black and light grey. The lowest spec or the D model is also the same , however, the stock has not come in and will be based on order basis and longer lead time. This post has been edited by Buydirect: Apr 2 2017, 05:14 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

Obviously the car designed without a ladies input when it is the ladies that are making decisions on cars moving their kids and possibly ladies driving them... The rails allow the 2nd row seats to be pushed forward and folded in vertical position as shown in picture. This allow easy access for the passengers to the 3rd row seat. This is a great advantage , and thus allow the car to be an 8 seater instead of 7 seater by adding an extra seat in the middle of the 2nd row. Nonetheless, if you are willing to sacrifice the middle 2nd row seat, you can remove the seat, and create an aisle in the middle so that passengers can have access to the 3rd row. When you do this, you don't have to bother about the rails on the floor or the sliding function of the 2nd row seats and you can buy "cut to size" coil mats to cover the entire floor of the vehicle. So it is flexibility all around to suit your preference and needs, both for men and ladies. This post has been edited by Buydirect: Apr 2 2017, 05:12 PM Attached thumbnail(s) |

QUOTE(Buydirect @ Apr 18 2017, 12:45 PM) That is probably the only setback. But all in all, the pros outweight the cons, in my opinion and in many reviews by car bloggers & critics in Malaysia. Consumer already complaint it since Kia k5 model. Kia k3 comes with double din radio, but look cheaper (ala made in china) type of radio, not similar like rest market for kia infotainment system. Why kia malaysia still provide us old type radio? Why not using like rest kia model like in US etc. Honda malaysia can do it. |

QUOTE(ayamxxx @ Apr 18 2017, 02:13 PM) Consumer already complaint it since Kia k5 model. Grand Carnival is currently a fully imported or CBU model. If Kia Malaysia were to bring in the big touch screen head unit from Korea, it is going to be very costly and the price of the car may increase by easily 7-8K or more, judging by our unfavourable currency exchange rate. Kia k3 comes with double din radio, but look cheaper (ala made in china) type of radio, not similar like rest market for kia infotainment system. Why kia malaysia still provide us old type radio? Why not using like rest kia model like in US etc. Honda malaysia can do it. On the hand hand, Kia Cerato K3 is a FULLY local assembly model (CKD) including paint work at the plant in Gurun, hence it is feasible to outsource OEM head unit from China in bulk, which cost much less and allow the car to be priced competitively. The sales volume for Cerato is much higher, that is why it is a CKD programme. For now, the solution for Grand Carnival head unit is to go with after market solutions. At this point, nobody knows if there will be any difference in the specs or pricing. However, it is unlikely that the pricing will differ by much, because KIA no longer has the national car status for special tax rebate, unlike the previous re-batching of Carnival to Naza Ria. |

The plan is there to do CKD in the near future. At this point, nobody knows if there will be any difference in the specs or pricing. However, it is unlikely that the pricing will differ by much, because KIA no longer has the national car status for special tax rebate, unlike the previous re-batching of Carnival to Naza Ria. No more re-batching from KIA to NAZA anymore. Naza was given the national MPV status previously because there was no national MPV at that time. Today, we already have the Alza and Exora. Not to mention that back then, it was an open secret that there were more political strings for Naza to swing certain auto policies to its favour. A case in point is the Kia Cerato K3, it could not be re-batched under the Naza brand anymore, unlike the Forte, which was the last Naza model to roll out of the assembly line. |

QUOTE(Buydirect @ Apr 18 2017, 12:45 PM) That is probably the only setback. But all in all, the pros outweight the cons, in my opinion and in many reviews by car bloggers & critics in Malaysia. Unfortunately for me, this is the biggest setback. I need the HU to play some videos in order to keep my child calm and if changing the HU from KIA cost 7k to 8k, then it's very ridiculous |

Due to safety issues. However they are some cables required to counter those video in motion play. |

No captain seat available. And no 3.3 petrol engine. Just the 2.2 diesel turbo engine.

I will provide some insight as Carnival KX owner. Been using for 3 months.
What I liked: - Noise level. On idling, it’s a very quiet cabin. Cannot differentiate petrol or diesel. But if you’re outside though then it’s a different story – the diesel sound is obvious, very obvious. In city driving, less than 2k rpm is sufficient to move this 2ton MPV effortlessly. Below 2k rpm, the diesel clatter is very well controlled. Similar to Mercedes diesel than Hilux etc. Between 2k to 3k rpm, you can start spinning the wheel (effortlessly as well). On highway speed, it’s very calm cabin. You can communicate easily without raising your voice. Quieter than Honda & Toyota. At highway speed, it’s comparable/quieter than the latest Alphard (I had been in once between Bangkok airport & city). - Power. 2.5 Alphard/Vellfire, move away. It pulls as well as 3.5 V6 Alphard/Vellfire. At highway speed, it’s less than 2k rpm (very relaxing). 160kmh is easy. 180kmh is manageable but the engine will be too noisy, quite tiring to the ear.. It’s like driving Honda at 130-140kmh. - Handling & Size. Good! REALLY doesn’t feel like a 2 ton car. It follows your intended direction, and brake effortlessly. Driving at highway speed, the feeling is comparable to driving CX5. At 160kmh, the confidence is there. - Boot space!!! Why I bought this in the first place. For Alphard/Vellfire, you have to choose whether to carry people or luggage if you’re going for a long trip. This monster boot space is huge. It takes anything. Bring 8 person + all luggages. Surely, there will be questions why I chose this over Hyundai Starex. Simply because the handling. I have driven rental Starex for a week, it’s a huge boat. As a comparative, MPV with XV40 Toyota Camry handling. What could have made it better: - Built in Bluetooth please….I mean, how much is a bluetooth chip??? Anyway, I have found a solution. Google : Roidmi 3s. It connects to your phone via Bluetooth and transmit back to FM for the radio… So low tech.. It’s pre-order currently. My unit has yet to arrive, will test and update. DO NOT BUY ROIDMI 2S. IT DOES NOT WORK WITH CARNIVAL!! - Auto A/C. The colour combination for high spec is not my taste…. That’s why I chose the mid spec.. But mid spec do not have auto A/C!!! Very regrettable.. - The auto door logic is hard to learn.. This is my first auto door car. I find it very troublesome to shift to P before I can electronically open the door (you can still open it manually). No override switch.. And when it refuse to open, it just refuse to open with just a ‘beep’. Kia could have incorporate warning message why the auto door is not opening. For the first 2 weeks, it’s a hide & seek game trying to find out whats wrong. Is it hard to maneuver? Yes, especially in Multi-storey building. The steering is light and power is sufficient, but you need to be always be very aware of the size and length of the car. These are what I could think of so far. If you need more feedback, shoot me the questions here. Will answer as much as I know. This post has been edited by williamc: Jul 25 2017, 09:19 AM |

