Please see the screen shot below. I using Nikon DSLR to capture, both monitor and camera had been vertical and horizontal aligned with bubble level meter. Please note that i purposely adjust the camera to be slightly out of focus to blur the image a bit, if not the banding will affect the image outcome.

Grey
You can see the 1/3 of the left side is noticeable warmer/yellowish than the rest


White
Again the same area.


Mix(gmail) with grey and white strip. This is most noticeable in this situation as you can see the 1/3 of the left side colour significant different with center and right.


I can't ensure you will see this photo on ur screen because you need a reasonable good monitor display to spot tge different. I using my Samsung Galaxy S7 edge to view it and it is close to what i saw by my eye. My i1display pro colorimeter shown 500k temperature different across the left side and right side, which is tally with what i saw.

Please let me know what should i do. There are alot of similar complain worldwide and some of them even RMA 3-4 times before they get their 'golden' unit, u can find them easily by typing asus PG279Q yellow tint in google, it will lead you to the Asus ROG forum.

Guys, exchanged my PG279Q yesterday and guess what, same left side yellow tint problem on this new unit, panel manufacturing date same July 2017 as previous returned unit.







Measured using i1display Pro colorimeter reveal the exact truth that seen by my eye





I'm going to return the 2nd unit and this time ask for refund, the shop understood and approved my request. This is a joke consider how expensive the panel was.

Know what, until now no reply by the so call 'Asus Malaysia technical support' in this thread, is a completely joke and you definitely loss ur potential customer here.

Sorry for the late reply, I understand what you going through and I believe you have googled all about the PG279Q. ASUS have released a statement regarding the PG279Q backlight on the IPS panel back in 2016.

Since then ASUS are improving the monitor especially the gaming monitor with high refresh rate using IPS panel.

My main issue here is not the backlight bleed or glow, this 2 i can live with it because the effect on real world application is minimal, i do not have these issues in both the unit.

The main issue is the yellow tint, aka white point uniformity of the screen is damn poor. It causing a half yellow half white during browsing or in desktop mode with white/gray background.

Anyway thanks for your reply and today i successfully returned and get it refunded as well.

OMG the inconsistent is very obvious. Can't believe a RM 4K display is like this. By the way congratulate you get refund on this.

I just type "PG279Q Issue" at YouTube and it is plenty of it, they is even a person test total of 20 units of it and the backlight bleeding is very bad. OMG! I just cannot believe it. Beside your face issue of inconsistency of white balance temperature, this monitor also with heavily bad backlight bleeding. I know all IPS panel will have backlight bleeding issue but this model is somehow bleeding too much already.

Sometimes I really don't understand the company thinking, such display is better don't release to market. This is very obvious left side is more yellowish than right side.

I had seen mobile AMOLED having such issue before, but this is my 1st time seen IPS display having such issue as well.

Thanks for the compliment, i thought i'm too picky on this issue but it.seems obvious to you too.

I understood nothing is perfect in this world, and this monitor is aim for 'gaming' as it named, but doesn't mean it could be that sucks in browsing or regular work in desktop. I tried to convince myself to accept this becos i don have time to do all this kind of time wasted RMA, but hey once i wake up in the morning my 1st mind was i bought a premium panel with hefty price and give me such shitty quality...so end up return it.

I can accept some white balance runs off on the entire screen, provided it perceived 'balance' on the entire screen, not this kind of half-half shit...and this is my 1st time buying such expensive monitor, even my 60'' 1080p TV bought 3 years ago was cheaper than this, but hey that one at least don't gave such headache.

I had exchanged my Samsung Galaxy S4 before, discovered red tint half the bottom screen (yes, imbalance stupid tint again) right after i unpack at home...i always lost in panel lottery.

Ya me also. I am not that picky also, slight is ok but unbalance in half half I also cannot take.

So far the only AMOLED I get got such issue is Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 which I exchange after few days using it. That one is having a big red tint.

So now you going to buy what monitor? Just curious. Haha

Of course understand how frustrated you are.
Taking photo on Monitor the color and brightness can't be justify, as you know the shutter open up and absorb lights, therefore the color of the picture are not exactly what we see.

To be fair, if you looking for something high color accuracy, you may go for those designer model, in ASUS you should go for their ProArt series, or Dell UltraSharp Monitors series.

Yes you are right, in fact the perceived yellow tint is worse than what
It shown in the photo. I can clearly see half of the grey out email were with yellow tint while the right half with 'normal' grey. The yellow tint also causing the lowyat forum light blue background become light green at the left half. The perceived white balance is distracting when the same colour across the horizon from left to right.

As i mentioned, good in gaming is not means it can be sucks in non gaming. This is my reason i can't accept that.

I received the 1st monitor on last Tuesday, exchange once and returned eventually yesterday where the whole process was less than a.week. Can't say the customer.service is bad. But the credit go to the shop that i purchase, not Asus Malaysia.

I don't know, impressed by the G-Sync, high refresh rate and good colour of IPS, which don't have much choices now at the moment except Acer and Viewsonic which using the same panel from AUO as well. If not the yellow tint issue i woould have very happy now. But survey shown Viewsonic had better QC overall, let see how.

How about LG Ultrawide. For example this one. http://www.lg.com/my/monitors/lg-34UC98-W but only Freesync. G-Sync a bit difficult to get as LG Malaysia officially didn't sell G-Sync edition.

I didn't use this but a Ultrawide 1080p only as my laptop will be a burden on games if using Ultrawide 1440p or 1600p.

Mine - http://www.lg.com/my/monitors/lg-34UC79G-B it do have slight backlight bleeding but the color is very constants and awesome. Previously I only own ViewSonic VX3209-2K which is a great IPS panel, but this LG panel is another level and freaking awesome.

With 144hz, most games is no need any sync. I only manage run at 95hz as my laptop Nvidia 970m only have HDMI. Now most my games no need turn on Vsync and no tearing issue.

For me LG panel is better than AUO and Dell always use LG or Samsung panel.

1st unit H7LMQS093055, 2nd unit i don't even care to look at it as i know i will get it refund. Both manufacturing date code July 2017, from Brightstar Lowyat Plaza.

I still love 16:9 aspect ratio, and ultra wide 1440p will have unneccesary burden on my rig. 2560*1440 just good enough for my GTX1080 with decent framerate.

GTX 1080 won't have burden in 3440x1440.

After I use Ultrawide, they is no go back to wide. Too awesome already.

I got my NON ASUS 165Hz G-Sync IPS gaming monitor today.

Let's see the white uniformity.

Damn good compare to Asus. Although the surrouding is warmer than center point, but is within 200k hence perceived balance.

IPS technology + high frame rate + GSync + quick response time will have these issues. The yellow tinting is actually a result of BLB and if you apply slight pressure on the back of the monitor, you will see it reduces.

The ROG Swift series has way too many technologies embedded inside it and it's known to have these "imperfections". Even Acer Predator has it too. So does some AOC displays.

But this is purely "luck". As you can see in the article, after opening up so many displays, it's not a "uniform" problem. You don't want to risk this? Two things:

1. Test the panel before making the payment. That is, if the dealer allows it considering this is an expensive hardware
2. Settle with TN or less featured IPS panels. You can't get the best of everything.
