Same. My phone super lag again after 12 hours. Turn off Google app just slower the memory consuming, the main culprit still probably is memory leak.
When the time super lag, i check the ram usage again. It has 0 free ram, and system won't release free ram again.
I restart the phone, and system slowly release the ram. Around 10mb ram per secs, until the usage drop to 1.7gb ram again. Phone is super smooth again, and the ram is slowly go up again.

Always is android os 1.2gb.
But currently main issue is 0 free ram. Android won't suck all the ram till 0. The memory management fail to work.
When my phone has 10% free ram. The phone always stable and smooth.

The lag made it to Taiwan headlines lol. Some sleeping CS still asking you format and reinstall the phone. Obviously it is a serious issue, but some still treat it as individual case.

After disable google app, i disable movie creator too. Performance is better again but not sure how long it can go.

BTW, the lag issue is heating in XDA forum too. But still no response from sony.

After disable movie creator, 30 hours of using and without a restart, the phone is still smooth. No more weird and random lag, and phone heat without a reason.
So far, everything is back to normal for my case. And first time, i can say the XZ is faster and smoother than my old Z3.

Ram usage stay at 2.5gb, and free ram always 10-20%. No more suck ram under 50mb free ram.

So far, i am satisfying this time.

As i say before, Android is not Windows. Android keep cache in ram, for faster response and battery saver.
Android is controlled by memory management.
Of course, sometimes when heavy tasking, it will delayed few secs because the system is clearing unused ram. It is normal.

Try do not clear ram, and turn off smart cleaner. You will feel the different.

BTW, after disabled movie creator, my phone no longer happen some serious lag. But the phone is only smooth for 3 days. The 4-5 days, the phone is started for some slowness, switching app need somentimes to redraw.
Stability still not really match with my z3, even 15 days+ without restart.

Restart few days is not a problem, and also reasonable for me. But my logic is, a new upgrade should better than before. If not then this is a downgrade. Why i have to spend almost 3k to buy a worse phone than before >.>
I am 13 years of sony (ericsson) user and fans. First time feel regret to buy sony phone.

Our hardware & software support voLTE. But the setting is not. Inside the system, there are some .mdn files, it is the modem config file. Our carrier/telco is not yet pushing this config file to OEM/phone maker. So our phone won't able to connect voLTE. If your phone has root, i know how to switch the modem file. You can try to switch it to some universal / nearest telco setting to enable it, but no guarantee.

Below is the example, you can see the config file name as singtel, this is why singtel able to use voLTE with XZ.

It is up now.

Zram is back, and lower ram consumption. Hopefully it solves the lag issue permanently.

The ram usage is same as previous nougat version. But the smoothness is there like android 6.
I guess the ram management is fixed. I love this feeling now because it match with my z3 finally.

Is it our XZ already discontinued product lol?
Do not see it on the latest sony brochure anymore.
So sick with sony 1 year 4 flagship become jump ship.

Will never pre order sony phone again. Rather wait 6 months to outdate and save another rm300-500.

Won't buy their latest flagship anymore. Save my wallet better.

Z5P and X are still selling.
I know business need to move forward, but too fast. Fast until Sony didn't value their old/loyalty customer.
I don't mind Sony has 100 flagships per year, but it must something like A, B, C, D or E. Not A1, A2, A3, A4, and A5 in a very short period.
Just like you bought a new Honda City 1.5, two months later, if Honda release new Civic, i guess you won't feel pissed. Because it is not a same segment to compare. But if Honda release a new City 1.8 in 2 months, and only RM2000 more expensive, i guess you will. And worse, they stop selling the 1.5 version and gave RM5000 discount.

Of course, i am happy with XZ. But flagship should be premium.

Maybe sony want to clear remain stock only.
Its direct successor xzs & xz1 kill it, not to mention its premium series xzp & rumour coming xz1p.
If sony don't stop half year cycle + 1 year 4 flagships method, this history will happen again.
No point buying latest flagship since it has 50% discount after 1 year.

Probably Sony / distributor want to clean the stock, since Directd is one of the biggest seller, they can offered a very competitive price.
For my opinion, XZ/XZs is a very failed project after Xperia S/SL. Both projects were sharing the same design, probably 98% same thing, except some small hardware/chipset.
The 2% different made no advantage for Sony to sell it at higher price, only able to replace its predecessor. It is just embarrassing.
If i were Sony, i definitely won't allow this happen. I will either keep XZs technology (small motion camera) to next generation. So the XZ1 can sell at RM2899 while outdated XZ can stay at RM2000-2300.
Or i will discontinued the XZ, and totally replaced by XZs. And not to pissed the customers, i will allow all XZ users exchange their phone to XZs for free, or a very minimal cost like RM100~ for transporting/handling fee.
Wasting resources to develop XZs, i rather save the cost, and release some special edition XZ, like more colours of choices. Just like many of us choosing XZ because the special forest blue colour.
But what did Sony do now, is pissing their loyalty customers. Sony (Ericsson) was the top brands, but now not even in top 10 list to compete with some chinese OEM. Sony is not able to compete with other in price and spec. They have a niche market, which mainly loyal customers and supporter who loves Sony unique trademark & technology. But these actions are blowing away this small group of customers too.

1399, i didn't think much and bought it.
I was thinking to buy xzs for my gf, but no point to pay rm1000 for extra 1gb ram + better camera.
Luckily i didn't buy last weekend, if not i really pissed again.