And the sound quality is good, been testing during the weekend. You can just leave your radio to the preset frequency and leave it just like that. No hissing sound evne when there's no audio input. It's as good as using 3.5mm audio cable. And the bluetooth auto connects once your phone has been paired. Though, takes a slowish 10-15seconds to auto connect... The Roidmi comes with 2 additional USB port (3.4A max for both). So in total you get 5 USB port in the car!! What I liked: - Noise level. On idling, it’s a very quiet cabin. Kia Ranks Highest among Brands for Second Consecutive Year
COSTA MESA, Calif.: 21 June 2017 — New-vehicle quality is at its highest level ever, improving a significant 8% from last year, according to the J.D. Power 2017 U.S. Initial Quality Study,SM (IQS) released today. Initial quality in this iconic study is measured by the number of problems experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100) during the first 90 days of ownership, with a lower score reflecting higher quality. In this year’s study, quality improves across seven of the eight categories measured, with 27 of the 33 brands in the study improving their quality compared with 2016. “Automotive manufacturers are responding to consumer feedback and producing vehicles of the highest quality,” said Dave Sargent, vice president, global automotive at J.D. Power. “The industry has improved significantly in each of the past three years. Today’s vehicles have more things that could go wrong but fewer things that actually do go wrong.” Following are some of the study’s key findings: Technology improving but still problematic: Audio/communication/entertainment/navigation (ACEN) remains the area where new-vehicle owners experience the most problems. However, this category shows the most improvement since 2016 with a score of 22.8 PP100, or 2.7 PP100 better than last year. Early warning bells for autonomous technology: The only category to worsen this year is features, controls and displays. The largest increases in problems are for cruise control (primarily adaptive cruise); lane departure warning; collision avoidance/alert systems; and blind spot warning. These features comprise some of the building blocks of autonomous vehicles, and an increasing number of consumer-reported problems sounds warning bells for automakers and suppliers. Consumers will need to be convinced that these systems are foolproof before they will give up driving control to autonomous vehicles. Domestic brands continue to show improvement: The “Detroit Three” outperform import brands for the second year in a row but for only the third time since the study was first published in 1987. In 2017, domestic brands receive a score of 93 PP100 compared with 99 PP100 for import brands. Last year, domestic brands also had fewer problems (103 PP100) compared with import brands (106 PP100). “The Initial Quality Study continues to demonstrate the critical importance of automakers responding to consumer feedback regarding vehicle quality,” Sargent said. “Any automaker that stands still will quickly start to fall behind. For consumers, the great news is that significant improvements are occurring in all model segments, meaning that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a quality vehicle.” Highest-Ranked Brands Kia ranks highest in overall initial quality for a second consecutive year with a score of 72 PP100. Genesis (77 PP100) ranks second overall followed by Porsche (78 PP100). Ford and Ram (86 PP100) tie for fourth. MINI is the most improved brand, with owners reporting 33 PP100 fewer problems than in 2016. Other brands with strong improvement include Ram (28 PP100 improvement), Acura (19), Volvo (18) and Ford (16). Segment-Leading Models The parent company receiving the most model-level awards for its various brands is Hyundai Motor Co. (five model-level awards), followed by General Motorsand BMW, each with four. Hyundai Motor Co. models that rank highest in their respective segments are the Kia Cadenza; Kia Forte; Kia Niro; Kia Sorento; and Kia Soul. General Motors models that rank highest in their segments are the Chevrolet Silverado; Chevrolet Silverado HD; Chevrolet Sonic; and GMC Terrain. BMW models that rank highest in their segments are the BMW 2 Series; BMW 4 Series; BMW X6; and MINI Cooper. Other models that rank highest in their respective segments are the Chrysler Pacifica; Ford Expedition; Ford Mustang; Infiniti QX80; Lexus GS; Mercedes-Benz GLA; Nissan Frontier; Porsche 911; Porsche Macan; and Toyota Camry. Plant Quality Awards Toyota Motor Corp.’s Kyushu 2 plant (Japan), which produces the Lexus ES and Lexus RX, receives the Platinum Plant Quality Award for producing models with the fewest defects or malfunctions. Plant quality awards are based solely on defects and malfunctions and exclude design-related problems. General Motors’ Fort Wayne (Ind.) plant, which produces the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, receives the Gold Plant Quality Award for the Americas region, while Porsche’s Leipzig plant, which produces the Porsche Cayenne and Macan, receives the Gold Plant Quality Award for the Europe/Africa region. Historical Notes In 1987, when the IQS was first published, Mercedes-Benz ranked highest as a nameplate while the Toyota Cressida was the highest-ranked model. Domestic brands have scored better than imports in only three years (2010, 2016 and 2017). Mass market brands have scored better than premium brands in only three years (2006, 2016 and 2017). There have been four generations of the study (IQS1: 1987-1997; IQS2: 1998-2005; IQS3: 2006-2012; IQS4: 2013-present). The industry has shown significant improvement in each iteration, with the best IQS scores occurring in the most recent year for each generation. The U.S. Initial Quality Study is based on responses from nearly 80,000 purchasers and lessees of new 2017 model-year vehicles who were surveyed after 90 days of ownership. The study is based on a 233-question battery organized into eight problem categories designed to provide manufacturers with information to facilitate the identification of problems and drive product improvement. The study was fielded from February through May 2017. The diesel engine is using the standard Euro 2M diesel, or need to look for Euro 5?

QUOTE(temong @ Oct 6 2017, 07:31 PM) Hi. Heard they have started to roll out the ckd version. Any ideas on the price? What's the average price difference between a cbu and a ckd unit? The CKD has not been launched yet. There are still come CBU stock in the market but are now limited. As far as I know, there won't be any price drop. For certain models, the government may allow the distributor to import certain number of cars to fast-track the launch, with condition that a CKD plan has been established in the long run. The duties therefore are fixed, for this limited quantity of CBU and subsequent CKD units. This is what I think is happening for Kia Grand Carnival for Malaysia. |

Some promos going on including pre reg units. Looking at sorento diesel and carnival. Not sure if KV5 applicable for pre reg units.
If carnival has CKD maybe price would be cheaper and maybe better specs? |

QUOTE(Fat Cat Lim @ Nov 6 2017, 03:47 PM) Any possibilty of additional promotions for Kia this weekend during the Malaysia Autoshow 2017 in Serdang? Seriously considering the Grand Carnival, but am holding off until this weekend before deciding. The situation with Kia Grand Carnival is that the 2017 CBU stocks are almost sold out, only very very limited numbers left in the market. This with the exception of LS spec (Low Spec) without power sliding doors and without push start button, whereby there is some special discount going on, but even then , the stocks is also already limited. As for for mid spec (MS) and high spec (EX) variant, the new CKD stocks are expected to roll out of the factory only by end of December 2017 (endorsed upon request) or early January 2018. This is due to the time required to set up the assembly line and contraints of resources at the factory. Therefore, there is really no pressure to clear any existing 2017 Carnival stocks, unlike that of Sorento where the standard discount is as much as 20K. |

The new 8 Inch touch screen Multimedia Infortainment System has Android Auto and Apple carplay built-in. Once your phone is plug in, the head unit screen is essentially your phone, so you can do anything you normally do on the screen instead of on your phone, hence it helps you to keep your eyes on the road, to a certain degree at least.

As we all know, the new government has pledged to abolish GST and replace it with SST (sales and service tax). Although, the plan is to make this change within the first 100 days, it is quite unlikely to happen due to the many challenges, a fact attested to by Dr Zeti Aziz, the ex-governor of the Central Bank and a member of Council of Elders appointment by new PM
Due to the uncertainty of how this change might affect new car pricing, many buyers are holding back their purchases. In response, Naza Kia Malaysia has released a statement and a guarantee to all new Kia car purchases after 10th May 2018 that should the car price reduces due to changes in the tax structure, Naza Kia Malaysia will reimburse them with additional FREE service as a form of compensation. However, there is also a possibility that the price might increase after the abolishment of GST. Therefore, car buyers would not loose out in both scenarios. In actual fact, when the country implemented 6% GST on 1st April 2015, car prices in Malaysia generally reduced by 1-3 %. Therefore, one can deduce, if the country reverts back to the 10% SST and other factors remain unchanged, car prices should increase back by the same rate. |

The seats on the last row has a sink-in mechanism and will give you a flat floor . But the 2nd row seats (except the middle seat) cannot be removed easily without removing the bolts that hold them onto the floor. Suggest you visit a KIA showroom and check out the car to understand it more. |

There is no special compartment to store the middle seat, if that is what you are asking for. It would be just like any furniture piece , that is best to store at home or garage once it is removedQUOTE(royang @ May 30 2018, 10:27 AM) The size is the 2 Din type but the design is unique and normal D din player from the open market will not simply fit nicely. Which brings us to the question, why do you want to replace it? There are solutions in the market that comes with a DVD drive, if you need. |

There is an after market solution for the 3D or 360 degree camera but require you to change the stock head unit, if you want. Kia itself, do not offer such a solution. |

the original Head unit is with android auto, carplay...it's waste to change it for 360 camera.
As my understanding, aftermarket 360 camera is rely on the 4 cam input module. 4 camera input to the 360 module and 1 output to the headunit/ external monitor of course there is 3 more input which can tap to the reverse signal, and left&right signal light. IF the original Headunit reverse cam is with standard av input connector it's possible to install it. BUT the guide line of original reverse camera might causing problem. Was told by the SA that Carnival can use normal diesel available at any Gas Station. By the way how many KM for the 1st Service required as I am planning for a long trip back to kampung this Hari Raya. Is it true that there is a break in period for a new car like driving not more that 80 kph before the 1sr Service?

