not really, i judge the action, not the person
*
there is NOTHING wrong with the action.
if there is anything or anyone to blame, SC should be the one and sole party to blame, not the pity cust that not able to reach human CS

I think it's been decided by senior officials. I don't think such a huge bank will overlook such decisions.
*
i think quite likely is their HQ decision.

as we see more and more foreign bank started selling their consumer operations here or downsizing and cutting operation cost.

just that this bank do it till the max and disbanded all human CS for daily non emergency banking operations.

most probably this market is simply too small for them to spend their resources on.

after all, i think well managed local bank (P bank for eg) are still the most reliable choice for us to rely on.

Exactly! And probably their CC is a loss making business, i.e. cashback costs them more than interests.
*
Yup..

still rmb the good old days.

where LFC (CB Plat back then) and JOP 2 cards alone can get us more than RM85+RM50, >RM100 monthly cash back tongue.gif tongue.gif

so if I want to apply for SC card for the RinggitPlus cashback, I can cancel after 6 months? without any penalty?

I dont mind to use for 2nd year if service + cashback is good, but will not use CC that wont waive fee.

My case, it passed the 1 year mark and i was billed already. Best to cancel before touching 1 year.  biggrin.gif

tell them you will cancel the card if not waive.
AF is relatively easier to waive compared to SST rebate

Not much choice you got. You need to justify yourself is 50% off worth for you to keep the card.

most of us here won't take it for 50% off AF i guess tongue.gif tongue.gif

How did you submit the request?

The website seems mostly seems the same as the outdated app and only has a request for annual fee waiver.

The hotline is always busy and I even went to a branch to ask about the waiver and they said it was not possible lol
*
SST is charge by gov so noone, including bank can waive it

seemed like they deliberately not to give AF waiver this round.
in line with their increase of min annual salary to b eligible for their credit card to b 96k.

Simply Cash totally removal of E-wallet cash back.
Left CB for Grocery Dining and Petrol only .

1st increase min Monthly salary to 8k.
And make it difficult to waive AF.
Nw cut CB benefits.

I think we can hav a club on their eventual decision and plan on Malaysia market

unfortunate the new revised benefit and higher entry requirement for cards made SCB no longer attractive.
SCB goal for global markets is to focus affluent customer. Same across other markets.
*
yes i also think all these actions are their calculated move.
whether correct or not, only time will tell.

eventually, still local banks offering more reliable cc benefits

QUOTE(TongCN @ Mar 11 2025, 01:15 PM)
So simply cash back still can top up e-wallet to get the retail transaction to RM2,500 criteria except no more online cash back anymore.

Consider still can beside no more free RM20 / month now.

Liverpool upgrade with downgrade also
Before: 0.5% cash back capped RM50 / month
After: 2% cash back capped RM20 / month

0.2%, not 2% hmm.gif

Long time not worth it di, surprised still got people hold on to this card.

If you're okay with 2.5k spend per month, go for RHB Shell (ewallet still eligible) for RM50-RM100 cashback per month or Affin Duo Cashback for RM50 (assuming you spend > RM3050 per month, or you could just use the balance transfer 'trick' for both RHB and Affin to reduce necessary spend).

Maybank Islamic Ikhwan Amex Plat
8% cb, the best in town so far.
Maybank 2 cards Amex
5% cb weekend.

UOB Evol 5% cb

No, because that balance isn't card balance until you claim it and they block claiming except in multiples of 30. Yet another way for SCB to whack customers, last few years non stop this sort of thing, surprised still got people use their cards.
*
totally agreed.
min amt 30 and somemore need to be in multiple of exact 30, no more no less doh.gif doh.gif

imagine if you miscount and only gotten, say RM59.xx, you are only able to redeem RM30 that month doh.gif doh.gif

i cancelled my card since they implement this kind of funny t&c.
most other bank cb is straightforward and credit directly into your statement, only thing differ is some bank direct deduct cb from current statement balance while some deduct in next statement balance.

but no 1 single bank having this kind of hassle to claim cb.

Do retention team giv u a call?
*
initial few round yes, offering RM50/RM100 cb on X times spend.
it's a girl and she can even recognize me and say
Mr xxx, you want to cancel the cc again, and she tell me its the same offer as last round and so i gladly accepted it. whistling.gif

but no call on the final round where i terminated all my sc cards.
could be the entire team disbanded already? hmm.gif

Huh..I guess they are planning to exit MY market. The new CB structure wasn’t even appealing and they want to charge AF for it..time to cut off and move on..
*
this is the only reasonable argument why they are doing all sorts of things.

from raising annual salary to RM96k, and then refuse to waive AF and cut back on rebate.

seldom see SC credit card promoter nowadays

problem, i tot it waive.. cos my wife card Simply Cash is 100% waive but mine they didnt..
they apply 2 standard on the card holder..  those get cash reward during sign up will not get waive...
not i aware until i get charge.. damm.... i hv to hold for 3 years now as my Solar EPP is under this SCB card...
i should hv use my UOB or RHB.. damm regret..
not worth to spend hundred of K on SCB... worthless card ranting.gif  ranting.gif  ranting.gif
*
this is the main point why they refuse to waive AF for you.
they know very well that
you are forced to stay with them even they refuse to waive AF.

i think even early settlement of EPP, they will charges some early settlement charges too...

so no choice,
but you can try call their CS and ask to get some of their so called BT plan for min amount and min tenure , with that, they would able to offer AF waiver.

as well as the interest charge for the BT plan is lower than AF, then go for it.

They even revised the income requirement for their cards, I guess it is just a matter of time they may close down their credit card department here in Malaysia, like what happened to Citibank. sweat.gif

very likely to happen
