QUOTE(cloudstrife07 @ Feb 4 2007, 03:52 AM) What he means is with the end of the floppy disk era, how are we to update hardware bios's firmware (most previous generation of hardware bios firmware are commonly updated with a flash utility and booted up from the floppy disk).New generation of hardware or more precise motherboards can be boot-up in DOS mode by USB drive or CD-Rom. So, the end of the story for floppy disk...... |

Other than this with only storage capacity of 1.44 MB, I guest it just out-live it's usefulness.Hey, what about laptops. Itsn't it without floppy disk long, long time ago and doing just fine. Asus also gives a way to update a bios with CD-rom too...
You just need to burn a cd with the motherboard bios in it. Restart the pc, and when it's in the test section where it seeks for drives, just press Alt+F2, then it will seek for a cd-rom that have the correct bios for the motherboard. Then, Walla!!! |

And most of the OS now come with a bootable cd-rom.. No need to run setup from startup disk using disket like in those windows 95 and 98