Yes , you can use the normal diesel but we don't recommend it on consistent and prolong basis to preserve the engine. Try to use Euro 5 as much as possible.Naza Kia is now doing a trial run with normal diesel and to gauge the long term effect, and at the moment, have not heard of any adverse effects. It is good to observe the break in period, even tho not mentioned specifically by KIA in the manual. Engine are much toughter these days compared to the older ones, break-in period is less critical these days but better to observe it. |

Kia Grand Carnival SX comes with 19” tyres. How much it cost to replace the tyres once they worn out? 19” ones are more expensive right

Any idea when the facelifted model with 8 speed transmission and electric brake will be coming?
Also, anybody knows of a showroom near Damansara/Kepong area that has a unit available for test drive? |

QUOTE(williamc @ Jul 24 2017, 06:57 PM) I will provide some insight as Carnival KX owner. |

QUOTE(stevesee @ Jul 1 2018, 07:42 PM) Hi William, Kia recommend only Euro 5 diesel for Grand Carnival. Euro 2 should only be used during emergency when the tank is low and you are unable to find a station that offers Euro 5. It is not recommended to use Euro 2 on prolong basis.I am thinking to get this Grand Carnival KX or SX. Can you share with me after 1 year old car any good and bad expirince? Had a long trip from Melaka to Machang, Kelantan then on the next day drive back. This MPV is really pack with power which with ease you can overtake vehicles in front of you with ease. It so comfortable to drive, I can drive it straight for 7 hours non-stop if I want to. Had a blast of high speed on the new highway from Lipis to Gua Musang, very sturdy, quite and hardly notice the high speed.

Naza is still unable to secure any price approval from the government until now, as such the cars cannot be launched, duty cannot be paid, and stocks cannot be released yet.
I understand that many other new car model/variant launches have also suffered delay. Maybe the government does not want to loose out on the potential revenue from SST, hence holding back the price approval. Whether this delay has also anything to do with Tun M's call to impose more restrictions on imported brand is also a possibility.... |

Im also very intersted in the new facelift.i just heard from SA that's earliest might be end of aug or early Sept. Doubt will be able to make use of the GST-free price. Hopefully the specs will same as those in Korea with all the safety features.

Even if it comes out end August, don't think there is time for bank to even process the loan application unless one buys cash. SadWhat i hope for the most is the electric parking brake. I thought should be confirm comes with it if it has the 8 speed transmission. But interestingly the new indonesia model with 8speed is still using foot operated brake. I am planning to get a MPV. And i am consider either take kia grand carnival or recond toyota estima. I am personally intersted with the new kia grand carnival 8AT. and i knew if talking about features, kia grand carnival is leading, but no doubts toyota estima are reliable car for so long and alot of people driving estima on the road compare with carnival.
But below is my concern for taking kia carnival, - fuel consumption - spare parts and maintenance cost - spare part waiting period - 8AT with diesel turbo engine reliability - second value Hope can get someone advise before i make my final decision. Appreciated if anyone who used kia carnival for years can share your experience. |

QUOTE(tan171076 @ Sep 26 2018, 09:55 PM) I am planning to get a MPV. I have an older Estima ACR30 (2005) and my closed cousin also bought a Estima ACR50 (2010) almost at the same time 3+ years ago. So I can say something about Estima. Lets start with the cons : ---------------------------- It's evergreen looking, but being recon you have no warranty or whatsoever and you are required to pay service bill from day 1. ALL ESTIMA PRIOR TO 2016 LATEST FACELIFT DO NOT HAVE ESC or ESP (electronic stability control). Can you accept this ? For ACR50 there is a design problem on the steering column, have glok glok sound, even after this RM2k replacement, it can only last about 3 year. Do not fall into the trap that Estima have strong resale value, if you buy a 3-5 yrs old recond car, after you use it for 5-6 years it exceeds 10 yrs of age. Hard to get financing for the next buyer, so resale value will be suppressed by car dealers. Even if you buy a 2 years old 2016 model with latest facelift, it will set you back with closed to RM200k, you use it for 5 years it will be a 8 years old car, you probably get back something like 90k from car dealers. To me that is quite good already lar FC is not something to shout about for Estima, in city the 2.4 car can cost you quite a bit to run. If you live in big city, prepare to see 7km per litre of RON95 petrol (you get 8km when you are EXTREMELY light footed and lucky). On highway it can then reach about 10-11km per litre. Then we talk about the pro : -------------------------------- Other than the above, Estima is a O-reliable simple car. Not a lot of electronics to deal with. Almost workshop or tyreshop know how to fix a Estima. Spare parts are abundant. Secondhand parts are also abundant. Evergreen looking. Easy to sell, there are lots of ppl looking for Estima when you want to sell in future. It's also not hard to sell it via mudah by yourself, do remember to let it go before it reaches 10 yrs of age. QUOTE(soulz69 @ Sep 23 2018, 02:44 PM) Yes, equipped.QUOTE(tan171076 @ Sep 26 2018, 09:55 PM) I am planning to get a MPV. Kia Grand Carnival advantage is that it comes with Free 3 Years service @ 60,000 km for oil, parts and labour worth around RM 6500. As for remaining years, cost to service is around 2 - 2.3K in a year, assuming you service 2 times /year.But below is my concern for taking kia carnival, - fuel consumption - spare parts and maintenance cost - spare part waiting period - 8AT with diesel turbo engine reliability - second value Hope can get someone advise before i make my final decision. Appreciated if anyone who used kia carnival for years can share your experience. You also get 5 Years warranty unlimited mileage for peace of mind. Kia strenght is not so much in the resale value department but it makes up for it by offering great specs, world class quality, safety and value. Car is a depreciating asset, as many would say. Safety first always because money (resale value) cannot buy you safety at the critical moments when you need those safety features to kick in when facing an emergency or life threatening situation. My 2 cents |

QUOTE(4WD_er @ Sep 27 2018, 09:06 AM) I have an older Estima ACR30 (2005) and my closed cousin also bought a Estima ACR50 (2010) almost at the same time 3+ years ago. So I can say something about Estima. Couldn't agree more on the fc parts. My neighbour happen to be a alphard v6 3.5 2009 version also complaint of its fc. He bought a new myvi just for office drive as the v6 fc is too much. Another office colleagues also complained the same for his which are on 2.4 engine, its hard to get 10km/l.Lets start with the cons : ---------------------------- It's evergreen looking, but being recon you have no warranty or whatsoever and you are required to pay service bill from day 1. Best thing is it really quite and durable considering its an old car. |

I am about to make my final decision to get either new carnival or recond estima. Just to get further advice, will KIA Malaysia going to improve the spare parts waiting period ? As i personally got to knew there are quite normal for KIA spare parts take longer time to arrive and this was an issue / concern facing by KIA customer.

After driving for a week plus with the new 8AT, FC is around 10 or less depends if you floor it. but light cruising and long distance drive will be around 8-9. full tank can get around 700-750km. first pump i did last week around rm135 for 60+ Litres @ below last quarter on the meter. The drive is rather amazing, the transmission plus the turbo diesel torque makes the driving smooth and exciting for a car this huge. Turning radius for Kia GC is 5.6 while the estima is at 5.7. May not be much but its really helpful when making u turns on 2 lane roads.Back to the main point of ur question. may not answer your question directly. but i did order leather seat and side step add on. Took around a week to get those 2 items ( those are custom colored and new colored steps) Panthera Metal thus the week wait for the add on. Hope it helps. If you stay in KL, it will be faster compared to JB or Sabah Sarawak. |

QUOTE(tan171076 @ Oct 4 2018, 01:07 PM) Side step is used mostly for young children, who are usually light weight and have difficulty climbing up the car because of their lack of height. Sometimes, they are used by the elderly as well. As for most mature adults, they don't need to step on it when going up the car. Having said that, I do not have such data to conclusively say that the side step can withstand 100 kg pounding day in-day out but so far, none of my customers face any quality of installation issue. Welcome to PM me for details, if you are keen as forumers are not supposed to do sales on this thread. Thanks |

Hi
Not sure if my question has been answered here before. I took delivery of the grand carnival a year ago. Is the grand carnival fitted with a diesel particulate filter (dpf)? I asked the dealer I bought it from and he said yes it’s fitted but I read somewhere that the grand carnival in malaysia not fitted with dpf since euro5 diesel is not widely available as euro 2. |

