thanks for considering me to be the trainer but i have to decline la. ours is showring training. i dont do attack work. i am into showline only. fascinating type. as for dr jay, i never hear before this guy. what breed is he in?? as for dog i also suggest to get 1 year and above dog. this is because we can see the potential and also suitability for showring. the price is a little more expensive because 1 years plus is usually holdback from the breeder. as for puppy, this is like gambling. you dont know what they will look like when they grow up. puppy changes a lot. for me i import only semi adult because we can see the potential then. puppy is too much risk for us. go youtube.com and check on germany sieger show. and you will understand showring  better.

ah chuan.

puppy is good and cute and also will bond with you. but semi adult ( 9-12 ) months also will bond very fast. no problem at all. i like 1 year and above because you dont have the risk of parvo, sickness and etc like puppies. and you can see the actual type when buying 1 year old. for example the ears will be up, the bite is right, the color is right and etc.
*
i know what u mean..but to get a semi adult or rottie/gsd in malaysia is not easy and might not be cheap!
that's wat makes me rclxub.gif
Dr Jay.. he is a VET but do train dogs for ppl.. mostly GSD he trained..
he move around malaysia and currently at pahang.. he r the one that supply and train JB sultan dogs..
he suggested me to get an adult dog which is ready to work.. like gsd, but could cost me Rm18k! sweat.gif sweat.gif
which i dont think my dad will invest so much on it..
that is why.. im actually blurr and dont know wat to do..
i wanted to get a gsd but does not know any good/responsible breeder around..
and at the moment.. most likely i will go for rottie which i found Atos (malaysia champ) son the mother is also malaysia champ and both imported.. and the puppy cost me Rm3k sweat.gif sweat.gif doh.gif

My 3 months++ pup GSD named Cherry.

user posted image

I bought it from a reputable breeder in Klang.

Just did vacination and deworming.

I noticed that the vet gave Caniverm (from bioveta) and i did some reading online...

http://www.bioveta.cz/en/veterinary-divisi...-tbl-ad-us.html

I noticed that it only covers roundworm & tapeworm, but not heartworm.

The last 2 deworming was using Caniverm too, now I'm really worried as my pup is vulnerable to heartworm.

Thinking of the following option ...

1. Resend to vet and ask them to feed HeartGard (don't know if double deworming is allowed, recent one was on 20/7/2009)
2. Wait till next month and start to feed HeartGard (hopefully my pup is not infected before )

Really appreciate if you guys can advice me on this.

btw.. 1 thing i did notice is.. gsd looks a lil sweat.gif sweat.gif when they r young..
it will look good when they reach about 1~2 years old.. ritE?? doh.gif

Hi,

Nice to have someone new in this thread. welcome....i dont think i will try to give you an answer. Cause i am no expert la. But deworming is not for heartworm. Deworming is only for tape worms and etc. heart worm and a few more virus you need heartgard. Totally diff usage. But please see other vets if still unsure.  As for the Klang breeder, what is the name and also who is the parents? share share ma. lol

Yeah she's a working line GSD, hopefully one day she can grow up to be a good guard dog.

Yep you guessed right, will be sending back to Nathan for guard dog training.

She's in the middle of obedience training now.

I got her a 'Ruffian' tough rubber squeaky ball for her to play while alone in the bathroom.

Did a trial today, she's does make some whinning sound at first, but after that is mostly 'squeaky' sound ...hhaha

Guess that kept her occupied.

Oh ya... to those GSD pup owners out there, it's crucial to know that ...

Heartworm lifecycle
1. Pup may get infected by heartworm through mosquito bite
2. The larvae matures after 6 months into heartworm and will latched to the pup's heart
3. Worm will continue to breed within host (female is 30cm in length, male is 20++cm)
4. Mosquito that bite host can retransmit larvae to a new host

Preventive Measure
1. If your puppy is below 6 months old and above 6 weeks old, you can administer monthly heartworm medication. This will kill immature larvae while it's in vulnerable state & continue to give protection up to 30 days.
2. If your puppy is above 6 months old and never had a single heartworm medication, please seek vet's aid to perform blood check. Monthly heartworm medication is ineffective to mature worms. Vet will know how to deal with this situation, i guess.