I have also asked my sorento whatsapp group members a few times and also ask SC, some said yes some said no. Could not get a firm answer. Only time will tell haha
I think we just take it as yes. Do try to take the car for a long drive once in a while to clear the dust that build up over time in the DPF |

If you go strictly by the book on warranty, you cannot change any thing of the original stock car. However, as we know it, some items are of low risk, plug and play items or physical accessory that do not require heavy modification of extensive re-wiring, which are worth considering. If you are overly concerned on warranty, best not to touch anything. Just my 2 cents. |

QUOTE(Buydirect @ Sep 10 2018, 12:52 PM) Malaysian spec without 360 degree camera. Boss Buydirect, since you / your company is one of the top KIA dealers in the country, can you advise whether there is a way or platform we owners of Sorento / Carnival (the big KIA cars) can sign a petition or request to ask KIA Malaysia to offer the 360 camera as a separate add-on package for us the existing owners. Since our cars are already fitted with reverse camera with the 7" inch screen, the additional work and cost should not be so much, and it can make many many owners happy yet KIA SC will earn the extra money at the same time. It's like a win-win-win situation. Can you please advise ? |

Since our cars are already fitted with reverse camera with the 7" inch screen, the additional work and cost should not be so much, and it can make many many owners happy yet KIA SC will earn the extra money at the same time. Thank you for your interest and highlighting the needs. There are some hindrances as to why this is quite a challenge for Kia Malaysia to do. Firstly, to begin with, the current head unit with android auto/apple carplay does not have an extra port to enable the installation of a 360 degree camera. That is why, even though there is an after market solution for 360 degree camera, the current head unit need to be changed to one that has that extra port to accommodate this feature. It's like a win-win-win situation. Can you please advise ? The second reason why KGC does not come with built-in 360 degree camera is probably because of the high cost and unfavourable currency exchange rate. All purchases from Korea are made in USD, that a fully specced unit with Around View Monitor (AVM) render the price not competitive in our market. Our lower sales volume in Malaysia is not helping either to bargain for more price reduction from Kia Korea. When Kia Malaysia announces the prices of new models, the general public view is that they are greedy and wants to make hefty profits. I for one, know that this is not true, but that perception remains. It is also important to note, that the car warranty is given by Kia Motors Corporation Korea, hence any tempering using local solutions ,even by Kia Malaysia authorised accessory department may jeopardize the warranty, unless approved otherwise by KMC.. |

Just to share some new design of leather seat upgrade solutions for Kia Grand Carnival KX owners....
In case you are wondering, the beige plastic seats were for the lower based spec model from the first batch, which has been discontinued. However, the 2-Tone design can be achieved for the current batch of KX thru mix and match of leather colors. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

So far, only Optima GT-Line has the AVM (Around View Monitor) in all Kia Malaysia model line-up as at this moment. Don't know what's in KIA Malaysia management's head. QUOTE(tan171076 @ Jan 21 2019, 09:33 PM) just bought new KIA carnival with 8 speed model. Having issue with pull to the left. Already done re-alignment and balancing, change chamber nuts.. but issue still remain. Heard some other customer who have same issue offered by nearest KIA outlet change spring. Anyone face same issue and how does it fixed for your unit? Yes, I recently went for my 20K servicing, and was offered the spring replacement. Took it (was free / under warranty still) and I don't feel that pull to the left anymore.I did it at Red Cube Rawang. A bit far maybe, but quiet and not many appointments (hence the available stock, I guess). Just bring something to munch in case you're planning to stay and wait for the whole thing. |

2nd row center seat 3-Point ELR seat belt found to be defective for some units in Australia. Do check if you have any problem with your unit by simply fastening it and check. I suspect this is probably due to wrong and incompatible buckle being assembled, hence the seat beat could not be fastened.
If you notice in your car, the middle seat belt metal insert would not go into the buckle of the seat on the left or right, next to the doors, and vice-versa. This is a safety mechanism on its own, so that no one can give the excuse of not buckling up ! Link https://www.caradvice.com.au/745607/2019-ki...cLz9hLa0wZf_eok |

Any owners having issued that their stock Kumho tyres are easily blistered/bulged?
My FIL 2018 Carnival only clocked about 20k but 2 months back we claimed 1 stock tyre from the distributor as we found a blister on the thread, instead of the usual sidewall. When we went to our regular tyre shop to change the tyre, the owner asked us to claim for a new tyre as he said the place where the blister occurred could be from manufacturing defect. When my wife and her brother went to KIA Glenmarie, the SC there refused to entertain their request but she managed to get the address of Kumho distributor. My wife managed to get the Kumho distributor to replace a new tyre (but we had to top-up due to the mileage). Recently we found another tyre had blisters too and we don't know if there is a problem with this batch of tyre This post has been edited by widget: Jul 15 2019, 03:59 PM |

The thread is uneven and two have bulges. Opted for Yokohama Advan Sport 235/60 18 at KeanLeeHin. Quality and friendly service. Price per donut please inquire seller directly. As for the tyres. The Advan Sport is a massive improvement over the stock Kumho. Steering feels more direct, straight line tracking is better too. The sidewalls feel firmer, giving you more confidence especially when cornering. Recommended. |

For the benefit of many new owners or prospective buyers who are unaware of the location of spare tyre in the Kia Grand Carnival, please refer to the photos below. Unlike conventional storage behind the boot, the spare tyre for KGC is located under the car at the right side, just below the 2nd row seats. This storage position clears up the boot to house your luggages, as well as to allow the 3rd row seats to be fully flattened, when you require more space for storages.

Pity that the tyres only clocked 20k for 1 1/2 years and we reckon it should have some mileage left before we start shopping for new tyres |

Hi there, with the latest spec and price, i would say KGC really make a good choice. But what i gathered so far, many complained about the bad experience from service centre. Could anyone share more about it?
When comes to claiming certain warranty, the car was left in the service centre for months. anyone can show positive view? |

So far no major issues which was not resolved timely. Biggest issues was engine oil leaking and car stalled. Tow to SC and tested for 2 days...could not detect issue and car returned on 3rd day. All good since 🙏
Other issue was cracked windscreen which was replaced within acceptable time frame once we arranged with SC. SC could not help to redo tint and asked us to do ourselves and submit claim to Ins Co. SC processed windscreen only. Unfortunately got small crack again recently ....maybe the windscreen is a little manja compared to previous Starex. Aside the above no major issues...touch wood! BTW manual doors so one less issue! Drive up north n south since 2017 with no problems. Tyres changed to Primacy SUV was the highest cost incurred. Much better driving experience vs Starex....but somehow Starex easier to get around tight spots vs Carnival. Hope this helps! |

Sorry if i didnt mentioned, both times were caused by stones whilst driving so got reason la but compared other cars never before had one windscreen replaced n one cracked within 12 months. Small crack 1.5 cm so dont wan to claim insurance yet. |

My car was less than 3 months old at that time. You need to check if there is any mark of stone chip. The crack could be triggered by a small stone chip, which would usually be the source or starting point. Sometimes, the stone chip is very small and not noticeble unless you inspect closely.Anyway, it is a good thing that you insure the windscreen. Of course, a car that has a big windscreen like KGC is more subceptible to damage compared to a smaller car. |

I don't have any issues about KGC windscreen yet as so far the issue on my in-laws' KGC that me and my missus have to settle are the tyres and suspension.
But coming from 2nd-gen Mazda CX-5, there have been few reported cases where the windscreen cracks for no apparent reason. Some members managed to claim their windscreens replacement from Mazda directly (without using their WS insurance) when the SC confirmed that there were no stone chips, marks, etc on the cracked area. Maybe can try your luck with KIA's SC This post has been edited by widget: Aug 8 2019, 02:26 PM |

KIA SC didn't want to entertain our claim so my wife, being a lawyer, went direct to the tyre supplier to argue our case and one of the staff there admitted that they have received few complaints on similar type of defect on the stock Kumho tyres from KGC owners, so they relented and replaced the defect tyre with a new one. As for the suspension, my BIL felt some sort of the steering vibration and the car tends to pull to the left. The SC admitted that the suspension is faulty and they replaced it under warranty |

We changed tyres and the tyre shop said there was some alignment ssues as they could not get it right. Thot it was just the shop not familiar with KGC. They did suggest we check with SC. Will do next round. Our friendly neighbourhood tyre shop suggested we claim from the manufacturer as he suspected manufacturer's defect. Funny thing is the tank will remain full until i use the washer. Once used the tank will be empty overnite....hv to check this too! BTW is your coolant full to the max mark or just half full? |

Latest design/color scheme for upgraded Kia Grand Carnival KX with exclusive color matching 2 tone leather seats. The leather seats design look typical to that of the SX original, yet the color scheme of black and grey is completely different to blend perfectly with the KX interior. Simplicity of color is key and truly, a case of less is more !!!

QUOTE(vent @ Sep 2 2019, 12:15 PM) Very subjective I would say. The price difference is 30K. SX is equipped with the following, which are not found in the KX: * LED projector head lamp * smart and power tail gate * 7 inch meter cluster vs 3 inch * LED fog lamp ( ice cube ) * leather with wood trim steering * power driver Seat & front passenger * roof rack * blind spot collision warning system * rear cross collision warning * smart phone wireless charger * memory seat for driver * rear entertainment system ( 2 monitors ) * Leather seats Highlighted in Bold letters are items you can upgrade for less than 10K, albeit thru after-market suppliers. |

With the haze problem going on in many parts of our country, the importance of the clean air system in your Kia Grand Carnival can't be over emphasized than now.
The cluster ionizer makes disinfection and decomposition of bad smell from the air-conditioner or inflow air. And it cleans the inside air of a vehicle. When the ignition switch is ON, the ionizer runs "CLEAN" mode and then "ION" mode, switching between both modes. In the “CLEAN” mode, the cluster ionizer generates negative ions and positive ions to help clean smells from the air. In the “ION” mode, the cluster ionizer generates negative ions and cleans inside air of a vehicle. ![]() |

i plan to get 1 kx model early next month, went over to glenmarie kia showroom recently to meet with Mr Sham. nice chap.
was wondering if anyone here changed their brake rotor to slotted or cross drilled ? where did u change ? also any nice coils to rekomen like eibach ? i just traded in my alphard not long ago to replace with this. test drove my friend's sx yesterday night. diesel fumes are ......well , normal la diesel car. but power wise quite decent, noise level also decent, cabin space also decent. overall i'm ok with this. quite tired of alphard, as is my 3rd alphard liao. sold for good price. overall, the diff between my alphard and this grand carnival is headroom. most visible diff. brakes in grand carnival are also very sharp. abit too sharp to my liking. not sure if full load on high speeds can stop. i gerenti alphard kenot thats why i changed my rotors and 4 pot caliper. also i change the coils to eiback to lessen bodyroll. that made the drive of the alphard much sharper. planning to do the same to my kia grand carnival when i receive the car maybe in october. anyone with any knowledge on cross/slotted disc and coils for grand carnival pls advice. other than that, all the other accessories i can get like tailgate motor and sidestep and etc etc. |

for the B10 or B20 diesel, does it apply to Euro 2 only ? how about Euro 5 ? Does it contain any palm oil, b7, b10? This post has been edited by fong928: Oct 14 2019, 10:27 AM |

TIPS FOR OWNERS
Your Kia Grand Carnival is equipped with 3-point ELR seat belt for the middle seat on the 2nd and 3rd row. Many users however do not know how to unfasten this seat belt, as there is no button on the left buckle, unlike the one on the right. To unfasten the seat belt, simply insert the sharp end of the tongue ( metal piece ) into the small hole in the middle of the buckle as shown in the photo, and store it back in place at the roof mounting point. Hope this tip helps those who are clueless on this matter. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Does anyone here adds Android TV stick(USB) to KIA GC? Want to make my KIA GC do Android Auto wireless. Currently Wiring Android Auto on Kia GC is sucking battery life instead of charging it. Especially when GPS is on. Without gps on, it drains slower, but still drains.
Any recommendations on Android TV stick you guys using. One is for convenience and another is to keep my phone battery. |

What are good tires for KIA GC? lately when driving on high speed, break will wobble the steering. its quite annoying and unpleasant.
Currently on Nexen tires, more than 1 year already. Budget range around 300 - 600 for a tire. |

From one existing owner :Currently on Nexen tires, more than 1 year already. Budget range around 300 - 600 for a tire. Quote " After over 2 years and 40,000 KM, the conditions of the Kumho Crugen tyres on my KGC are unsafe. " Unquote |

QUOTE(upcars @ Sep 23 2019, 04:03 PM) i plan to get 1 kx model early next month, went over to glenmarie kia showroom recently to meet with Mr Sham. nice chap. Hi did you get the Grand Carnival in the end? was wondering if anyone here changed their brake rotor to slotted or cross drilled ? where did u change ? also any nice coils to rekomen like eibach ? i just traded in my alphard not long ago to replace with this. test drove my friend's sx yesterday night. diesel fumes are ......well , normal la diesel car. but power wise quite decent, noise level also decent, cabin space also decent. overall i'm ok with this. quite tired of alphard, as is my 3rd alphard liao. sold for good price. overall, the diff between my alphard and this grand carnival is headroom. most visible diff. brakes in grand carnival are also very sharp. abit too sharp to my liking. not sure if full load on high speeds can stop. i gerenti alphard kenot thats why i changed my rotors and 4 pot caliper. also i change the coils to eiback to lessen bodyroll. that made the drive of the alphard much sharper. planning to do the same to my kia grand carnival when i receive the car maybe in october. anyone with any knowledge on cross/slotted disc and coils for grand carnival pls advice. other than that, all the other accessories i can get like tailgate motor and sidestep and etc etc. How's the feedback when compared to the Alphard? Was the Alphard a V6 variant? |