Hope this helps...!

She's reaching 4 months old now and I didn't know that minimum age for training is 6/9 months.

I sent her to a 'macha' (brother in tamil) recommended by Nathan, he taught her real well and she picks up pretty well.

Currently she's able to ...
1. Sit
2. Down
3. Recall
4. Stay
5. Down + Stay
6. Down + Stay + Distraction
7. Up
8. Pawshake

Will post up some videos in youtube soon, really proud of her.
Sorry I don't know the price for that, but you can call up your nearby vet to inquire.

post up some video!! rclxms.gif rclxms.gif would love to see how u command ur dog..

btw i finally made my decision on getting rottie.. but will not give up on gsd.. in the future.. i will get them! rclxms.gif

this is the melaka show. this is all candid shots so not so nice. forgive my lousy camera too. lol. my female not there because on heat. lol.

enjoy. next round i post up germans dog. sorry ar, trying to poison those new gsd ppl. haahaha.
*
ur female on heat? planning to sell?? let me know..
btw. 1 thing that bother me on getting gsd is.. their look when they r young.. they will look mature when they go above 1.5years?
and not to offence on the pic above.. those gsd r the same gsd? and how old r they?
the bottom left pic is the one i find ok for a gsd.. others r alil too skinny?
thats why if u got a gsd that's not a quality breed.. i think their looks can go doh.gif

im sorry if i offended anyone.. but that's my opinion

Hi,

ahahaahha. dont worry. these are all not the same dogs. i think the ages varies from 9 months to 4  + here. in the top left, the gsd male is dropping lots of hair ( seasonal) that is why look like that lol. all types of breed need 1 year at least to be fully mature not only gsd. only after that time , you can see the true potential. so when you go buy a puppy at 2 months old and the breeder tell you this will be a champion, you better slap him la. almost impossible to be 100% correct on how they might look. but to expert eyes only la. i bet all gsd look almost the same to you???

icon_rolleyes.gif
*
haha.. nah, i dont think all gsd look the same..
but i would preffer to get those gsd that u imported.. (few pages back)
btw there r others gsd that looks "ugly" for me,. but yet they r still champion!
look at http://www.tigerlandk9.com/

http://www.tigerlandk9.com/Our_Schutzhund_...ng_Dog_Male.htm
have a look at his male dog.. all look sweat.gif sweat.gif but yet they r all champion thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Added on August 9, 2009, 11:21 pmhey guy, i hv a question. been curious for this long time d.
lately i saw many breeders love to breed working line x show line.
but as far as i knw, x between both line is not encourage because they might cause some genetic problems? (think i saw in foreign website)
well, how true is that?
*

no idea on that..

Hi All,

As promised here's a video of Cherry after 2 weeks of training.

Can anyone teach me how to teach Cherry "Bark on command"?

I find it really difficult to teach this one, she just don't seem to bark.

Note that she has started to bark at strangers in front of my house.
*
nice one!! actually i feel obedient training can be done by the owner and dont need to sent to training centre..
unless to train for guard..

in gsd there is a breed standard. actually the 2 dont look much diff, just that the handler stack them differently.there is no right or wrong, the handler are trying to show the best side. but in gsd scene now, there are a few preferences but within the breed standard for example the slope allow are 22 degree to 27 degree for the croup. so same can be 22 and some can be 27. height can be diff too.  from 62.5 cm to 65 cm. depending on prefences. some breeder like big some breeder like middle size. i can go on all day. but i better stop here la. later you all go to sleep. zzz. ahahah

well i dont mind at all.. cause this is part of knowledge! which im interested to know..
everyone who comes in this topic must be ppl who r interested on gsd! thumbup.gif