QUOTE(BillCollector @ Dec 13 2019, 02:01 AM) Sorry for this long explanation but it's worth reading through. These are my personal experience and should help others in easier decision.I am an owner of 2 generations of toyota alphard. 2005 model and 2012 model. I was very satisfied back in 2006 as the cabin space of the alphard was huge. BAck then purchased at 190k recon from japan, i was joyed in getting my 1st luxury mpv. It wasn't well equipped as i didnt have the budget to buy a high end fully equipped model. I also purchased the 8 seater version which was cheaper than the 7 seater version. The only grouse i had was the brakes was sloppy and the suspension was way too soft. there was so much body roll and at higher speeds it was having a mind of its own. It was a tall car standing strong at 1.9m and that made parking abit inaccesible. Sg wang, gm kl, megamall kuantan were strictly off limits. what made it all better was the amount of space in the cabin. After all, space is luxurious. Power wise, it was barely sufficient to carry a full load of 8 adults which was it's purpose. However, adults of senior levels could easily access entry and exit into the car. This made another great plus point. Fuel consumption made it a great huge dissapointment but hey, no electronics failure of any sort. No engine issues ever, no gearbox issues ever, fantastic throughout the entire ownership lifespan. Never broken down on me, just normal servicing which didnt even cost me a bomb. Then in 2014 i had to change as the car started to age. So i decided, why not another alphard. So this time in 2014, i bought the alphard with full specs instead. Sunroof, moonroof, dual audio systems with 16 speakers as standard, 7 seater with everything u could ever have in an alphard. damage ? 230k. Upon driving the first few rounds, again the brakes were sloppy but tad bit better than the 1st version, the suspension abit on the stiffer side which made driving easier. High speeds was also better as it didnt have a mind of its own. Less body roll, more sticky to the roads. The dual audio system was impressive as hell. One video up front, another at back. Linked or dedicated, u choose u get. This time i modified the brakes and suspension and i was indeed very happy. It handles well, brakes well on full load and power was still a tad bit on the barely sufficient side. Cabin space was smaller than the 1st version but av system made that all go away. Accessibility for senior citizens got easier as the car was slightly lower and i made it even lower by 2 inches. Perfect clearance space to get in and out of. Eibach does the job well indeed. Now after singing some praises, the shit part comes. The fuel consumption on this version was hell lot higher. i was clocking in 7.7km/l on a daily basis. fuel tank is smaller but i ran mileage that was close to living hell. Air conditioning on my unit wasn't top notch despite having changed everything and the biggest worry i had, was the stories i got about moonroof and sunroof water leaks. For years and years of opening and closing, i guess i was lucky not to encounter with any leaks. But it is worrying and is not a feeling that is pleasant. In 2019, i decided it was time for a change. I had a look at the 2018 alphard. It was small on the inside, heavy on the whole but boy was the gearbox and engine smooooooooth. There wasn't too much of a difference though until the price point came. 400k i was quoted. Shocked and angry, i decided it was time to leave the toyota shell i've been hiding in and explore something different. I warded off small mpv's such as elysion, serena. I also crossed off old mpv's such as elgrand and starex. I was looking at peugeot traveller which was a pretty looking car i saw in italy, the new vito which i saw in barcelona, and many few others even. Either these cars were inaccessible here or they would've costed me an arm and a leg which wasn't worthwhile anymore. So i popped by my friend's house 1 day sometime mid this year, and saw a grand carnival. I was like .....hey that's a good looking car man. Got the keys, took it for a spin and immediately gave it a ok sign. That, ladies and gentlemen is how i ended up with a Kia Grand Carnival. Now why i chose the Kia Grand Carnival 2019 was simply because at this price point of under 200k, i could finally own a brand new car with almost similar size to an alphard, with actual warranty and service dealerships all around msia. Power was sufficient and it is pretty wide in size. Some pros and cons i'd like to note are 1 - Power is definitely sufficient for a 2.2 diesel 2 - sound proofing is sufficient (not aged yet so would't know later on) 3 - power door controls are really thoughtful. u can pull the handle, press the button on the handle or press the button on the inside panel 4 - clearance height is good 5 - gearbox feels smooth and solid 6 - car at standard handles quite well on a full load 7 - car at high speeds doesnt wobble and doesnt give in too much body roll 8 - definitely fuel saving. 80 liters of diesel and managed 890km. 9 - awesome huge 80 liter diesel tank which requires less frequent visits to petrol station 10 - air conditioning is good, plenty of ducts for everyone 11 - fabric seats are always my loved point in every car. i like the fabric seats in grand carnival. i really do. 12 - i like how u can remove the center seat in the middle row or turn into cup holder hand rest. 13 - i also like how u lift the seat in center row to allow passengers to climb to the back 14 - i like the display panel which shows your wiper speed and even lights 15 - at this price point of under 200k, this is considered value for money, best bang for buck. but all good things still do come with bad stuffs 1 - the diesel engine still sounds like a diesel engine which is a real put off. it comes with the unavoidable diesel fumes as well. 2 - the steering looks like shit feels like shit and controls are highly ......unnecessary. 3 - the fixed boot space is my biggest complaint. its wasted space meant for collapsing the last row chair. 4 - av system is junk or at least close to junk so i'll just leave it as it is junk 5 - tints dont come as standard, privacy glass non existent 6 - parking sensor abit slow to react 7 - center console handrest is on the huge side and also unecessary 8 - eco mode does jack shit 9 - auto brakes are pure crap. but i do like how the auto brakes turn green and white on the dashboard though. 10 - height is too much for senior citizens to climb in and out of without a sidestep. and sidesteps are additional accessory which is pretty mandatory but not provided for. 11 - the big diesel trait of stepping on the pedal and having a huge white smoke trail behind u still exists. makes me feel like a lorry lol 12 - welcome lights are pure rubbish. small lights at the door handle doesnt mean its welcoming u when u cant see the floor from few steps away. 13 - the collapsing of the side mirrors are crazy. u go near it opens up, and stays open even if u didnt unlock the car. possessed side mirrors is what i'd like to call it 14 - dashboard top panel is huge dust collector. 15 - i'm yet to get android auto to work properly so i'll just leave this as part of #4. Well with that said, the comparison between a Kia Grand Carnival 2019 against a Alphard 2012 in a nutshell, the grand carnival gives u the best bang for buck. value for money. it is something that works and that's bout it. if u want a ego ride of luxury, wanna be seen as alpha male or alpha family, then alphard is definitely a winner on all sides. no contest here. the grand carnival wins on horsepower+torque, it also wins on pricing point and definitely fuel consumption. so yes, its more powerful, uses less fuel and costs alot less. i dont think it was ever portrayed to be a luxury mpv, just more of a get up and go thing. the alphard wins on luxury. cabin space, styling, tons and tons of accessories u might not even use or require. accessibility getting in and out is better on the alphard than in the grand carnival. they both get u to where u wanna go, but just that 1 does it in style and comfort while the other just gets u there. i speak from truth as i do own both. pic taken yesterday night and this morning. ![]() ![]() so to billcollector - the best thing about this car when compared to an alphard, is the price, the power and the simplicity of it. still carries 7-8 ppl, just that 1 does it in style and the other just brings u there. hope this helps u all in choosing an mpv. this is my thoughts as ownership of both vehicles and in no means referenced in any way by articles. |

QUOTE(upcars @ Dec 13 2019, 10:57 AM) Cons Thanks for the honest review. Some comments on the cons you have highlighted. 12 - welcome lights are pure rubbish. small lights at the door handle doesnt mean its welcoming u when u cant see the floor from few steps away. 13 - the collapsing of the side mirrors are crazy. u go near it opens up, and stays open even if u didnt unlock the car. possessed side mirrors is what i'd like to call it 12) You can turn off the welcome light under setting on your TFT screen, if you don't want it. 13) When the key fob is near, the side mirrors will unfold and stay open. If you move away from the car, the side mirrors will re-fold within 20-30 seconds once it is unable to detect the key. If you dislike this function, just press the button on the top right of your door panel to "manual " mode to let it stay open (or close) at all times. Addition 9 - auto brakes are pure crap. but i do like how the auto brakes turn green and white on the dashboard though. You must mean the Auto HOLD. The function of auto hold is that when you come to a stop, eg at a traffic light or on a slope, you can release the brake pedal and the car won't move until you step on the accelerator. As such you can relax your left leg a bit during traffic jam in particular. The other instance when AUTO Hold becomes handy is when you stop the car to retrieve a parking ticket or pay using Touch n Go. Often times one has to literary stretch out of the window and having to lift the foot off the brake pedal, especially drivers with short limbs. QUOTE(upcars @ Dec 13 2019, 10:57 AM) Sorry for this long explanation but it's worth reading through. These are my personal experience and should help others in easier decision. Thank you very much for taking the time to write out such a long and comprehensive ownership experience. We currently own a UM Sorento 2.2d and quite happy with it. However we decided to look for a large sized MPV as we have children aged 11, 6 and twin newborns on the way. One of the biggest drawbacks of the Sorento like many 7 seater SUV is it remains a 5+2 and it isn't conducive or all that convenient to be used permanently as a 7 seater vehicle. Chief issue is if you use the 2 rear seats then you have no space for anything else beyond a baby bag. Also not too convenient to get into the rear seats if the 2 outer seats has baby seats there. We were looking at a Vellfire (the one sold by UMW), an Estima and this Grand Carnival. We test drove several Estimas and decided we did not like it enough to put money down for it. Not had the chance to test drive the Vellfire and Grand Carnival yet. |

QUOTE(BillCollector @ Dec 13 2019, 04:01 PM) Thank you very much for taking the time to write out such a long and comprehensive ownership experience. estima was one of my first considerations as well. after driving it, i also found due to lack of headroom, moving kids in and out especially toddlers, prove to be quite a difficult task. umbrella strollers fit nicely standing in alphard/vellfire thus saving u more room and space for other necessity such as diaper bags and mats and toys. plus i hated dashboards smack in the middle of the car. Not had the chance to test drive the Vellfire and Grand Carnival yet. alphard and vellfire both are quite similar but alphard has more to offer and value wise stronger. between alphard and grand carnival, it is easier for family oriented man to be in alphard. because the rear seats are movable thus adjusting space allocation and storage space allocation, it is much more friendlier. the grand carnival has a fixed storage area where u can no longer choose to have more legroom or more storage space. it is dead fixed. because my children are of a higher age, i no longer need the travel with strollers so i do not really need the storage space - legroom adjustment. both vehicles suit me just fine. for u, with newborns on the way, better alphard. the adjustment between legroom and storage area is important. trust me, i have kids as well and newborn is not something u can compromise space allocation on. power wise i do not think is an important factor. u wont require high amounts of torque or horses with so many children in. time is more of the essence and finding a road with less traffic is utmost priority rather than getting there at high speeds sprint. my children can be annoying on longer drives at times so i know getting there without having traffic is much more important than being able to sprint on some parts and getting stuck with others on other parts. |

Yes, the 3rd row seats cannot adjust for leg room as it's fixed but its collapsible feature gives it versatility for storing big sized items or when transporting a bicycle, for instance. Other times, when the 3rd row seats are in use, the deep boot allow luggages to be stacked up vertically, something crucial for those long family holidays or balik kampung experience.
I suppose, each individual's need and preference is different, hence the car design may suit for some, and may not for others. BTW, the leg room for the 3rd row seats can be enlarged by sliding the 2nd row seats forward so that they are balanced out. Other times, when the 3rd row seats are unoccupied, the 2nd row seat can be pushed all the way back to maximize the leg room for 2nd row. ![]() This post has been edited by Buydirect: Dec 13 2019, 04:58 PM |

QUOTE(enqvistlim @ Dec 21 2019, 06:34 PM) KX 8 seater model is only for year make 2019. Stock is moving fast and once sold out, there will be no more. Next year by March , Naza will launch LX 11 seater, same specs as current KX , but expected selling price is higher at 175K . it will be fully imported CBU , instead of current SKD local assembly, hence the higher price tag due to the import tax. |

QUOTE(Smeagol @ Dec 24 2019, 03:08 PM) There will no more SX variant after this, once sold out (very very limited stock left in the market). Next year, there is only one model/variant which is the 11 seater LX, expected to be launched only in March at earliest. If you are planning to get SX, please buy now, you will thank me for my advice someday if you do. |

What's the year end promo right now for SX? Still got white color?
And, yea I agree an 11 seater LX trim , at a higher price than the current KX models would be meh. Maybe the grand starex would be more appealing to the buyers then due to price. The beauty of the 8 seats is that it strikes a good balance between seats and legroom and cargo carry ability -- unless the 11 seats can have a whole row removed as well to free up space -- but then cargo capacity would probably still be compromised. QUOTE(Smeagol @ Dec 26 2019, 02:44 PM) They come in as CBU with high import tax. Government no longer allows SKD or semi Knock Down assembly for current 8 seater variant of KX and SX. It is also not possible to bring in 8 Seater as CBU because once a particular model has entered our market as SKD or CKD, it cannot come in again as CBU. The only option for 8 seater to ever come in again is when there is an ALL New model or if it involves a change of engine type or fuel eg hybrid, petrol. |

Some photos on the interior of 11-seater from Thailand. Notice the 2nd and 3rd row center seats can be double folded to create a walking path for passenger access to the back row seats. Therefore, the 11 seater does not come with the lift up/push forward mechanism on the 2nd row seat like the 8-seater.
For the 11-seater, the last row seat is bench type, whereas the 8-seater comes with a 60:40 split folding, hence more flexible when it comes to choosing to accomodate a passenger or to store your belongings. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

QUOTE(widget @ Jul 15 2019, 03:57 PM) Any owners having issued that their stock Kumho tyres are easily blistered/bulged? Same problem here.My FIL 2018 Carnival only clocked about 20k but 2 months back we claimed 1 stock tyre from the distributor as we found a blister on the thread, instead of the usual sidewall. Recently we found another tyre had blisters too and we don't know if there is a problem with this batch of tyre |

QUOTE(anakayam @ Mar 16 2020, 08:00 PM) I'm using SXL version in Thailand. The last row is pretty much useless due to low bench and limited legroom. You can fit 3 kids if move the front rows but legroom will be compromised. 7 or 8 seats would be the best for this car, Thailand only sells 11seaters due to tax reason. |

In Malaysia, we had the 8 seater previously but is now discontinued and will be replaced by the 11 seater. |

It's not the same too if u don't want the 4th row. Existing seats will only have 6x 3-point seat belts.. 2nd and 3rd row middle seats are lap belt if not mistaken.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0i3rc8-fAk&t=331s 11 adults wont be comfortable in this car except for short trips. Yes, the down stream auto industry in Thailand is a big one, providing all sort of after-market support and solutions. Unfortunately, we don't have the same market support here in Malaysia.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0i3rc8-fAk&t=331s 11 adults wont be comfortable in this car except for short trips. QUOTE(simonwai @ Jun 16 2020, 12:27 PM) For Carnival , there is no SST waiver, because this Multi-Flexi 6/7/8/11 seater is considered as a commercial vehicle, hence it does not qualify. However, Naza Kia is subsidizing the SST waiver with extra RM 5000 discount (being 50% of the 10% sales tax, under CBU import unit). In addition, there is now Free RM3000 worth of accessories for Early Bird first 100 buyers nationwide. It is a very good deal.![]() |

Wang Loo advised to bring back the car to KL for new engine replacement or major repair, so it can be urgently monitored/followed up by NAZA KIA HQ. Tomorrow 19.6.2020 the car will be towing back to KIA authorised service center i.e RAZA motor@ Setapak KL since it’s nearby my house. I myself have to find the tow truck and fork out my own money to tow the car back to KL which is nonsense since it’s not my fault at all. KIA should have arranged this NOT me. Upon checking engine oil/radiator’s water everything is ok. No idea why it suddenly stalled. I called KIA assist to no avail, the customer service just said it will take time sending tow truck, and i waited for hours with no call from KIA assist. Luckily, I managed to get my insurance’s tow truck assistance. Sucks to KIA assist. Now my car has arrived at Wang Loo KIA Sdn BHd @ Lot 2554, Jalan Raya Saleng, 81400 Senai, Johor. I need you to follow up with Wang Loo to ensure everything is checked thoroughly to avoid this ‘mishap’. And I need assurance from KIA that the same problem would never happen again. I’ll not resort to legal action unless I have to. This car’s mileage is only 9946 Km & servicing as per schedule. Please keep me updated on your findings for this problem. Thank you Raja Ahmad Shukri |

![]() Customized floor railing for sliding seats of KGC LX Multi-Flex Seat Extended railing for 3rd row seat (4th row removed). This gives flexibility to add more leg room when required, or when carrying luggage and stuff, the boot space can be extended by pushing the seats forward. Unfortunately, at this moment in time, this customization is only available in Thailand and not in Malaysia yet. Maybe a local installer can do the same in the future. |

hi guys, my carnival is less than a year, and that day, i went to kampung area which the road was small and many corners....syok..... But, when i went back home, there were a huge rattling noise pop out.
i sent the car to service center, and they feedback that it's the door rubber rubbing sound, and KL HQ informed them that to apply some kind of spray onto it. after spraying, then the noise was gone. did anyone has this kind of rattling issue? ok, its close to a year of ownership of the kia grand carnival for me. so here are my 2 cents.
btw i still rotate between the alphard and this, letting my alphard go soon for a better upgrade. this carnival of mine , i recently managed to clock in 910km mileage on a single tank. journey begins from kelana jaya , 6 ppl + 6 small luggages , to jb legoland, went around skudai , senai, town blah blah blah and back to kelana jaya on a single tank of euro 5. following speed limits and sometimes below (due to senior citizens and children in the vehicle). normal driving i wont be able to clock this much mileage. usually hover around the 700km region. i have a few noises in the car, most likely from power door . will get them to check on my next service. rattling noises not wind noises. beige interior is great to look at, not suitable for family with children who like marker pens and crayons. so i gotta send mine in to some auto detailer to remove some marks later in the month. everything seems jolly for now except for some rattling noises from the power door. no electrical faults yet, no power window failures, no engine failures, no gearbox failures, none of that sort has kicked in yet. it's still less than a year (but closing in on a year) of ownership. maybe too early to tell now. between this and my alphard, u have shit tons of headroom difference. the folding seats on my alphard are more practical for my usage. u can stand a stroller and that takes up a whole lot less floor space neede for other necessities. the collapsing seats on a kia just doesnt cut it. i still ferry my mountain bikes to my destination using my alphard. it's all just much easier. for those who don't have big tall things to carry or lug around (depending on your hobbies), the kia is sufficient. u can lay a bike down on the carnival, but to stack another mountain bike on top of it doesnt even make sense. on an alphard, u can park the bikes side by side and still fit in 3-4 bikes. this arguement can go on and on and on, however as an avid biker and a owner of both vehicles, it is alot easier on an alphard. earlier i mentioned about distance, yes i do get a lot more mileage on a diesel kia. it makes it convinient and easier on my pockets than my gas guzzling alphard. this the kia definitely scores a point. diesel fumes are common in my workplace so it doesnt really bother me. mileage is definitely a plus here for the kia. now the important bit i'd like to add, if u are in a junction with no traffic lights and with slightly heavy traffic, u need to get out of the junction fast, pass the speeding oncoming cars, one would definitely choose N/A than turbo charged cars for immediate torque. this is the alphard's winning point. being a N/A, even with full load, u can hit on the accelerator and off u go; out of the junction. with a full load on a kia, its just NOT possible. the weight this chubby guy has on the same full load and a slight delay in turbo and gear change, NO NO NO. my verdict still remains the same as earlier for the rest in my previous post. the kia gets u there, wins the mileage award, and gets u back. the alphard gets u there in style, shits in your wallet, and gets u back as refreshed as u just left. any other info u guys need for a comparison, let me know. |

QUOTE(Buydirect @ Aug 29 2020, 01:11 PM) This is very surprising as KGC has very high torque of 440 Nm and is known to have great pick-up. So far, a lot of users' feedbacks are quite the opposite, acceleration from standstill is great, in spite of its sheer size and weight. Maybe your Alphard is better in that department, but KGC is no sluggard. Maybe he set to Eco mode on his KGC. Or he talked about throttle response lag, which can happen on some car due to the transmission tuning. |

QUOTE(fong928 @ Jul 29 2020, 09:40 AM) hi guys, my carnival is less than a year, and that day, i went to kampung area which the road was small and many corners....syok..... But, when i went back home, there were a huge rattling noise pop out. This quite a common problem. I guess they sprayed some grease/lubricant for electric door. i sent the car to service center, and they feedback that it's the door rubber rubbing sound, and KL HQ informed them that to apply some kind of spray onto it. after spraying, then the noise was gone. did anyone has this kind of rattling issue? Some had their door motor replaced. |

QUOTE(boyan @ Mar 10 2019, 07:18 PM) Yes, I recently went for my 20K servicing, and was offered the spring replacement. Took it (was free / under warranty still) and I don't feel that pull to the left anymore. I did it at Red Cube Rawang. A bit far maybe, but quiet and not many appointments (hence the available stock, I guess). Just bring something to munch in case you're planning to stay and wait for the whole thing. |

Thanks for your approval. Yes, it makes a world of difference for passenger seating comfort , especially for adults on a long journey. All incoming stocks from Korea based on LX spec are without headrest, unfortunately. Hence this special upgrade is almost a "must have" |

Previous 8 seater SX model used to come with the rear entertainment headrest monitors as standard. However, the new Multi-Flex LX 6/7/8/11 seater is no longer being offered the same, albeit priced lower compared to the SX.
It is now possible to add on these monitors, on after-market basis as shown in the photos below: Rear entertainment system upgrade for Kia Grand Carnival. Android auto 10.1 inch touch screen. USB MP4 MP5 MKV SD Headrest monitors resolution 1280*RGB*800 (New IPS full view display) Wifi & bluetooth function ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Uh just curious.. what's the appropriate tyre pressure for the 19-inch tyres.
On the driver side door there's a note that recommends 240 kPa, but after sending my car recently to KIA service centre and trying to pump again after a month I realized they pumped up to 280. |

You should always follow the recommended tyre pressure. 280 KPa is definitely too high, and it's meant for storage purpose only eg when car is parked for a long time and not in used.On the driver side door there's a note that recommends 240 kPa, but after sending my car recently to KIA service centre and trying to pump again after a month I realized they pumped up to 280. |

It is now possible to upgrade the stock head unit with 360 degree 3D camera with canbus interphase and maintain the awesome feature of Android auto and Apple Carplay for the Kia Grand Carnival multiflex 6/7/8/11 seater. Check out the photos below.
Many other camera system are not compatible with the original head unit display and require the unit to be changed completely. ![]() ![]() |

For 11 seater owners, what if you can remove the center seat on 2nd row to create a walking aisle, instead of having to double-flip the middle seats upright. Below is a photoshop image of what is possible but of course, you can always retain the middle seat on the 3rd row and only remove that of the 2nd row to create a 7-seater with plenty of room. Some protruding brackets have been erased in this photoshop, and replaced with a metal cover to conceal the hole at the base of the seat. What do you think?

Kia Motors Corporation plans to make Malaysia the regional manufacturing hub for the Kia vehicles in Asean and other potential markets.
Kia Asia Pacific president and chief executive officer Ted Lee said the South Korean carmaker had recognised the vast potential Malaysia would bring. Kia had found it timely to raise the bar to progressively tap into Malaysia's potential, Lee said at the signing of a joint venture agreement with Bermaz Auto Bhd (BAuto) to form Kia Malaysia Sdn Bhd here today. For a start, Kia Malaysia will undertake the assembly of completely knocked down (CKD) of three Kia vehicles. The first two models - Kia Seltos and Kia Carnival - are expected to be produced locally within 12-18 months. The third model will be determined at a later stage. Kia is the second largest carmaker in South Korea, and together with parent Hyundai Motor Group, is the world's fifth largest automotive manufacturer. On the potential investment into the CKD operation, Yeoh said it would take about US$20 million to set up the production line of a product. He also said that Kia Malaysia would help address the after sales issues faced by Kia owners under the previous distributor. Kia has appointed BAuto's subsidiary Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd as the new distributor of its vehicles in Malaysia. As the new distributor, Dinamikjaya holds the right to distribute and sell Kia vehicles, CKD and completely built up (CBU), sale of genuine parts as well as in the provision of after-sales service and to build Kia's brand reputation and awareness in Malaysia. Elaborating on the new partnership, Lee said Kia had chosen BAuto after months of searching for the right partner. "With BAuto's proven capability in successfully building up automotive marques in Malaysia and the Philippines as well as their automotive manufacturing experience, we believe we have placed the Kia brand in good hands under the capable leadership of its." Tae said BAuto was a renowned listed automotive company in Malaysia with a strong management team and good track record. Yeoh said Kia vehicles were well-known for their stylish looks, packed with smart features, frequent facelifts and new launches that keep prospective buyers excited over its products. "The partnership will complement our existing automotive businesses and we look forward to a successful collaboration with Kia," added Yeoh |

QUOTE(cwteoh1 @ Mar 15 2022, 08:28 AM) Greeting This was due to an error in the system by JPJ and Royal custom that happened back in 2017. The dealer which sold the car, should have done the correction with JPJ back then and re-print the registration card, but it seems like they didn't do it.got this problem need help on it as brought this Grand Carnival back in year 2017 CBU unit and the vehicle grant got this clause on it can any sifu faced this problem before and how to settle it if want to sell the car see the photo You need to take the original grant to JPJ and get them to look into it. The matter should have been resolved in the system already, and if so, when you reprint a new grant , it should not reappear. Sometime ago, one potential buyer of an old Kia Carnival also faced this issue, and I was told that he managed to get it resolved. |

Hi. Bought my grand carnival 2 yrs ago. The basic variant but upgraded to leather seats and power tailgate (don’t really like the twin passenger lcds).
anyway I sent my car for service and the sensors (abs, etc) keep popping up red in the dashboard . Service center say the sensor is sensitive and need to replace. Nothing wrong with the car. Also the r parking brake sensor sometimes pops up and I have to restart the car to get the error msg disappear. Been waiting for months and the last time I called they say parts in the port but govt don’t allow to release or something. Is this really the problem with Kia cars? Difficult to get basic parts? I really like the car but after 2 yrs it’s starting to leave a sour taste for me because of this irritating issue. Anyone have any idea how to go about this or a workshop to recommend fixing this? My car still under warranty. |

Most likely it is the ABS sensor, which is a common issue with the Carnival YP. Some customers who do not want to wait simply source for the sensor outside, instead of waiting. Think the service centers can assist you to that regard. anyway I sent my car for service and the sensors (abs, etc) keep popping up red in the dashboard . |
